just2good Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I've been wondering for awhile, has there been any LEGO 2011 news? Like, has there been any rumors about 2011 sets and themes, or any leaks or prelim's of sets and themes? And I think I found some 2011 LEGO set leaks: (These were all found in a LEGO Club video in which they go to a LEGO Club Magazine design studio) The return of LEGO Batman? If you look a little left to the far right, you can see a new LEGO space (?) photo it seems. And my favorite photo, in which it seems to be a new pirate ship.: Al photos found here. So my question is, do you know of any 2011 LEGO News? If a moderator thinks this topic is spamish, its okay, lock/move/remove it. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 The ship looks like the harry potter ship. The mech like suit looks cool maybe a new space concept but maybe just Mocs they made. Thanks for psting. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) The ship looks like the harry potter ship. I have it, and it isn't red, white and blue. If we had better images we could think about it, but not everything they make is made into a set. Alot of it, mostly the posters, don't look like they have anything at all to do with Lego. Erdbeereis Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 That ship doesn't really look like an official set to me. It might just be an old model they have laying around. Who knows though. Quote
Oky Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I'm about 90 percent sure that pirate ship is good ol' Red Beard Runner. But the mechs seem new. A return of Batman would be amazing! Especially since that one picture looks a bit like the Batmech! What intrigues me most, though, is the Army Men shirt that one guy is wearing. I really want it, and I did not know it comes in an adult size. Hopefully it's not a Lego Club exclusive. Quote
Oky Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Cool! Thanks for that pic, Superkalle! Looks like the pics on that wall are just posters. But perhaps they are there for reference? Who knows, but I'm not holding my breath. Quote
David Thomsen Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Yeah, that's almost definitely the Red Beard Runner... in the picture with the two ships in the background, the one on the right has the Red Beard Runner sails and the one on the left is the Brickbeard's Bounty. I think it's just a couple of ships they're fond of. I too would love to know what's coming in 2011, but I'm not seriously anticipating any news until August at the very very earliest. And then only grainy leaked pics if any. Edited May 29, 2010 by David Thomsen Quote
DLuders Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) According to http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/2011 , the Lego Star Wars theme is set to be discontinued in 2011 because their license with gazillionaire George Lucas is expiring. You would think that this theme would be extended (because Lego has sold LOTS of Star Wars sets).... See more about this at http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EI...1/ai_n16060872/ . While the discontinuation of the Star Wars line is a big bummer for me, the fact that a Legoland will open in Florida(a few hours drive for me from north of Atlanta) more than makes up for it and will make a great graduation gift for me. Stash2Sixx Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 LEGO SW License will be extended beyond 2011. It was announced at Bricks by the Bay. Quote

Given how successful Star Wars has been as a LEGO theme, I'm sure both TLG and LFL would like to continue it. Personally I expect the license to be renewed. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Oh I do hope for the return of Lego Batman! I believed that it was the fall that the videogame came out that I realized I had only purchased one Batman set! I will cross my fingers for clayface, man-bat, and the mad hatter! Quote
blueandwhite Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 LEGO SW License will be extended beyond 2011. It was announced at Bricks by the Bay. This certainly isn't a surprise. The licence is great for both Lucas and LEGO (two Ls). Honestly, I don't think that LEGO could afford to give up the Star Wars licence and I'm pretty sure that Lucas has seen a pretty solid benefit from this relationship as well. Much like Hasbro's relationship with George, I don't think that we will see this line go anywhere for a long time. It's probably fair to say that if Castle Space and Town were core brands in the 80s, Star Wars is one of LEGO's core themes for today. Castle and Space seem to flicker in and out every few years whereas Star Wars is pretty much a fixture on the LEGO landscape. Quote
bricks-and-bits Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think Lego Batman is dead the only hope for that lines is the upcoming young justice or the new CGI? batman series afer The brave and the bold, or the new nolan movie (unlikly) But I think the sould try green lantren, or the avengers, I would like to see the Batman line again but alas I think we are all out of luck, but I would place bets on a superman line. DLuders Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I think Lego Batman is dead.... Hey "Batman", check out this Lego Technic "Tumbler" MOC: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45071 . The "Batman" theme can live on with MOCcers making their own creations. Quote

Well... you're probably right about Batman... I don't know how well TDK sets sold (there was a couple, no? Alas, I didn't get any), but how well they sold is the crux of the matter... so yeah, if interest were drummed up by release of a new movie, there's a definite possibility... I say this as someone who had a sort of mini-dark ages (it's complicated) when Harry Potter sets were available... a couple of years ago, I was lamenting the fact that I hadn't gotten any and was pretty sad about it, and everyone kept say "it's over, they didn't sell well," or "kids like vehicles, they didn't like sets like Hogwarts or Hagrid's Hut!" And... well... now I'm eagerly awaiting October to get Hogwarts and Hagrid's Hut, among other sets! Quote
BrickMan7 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 More LEGO Batman would be killer. I believe it's already been talked about but Pirates of the Caribbean I expect to see based on what we saw at Comic-con. A black pearl set sounds real nice. If you think about now that Disney has a deal with LEGO and recently Disney bought Marvel, a whole bunch of possibilities arise. We just posted the supposed 2011 lego star wars sets. http://www.brickshow.com/six-2011-lego-star-wars-sets-revealed Quote

Sirius Black Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 A Lego Universe Trading Card game??? On top of Ninja-Go? I can't say that some of this sounds very appealing. So PoTC is confirmed? That is one line that has potential. A pity that we have no classic trilogy series sets. Sirius Quote

That all looks about right, according to everything else I've seen. I do wish we could add the return of the Indiana Jones theme to the items there, but I haven't seen any indication yet of it happening, alas. One thing I think we can safely add is the continuation of the Cars theme with new sets based on next year's Cars 2. I wonder whether the theme might expand beyond Duplo sets... Quote
LegoDad42 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I'm with ya' Blondie-Wan. I was hopin' to see some Indiana Jones BUT, this is only Brickipedia news for roughly the first quarter of the year. And when the next Indy movie comes out to tie that in, then I'm sure we'll see kits. I was hoping 2011, but I think you mentioned before, speculation says the movie might come out 2012? But at least we know LEGO will sign again with Lucasfilm, so that kinda' gives Indy hope...crossin' fingers... Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 - LEGO will release LEGO City Stories: The Video Game. Haven't heard anything about this?? Is this a full-blown console game like SW, Indy and Harry Potter? Or just a little DS fun for the kids? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 That Pirate ship isn't new, If you look at the first pic Just behind the mans head you can see blue sails with cannons. Quote
Oky Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Keep in mind that this is brickipedia; it's not confirming anything. A trading card game alongside the NinjaGo one seems unlikely to me too. Quote
