Aanchir Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) On flickr I found following Creator-looking submarine. Do you think that this is really a new Exclusive for 2011 or only a custom? Klaus-Dieter I noticed that as well. I'm kind of skeptical about whether someone would create the custom box and everything for what seems to be a promotion for a certain company. So I get the idea it may be an actual set, possibly a limited-release promotional set like the latest release of the Maersk ship (which was given exclusively to Maersk employees). The set number is five digits, which is consistent with what we'd expect of a set with a limited release. Another hint that it's a real set is that this piece does not come in orange, but appears in orange on that set's tail. Creating a custom or painted piece as well as a custom box that emulates the appearance of a real set is pretty far to go for a company with no ties to the LEGO fandom. This is what this set is supposed to depict, at any rate. If this does become a set, it'll be interesting to say the least! EDIT: Here are some more pictures. And here is a description of the product: With all the support for the SHINKAI 6500, we have decided to launch an official LEGO ® set based on the original ideas from @ guy in 2010. This is a milestone in the relationship between the LEGO ® Group and all of you who love LEGO ® in creating new LEGO ® products for the world to enjoy. of you "Shinkai 6500" Thanks to the support, we will ® LEGO @ guy's based on original ideas, "Shinkai 6500" an official LEGO ® Sets decided to send to the world as in 2010. "Shinkai 6500" of the product determines the birth of a new product that can be enjoyed by people around the world, ie, LEGO ® LEGO ® Group and is a breakthrough moment with you in relation to love...In the coming months we will reveal more about the final product and date for arrival in Japan. Such as the date for release next month in Japan and information about the final product will deliver information to you. So it won't be anything I'm going to be getting my hands on (I'm not interested enough to go through the trouble of getting a Japan-exclusive LEGO set), but it's still mighty impressive and wonders if more products of this sort might be over the horizon! Klaus-Dieter This is a custom, but was made into a real set by LEGO Cuusoo. Cuusoo is a company that makes peoples' MOCs into real sets, if they get 1000 votes. There is a topic about this in the technic forum: My link Quote
Raphy Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 With all the fresh news of 2011 sets, I thought this would be a good time to recap. So far we know that these themes will appear or be carried on into 2011: Atlantis Pharaoh's Quest NinjaGo Pirates of the Caribbean (still waiting for dates/set details) Hero Factory Games Collectable Minifigures As well as the usual suspects: City/Trains, Star Wars, Creator, Technic, Duplo. So what about the rest of them? Are these going to disappear, or is it just a matter of time before we get some form of confirmation? Harry Potter World Racers Racers Power Miners Kingdoms Space Police Toy Story I suppose it's pretty safe to say that World Racers, Power Miners and Toy Story are over, but what about Space Police, Racers and Kingdoms? Has there been any information one way or the other? Will there be no space-based theme in 2011? World Racers and Power Miners are most likely gone, probably the same with Toy Story and Space Police. It is weird we haven't seen any Racer sets, very weird. However Kingdoms is a summer theme, Castle always comes out in summer so that is safe. Cars is rumoured to be going Creator style, and there is that Creator house we just saw. So clearly we don't have all the sets pictures yet, there would be more than one Creator set. I hope they're continuing the tiny turbo racers, I love those sets! Well we have both Pharaoh's Quest and NinjaGo confirmed for 2011 as action themes, so is there room left for a World Racers return? I doubt that both Racers and World Racers would disappear at once, would they? Racers is a big part of the current catalogue. As for Creator, 6 sets are planned for the first 2011 wave: 5766 log cabin € 29.99 5765 Low Loader with Helicopter € 19.99 5764 Robot € 14.99 5763 Buggy € 9.99 5761 Mini Excavator € 4.99 5762 Mini Plane € 4.99 Racers will never disappear! NEVAR! In fact, check out my find (actually racer700788's). Yummy. :) Quote

The Green Brick Giant Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 My predictions for 2012 sets 1. DUPLO Sesame Street 2. Olympics sets 3. Large scale Titanic model 4. The Simpsons 5. Shrek (If Lego agrees to grant a Dreamworks licence!) The only one of those I could see happening is the Titanic. The rest are license sets that LEGO will never buy, or would be stupid to buy. Quote

escortmad79 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Why would they do Simpsons? Most kids know that the show is not age appropriate for them. I wouldn't worry about that, don't forget there are the likes of Torchwood models available to buy, that won't be directed at kids plus Family Guy & South Park & they're DEFINATELY aren't aimed at kids but you still get toys. lightningtiger Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Why are some people talking about what might be in 2012 when this is about 2011 ? Now, back on topic......has anyone heard of any new modular sets for next year, since we have a rough idea of SW, City, etc., sets for next year ? Keep on wishing ! Quote

Aanchir Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I only said that it would be more likely for 2012? I haven't heard off any new modular sets im starting to worry we won't get any I doubt it... if we don't get any modular buildings, then we'll almost certainly be getting more sets with a Diagon Alley/Imperial Flagship/Medieval Market Village level of detail, since LEGO's experienced success with exclusive sets that have that level of complexity. But in all honesty I've been seeing every indication that the modular buildings are a huge hit and that LEGO wouldn't likely have any reason to get rid of them. Chances are pics just haven't emerged yet, which is perfectly natural-- even if we had rumors of the Grand Emporium in October of 2009, we didn't have pics until months later. Quote
