Darth Yogi Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 looks way better than the first in my opinion absolutely love the sparten and its my fravorite the mexican, mime and skier are amazing i just love all the detail from these packs Quote
Oky Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Witch: Looks fit to be burned....or melted. Probably the melting version. Yup. Simply replace the lower body with an Army Men stand, and voila, a melting witch. The Pharoah's staff texture is making me think of some other parts... You mean katanas? Are you saying it's gonna be rubbery? I doubt it, judging from the metallic gold paint, but I could be wrong. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Box...Box...Box I must get a series 2 box for my big MOCs! Planning stages are in motion, now to camp my supplier until the series 2 box is for sale/pre-order! Quote
blueandwhite Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Personally I prefer the first series. Series 2 doesn't look to have the same army-building potential. Most of the figs are town-oriented and at least to me, not as many of them make sense in large quantities. Hopefully series 3 gives us a few more mass collectables. I'm going to take a page from Mr. Madelorian's book and consider each figure. Let's have a look: Lion Tamer: He goes nicely with the clown. Like the clown he probably isn't a figure you want too many of. Perhaps 2 (he could also be used as a ringmaster for a circus). The clown is a bit more exciting as a fig though. Explorer: Like many figures in series one, no new parts are to be found here either. Still, you probably don't want more than a few of him either. Police officer: Aweful. This would have been the perfect figure if they gave him a wide-brimmed hat (which could also be used with a Mountie in a future series). As it stands he has a bunch of generic pieces and a generic torso. Still, you could build an army of him. For me, he's the equivalent of the crash test dummy. Skier: One of the standouts in the line. Poles and skis! That's five accessories including the hat. For the equipment alone I could see people buying several of this guy. Surfer: A supprisingly useful minifig, The shirtless torso can be used in any theme for a variety of purposes. The hair is classic and the face isn't half bad. The shorts can easily be mixed and matched to another minifig. Definitely a one-up from the skater. Mexican: This guy's fantastic! Like the caveman he has some really nice accessories. I can definitely see people getting several of him to make a mariachi band. I prefer the versatility of the caveman's parts, but this guy is too cool. My favourite figure in series 2. Life gaurd: Not as interesting as the cheerleader. It's a shame she has the same hairpiece. I can see buying a few baywatch babes, but not in the same quantity that you'd buy cheerleaders. Cheerleaders are for army building . Disco guy: Great figure. 70s MOCs, here we come! Definitely getting a few of him. Pharaoh: This guy is pretty nice and unlike a lot of the recycled figs from older themes he actually has a new accessory. I suppose there's going to be somebody who wants an army of this guy. Mime: Interesting figure. Perhaps an army of mimes to battle the undead. The inclusion of three heads is also nice. Vampire: Not bad. Still, he's a bit bland IMO. Like the Pharaoh there's probably somebody who will want an army of 1950s vampires. Witch: For me the biggest disappointment is that the witch from the previous castle line was far more interesting. This one's probably an homage to The Wizard of Oz (with the green face) but I'm not too keen on her. Singer: I really like the hair and it's always nice to have a new female face as the choices are quite limited. The figure itself is probably pretty useful for town folk. Martial artist: Really nice figure. The statue could easily double as a film or music award. Spartan: The true army builder of series 2. This guy will go fast! Three new accessories as well. Weightlifter: He's okay. The weights are nice, and I'm sure people will find uses for him. I'm not too fusy on the face though and the hair is nothing new. Overall I still prefer series 1. Series 1 really covered a wider range of interests. We had popular themes like space and castle covered as well as figs that really target the AFOL market like the zombie. The zombie, cheerleader, robot, forestman, spaceman and even the caveman are all really excellent for army building in their respective themes. Series 2 has it's charms but it feels like it targets a smaller demographic. There's no figure I'm excited about in the same way I was excited for the figures in series 1. I wonder what series 3 will bring. Quote
Aanchir Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Haven't seen this linked here yet, but Flickr member Toys N Bricks has individual pics of the Series 2 figs. They're on pages 1 and 2 of the photostream. Quote
Big Cam Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I'm kind of amazed at how many pieces they are re-using just in different colors from series 1. Quote
BlueBard Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I'm kind of amazed at how many pieces they are re-using just in different colors from series 1. Like what? Excepting four hairs (70's guy, the surfer, the weightlifter and the life guard) and a hat (the tamer) I think everything is new, isn't it? Quote

alex54 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Sad news for the French! It seems that the serie 2 (and HP line) will not be sold in France!... My new official toy shop (where I buy all mynew lego sets) told me the sad news today... Why, oh why? But I have a big hope to put my hand on one of the entire box... Quote
jonwil Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 With the more even distribution talked about (i.e. US getting more stock than was the case for series 1), I suspect that getting hold of entire boxes will be harder. Quote
Cap Toys Bricks Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I have both series of minifigures bought through Bricklink! visit www.bricklink.com Quote
glyn Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Have got my first two of these today, got the Roman and the Martial Art guy. A bit confused about the statues - is there a definite answer for what they are supposed to be? Quote
Aanchir Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Have got my first two of these today, got the Roman and the Martial Art guy. A bit confused about the statues - is there a definite answer for what they are supposed to be? It's just supposed to be some type of trophy. Martial arts events often would have trophies that look like gold statuettes of someone in a martial arts pose. LEGO probably used a more basic pose, though, so that it could be used for other contests and sporting events. Quote
Cusm Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I picked up 10 at lunch today. I was in a bit of hurry so I did not pay enough attention to the bar codes. Ended up with 3 Ringmasters, 2 Disco Stus, 2 Witches (this is okay as I will use one for my Haloween MOC and one for the son), a surfer and a Vampire. I am mad I did not pay enough attention and missed the Trojan, Mexican, Explorer and Pharoh. I will hit another Toys R Us on the way home and hope I have better luck/pay more attention. Quote
meyerc13 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Found these last night at Toys R Us in Appleton WI. The box only had 5 left, but they were all unique bar codes so I grabbed all five. Ended up getting: Lifeguard, Skier, Weight Lifter, Karate Master, and Ringmaster. Out of those, four were among the eight I really wanted. The two I wanted most were the Karate Master (because my son is taking Karate lessons) and the Lifeguard (can never have too many female Lego minifigs). I'd still like to get the Surfer, Popstar, Adventurer, Motorcycle Cop, and maybe the Mariachi and Mime. After the first series, I learned my lesson. You see Lego minifigs you buy them, don't wait because you may never see them again. Quote

I called the Lego Store in Woodfield Mall this morning, and was told they got a shipment on Monday and sold out within 24 hours. They have no idea if they're going to get anymore. The Toys R Us neraby is either sold out or never got any(I can't even find a shelf tag that says anyting about "series 2 minifigures"). So, I guess this is supposed to be "fun," huh? Quote
kabel Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 ever since I saw the pictures I was dead sure that I wanted the Mexican, and dang, today I got it, and it's quiet easy to feel the sombrero through the bag, so I didn't have to buy any of the others, and yes, it's simply one of the best minifigs ever!! BoobyToy Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Today I picked up (2) Spartans, (2) Weight Lifters, (2) Lifeguards, Mime, Pharoah, and Surfer at the Fox Valley Toys R Us (Chicagoland Area). BTW: The Pharoah was in a Disco Dancer Bag. Edited August 25, 2010 by BoobyToy Quote
fred67 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Just got back from my excursion: no collectible minifigures at either my local TRU or the LEGO Store (Discover Mills in Lawrenceville, GA, USA). Quote
kohhu Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 3 stops and finally the Lego Store in Dallas had 12 left...all week they kept saying they wouldnt be in stock until the 1st and then I happen to see these posts and tore out the door...I dont want to have to pay ebay prices like I had to do for series one. Quote
Cusm Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 BTW: The Pharoah was in a Disco Dancer Bag. That might explain why I ended up with 3 Ring Masters, I thought I paid more attention not to pick the same bar codes. I am going again on my lunch with a better sheet and I will be feeling the bags today. I had no luck at the other TRU on my way home. Quote

Still Raindrop Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Last time I wasn't able to pick up any of the minifigures (they never made it down to Colorado Springs, and by the time I got up to the LEGO Store in Denver, they were out). Fortunately, I discovered that a friend that I knew from high school is currently working at the LEGO Store, and he offered to buy the minifigures I wanted and hold them for me. So, it looks like soon I'll be picking up the surfer, the skier, the Mexican, the mime, and the explorer! Quote
mnybks Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Hi I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed that in the micro site for the collectable Minifigures series 2 there seems to be 4 missing minifigures from the revolving wheel of minifigures. Has anyone noticed this and may know the reason why and was it the same for series 1? update : I just had another look to confirm and they have now reappeared can anyone explain what may have happened. I feel like such a goose for posting this as a new topic now but there must be some explanation why they disappeared and then reappeared may be some computer glitch. Quote
