I just bought the Kingdoms set Knight's Showdown, and found that the light pearl-grey sword was darker, mush darker.

It was almost a halfway point between the light and dark pearl-grey's,

It was also a bit damaged, or mis-manufactured.

I have no problem with this, as I love the way the sword looks, almost more like actual steel,

My only question is, whether anyone else has found one like this?

I haven't, but that is interesting. my friend got some misprinted shields before.

I'm guessing the plastic in your sword got mixed accidentally with the darker on, as my sword from that set is the same shade as the older ones.

Huh. That's pretty cool! I bet it would be worth some money...

The color of my swords are normal but I have the same ugly notches and manufacturing errors on mine

Thats odd, I just looked at my sword and its a mix too it does look better capturing a more steel look to it and the handle has no marks.

Interesting.

Awesome, in that case I'm going to buy more of the sets and see what happens.

If I could get more of them, I'd be happy.

That's actually pretty cool. Better than the one on the far left (which looks almost sickly...). I wouldn't mind it if this color replaced Light Pearl Gray.

Yes, I've noticed this also - the color of the pearl grey is not the same - I really don't mind, actually kind of like it

- what I do mind is the "soft plastic" - meaning the damage to the sword handle is visible after a just a couple of or only one hand changing  - what is the point of a weapon you can't even put into the minifigs hands without damaging it?

I've seen this with the Atlantis tridents before, but did not think they will "spread" the soft plastic onto other themes/colors. Now, the pearl grey plastic is just as bad as the pearl gold...

I have one out of 3 Prison Carriage Rescue sets. It's flat silver. Compared it to my flat silver KKII/Viking sword and the colors match. Even Bricklink has it listed as an alternate for the pearl light grey sword in the Prison Rescue Carraige Set:

I think that this colour looks better than the normal pearl silver.

It looks much more realistic than the other two

Please tell us what you get!

Either one of those new swords can compare with the old and hard dark grey swords of the 80's and early 90's. Those were the days... having purchased my first sets from this millenium yesterday, I was really dissapointed with the weapons - and the swords in particular.

True. I was thinking the same thing the other day. Those swords were made of a much more stronger and better quality plastic.

Indeed. And they looked much more like iron.

This isn't a mix-up.

LEGO told us when they released the official colour palette earlier this year that pearl silver would be changing. You're probably just the first to notice!

It's from the horses mouth, people!

Whilst they deplete the old stock of lighter colours, you may get some mixed assortments.

EDIT:

Actually, it appears that news was originally posted on The Brothers Brick last year in November via the Ambassadors forum:

I’ve just received word through the LA forums that a few colours will be changing over the upcoming years: trans-black (aka smoke), pearl light grey and pearl dark grey. I suspect for the majority of us the trans-black change will be the most noticeable.

http://www.brothers-brick.com/2009/11/04/colour-change-2-0/

But then they later posted to say this would NOT be happening! It seems like it did, anyway... :look:

Now I'm confused too!

Well then this makes much more sense, and just to keep things strait... I tend to overlook things, a lot, but it is cool being first to notice something for once.... Wait is it?

Legorski.....

The "middel dark pearl-grey" sword is not an accident.

The swords and spears of the Lionknights are generally darker then the swords and spears of the Crownies.

Speaking of horses where are they in Kingdoms? On topic, I like the new color in my swords. They look more solid, and less transparent. Personally, I wouldn't be one to go into battle with a sword looking like the old ones did. Especially because they're plastic.

Hi All,

In almost all of my new sets the light pearl swords have the new color. :classic:

The new colored swords are definitely slightly darker than the swords in my castle sets of last year.

But I also noticed that the old-light-pearl colored swords, in the new sets, tend to be of better quality than those of the 2008 sets.

All in all I am pleased with the new color and the better quality of the old color.

The Battle-pack quality is not so good though, some parts have too much clutch some parts none.

It appears the machines used to produce them have a tolerance which is too high for descent quality.

I bought four battle-packs two from Lego.com and two from a local store.

Since they originate from different sources I consider them different batches.

All the battle-packs have this issue though.

Kind regards,

Teddy
