Lego lover Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) Can I use pearl light gray instead of metallic silver and , for example , reddish brown instead of brown? Edited June 7, 2010 by Lego lover Quote
lt.Gonville brickhead Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) Is it ok if i used a moc I already made and have pictures of but i lost it because of me getting a new laptop Oh it has no mini figs http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/177126 hmm silly surprise Edited June 7, 2010 by lt.Gonville brickhead Quote
Superkalle Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 Can I use pearl light gray instead of metallic silver and , for example , reddish brown instead of brown? Base sure is that you can only use the colors that Lego has produced that particular part in. However, if you can't find that specific color in LDD, and it is as similar as you descrive, then Yes you can substitute like that. Is it ok if i used a moc I already made and have pictures of but i lost it because of me getting a new laptop Oh it has no mini figs http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/177126 hmm silly surprise Sorry, you can not use old MOCs that have allready been published. If the MOC has never been published, then you can use it, or if the MOC was published just recently (the last few days/weeks) we could make an exception, and you can uset it. Quote
Superkalle Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 is that a yes or a no I'll rephrase myself - It depends if your MOC has allready been published on the internet: If it has, you cannot enter it into the contest (it's concidered recycled). If it hasen't, you can enter it i the contest. Quote
RTHKI Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 What about an MOC that was posted a while ago but has been modified a lot since then? The whole model would be made of new parts and many changes to the interior and exterior. It seems like a no but I want to make sure. If not I still have LDD only to enter Quote

If not I still have LDD only to enter What I say is in no way official, but here is how I look at things. Contests should just be inspiration for you to build; that's what LEGO is for anyway. You should build something that makes you proud. Honestly, I've seen some pretty bad MOCs entered into different contests over the years, but I see that the builder is proud with what they've done. That makes me smile inside because I realize that the real spirit of the contests are to foster community growth, and enrich our experience as a whole. And truthfully, they do a pretty damn good job at that. If prizes are involved, that's just a bonus. You shouldn't try to find every way possible to worm around the rules just to win. Build something new, and who knows, you might just surprise yourself and everybody else with the results Quote

If not I still have LDD only to enter Hi, Sorry, I would have to say no. And I appreciate your honesty in asking The whole thing about the "LDD + Real bricks" class is that you design something in LDD first and then build it with physcial bricks. This to promote LDD as a really good first stage design tool. And remember, it doesn't have to be a big MOC. Naturally, you're always welcome to enter the "LDD Only" class too. Quote
greenskull139 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Can we base our new entries off old LDD MOCS we made? Edited June 8, 2010 by greenskull139 Quote
Superkalle Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Can we base our new entries off old LDD MOCS we made? The answer to this is allready stated in the previous posts, but I'll take it again: If your old MOC has never been published, then YES you can use it since there is no way anybody could know if it's old or new. If your old MOC has at one time been published, then NO you cannot use it. Quote
greenskull139 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) Yeah, sorry but thanks! I am hoping to see entries but this stuff takes time for something good. Edited June 9, 2010 by greenskull139 Quote
Superkalle Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 No prob Greenskull. And good luck with your creation! Quote
greg3 Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Hi A quick question (which I don't think has been covered yet - apologies if it has) If I build a physical version of my LDD design does it have to be exactly the same? ie if I use a 1x12 plate in the LDD but don't have an actual one in the right colour and use 2 1x6 plates in the physical version is that OK? Hopefully that makes sense!! Cheers Greg Quote

Sure, it's OK. We're not going to be that tough in the judgement Quote
DLuders Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I'd like to comment on the first TECHNIC LDD contest entry -- Zblj's Trophy Truck ( See Details Here ). I think it's excellent. I downloaded the LDD .lxf file, looked at the Building Guide Mode, and can see that it would be a great model for a TECHNIC fan to build. I used Superkalle's LDD Manager to generate a Parts List. If TLG would create an official TECHNIC set like this, I bet that it would sell a lot of them. This Trophy Truck is simple enough to not be too expensive to buy, and it has the OPTION of motorizing it with a Power Functions Medium motor. I really like the model's quick-switch motor assembly. It would be right at home competing in the Baja 1000 race in Mexico! Thanks, Zblj, for sharing it! Quote
Superkalle Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 I'd like to comment on the first TECHNIC LDD contest entry -- Zblj's Trophy Truck Hey, I agree it. It's just friggin awesom. Hey, Zjblj - maybe you should apply for that design job at TLG Quote
Catarino Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 The prizes are global? Or each theme will have their own prizes? I believe that's almost impossible... but I just wanted to be sure Quote
Superkalle Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 The prizes are global? Prizes are "global" i.e. only one set of prices for all themes what theme is a car under Depends on what kind of car. If it's a City style car, it would go under Town. If it's a Technics car, it would go under Technics etc. Quote
