bullet8542 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Has anyone worked the toy story sets into their city layouts? I have looked at the garbage truck and the dump truck look like they have some potential thte garbage truck in particular would be fine for an industrial area, And the dump truck looks (To me) better than the current one. Any thoughts or has any one done this? Pics would be appreciated. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I tried using the Army Men in a rock band--Green Men Group. Quote
tedbeard Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I got a look at the garbage truck. It is a fantastic model and has a lot of really nice playability/functionality but I cannot see how it would possibly fit into a town layout. The scale is crazy huge. It's twice as big as a six-wide and putting it beside four-wide, well that would be ridiculous. Now, if someone was to build a town in TSS (Toy Story Scale), that could look really good. Think Duplo-sized people/objects but built of regular bricks. Quote
Fugazi Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Now, if someone was to build a town in TSS (Toy Story Scale), that could look really good. Think Duplo-sized people/objects but built of regular bricks. Wouldn't that come close to Miniland scale? Don't quote me on this, but perhaps Toy Story vehicles could work well with Miniland scale figures. Quote
meyerc13 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I'm bumping this old thread because I purchased the Toy Story 3 Garbage Truck Getaway set today on sale at Toys R Us, and my kids love the functionality but it's obviously too large for a LEGO City layout. Anyone successfully convert one of these to 6 wide or 8 wide? I thought I had seen a picture of one in someone's LEGO City layout, but I'm not finding it when I search. I think converting the cab and the back shouldn't be too tricky, but the Technic bits intimidate me. Quote
cotton Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Sorry guys bumping this very old thread yet again. I purchased dump truck and did some small mods to make it look a little more modern. Fits in perfect with my little construction area. Sorry for the low quality pics... Next time I order some bricks I think I will mod it some more with a 6 stud windshield instead of the 4. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Interesting little modification there 'cotton', I would suggest check this design against a real truck and balance out any differences in respect to other Lego city vehicles. Keep on going with those changes and Brick On ! Quote
RubeusHagrid Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 To me that is just OK, it looks too 'cartoonish' for my liking and it looks like a toy (can't imagine why...) Quote
IagoParrot Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 You could always take the army men and make a war memorial in a park. You could make the men into statues and the tank and maybe add a cannon. Quote
keep on bricking! Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I tried using the Army Men in a rock band--Green Men Group. Are they called Green Day by any chance Quote
ManitobaMoe Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I had the garbage truck in my town, just not in the street. It actually scales closely to their new semis. I tied Jesse to a spur that wasnt used and had buzz flying around on the octan tanker. The kids just loved them Quote
