Blondie-Wan Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 From a Licensed point of view, neither Indy nor PoP will be back in 2011. They can't seem to give the Indy sets away Huh? Do they need to? As far as I can tell, the theme has continued to sell well; I'm certainly not seeing lots of clearances on Indy sets - Walmart is the only vendor I've seen clearance the last wave, while TRU and Target actually continue to restock them (TRU even has Star Wars and City sets on clearance, but not Indy). I was under the impression Indy was merely put on hiatus, simply to make room for Prince of Persia, and was under consideration for being brought back the following year. Did I miss something? I really thought the Indiana Jones line was selling well... (But that said, if TLG really does want to give away the Indy sets and has trouble doing so, would you mind telling them to give me a call? ) Quote
Mirandir Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I think we're getting a minifig sized Bellville-ish theme... I believe Atlantis are getting a half-release in january kind of like Power Miners did this year. There are a pretty big chance we're getting Pirates of the Carrebean. A new police line seems kind of likely too. I don't think we're getting any more World Racers, it kind of seems like a one-off theme to me. I don't think we're getting any more lamborghinis. :( Kingdoms will of course get at least one more wave. This time with a Castle for the Dragons. I'm hoping for: more civilian sets for both kingdoms and city. Creator will bring another House, car and aeroplane/helicopter. Quote
BearHeart Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Maybe we'll see a small/medium farm sets that include cows. Quote
Euvor Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I'm thinking Pirates of the Caribbean likely (with the fourth film coming out) and also the possible return of Indiana Jones. Maybe, but unlikely, another wave of Harry Potter for the second part of the last film. For castle I think they will have a second wave of Kingdoms, with maybe a new faction added (but I'm still hoping for the elves ). As for Star Wars, isn't Lego's license to it going to end next year? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Maybe we'll see a small/medium farm sets that include cows. I think they should. I am still disapointed that cows didn't show up in any of 2010 sets. I wonder what the Farm theme will give us next? We need chicken coop and a set like a piggy pen one but with cows/horses. Quote
HumanPackMule Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 In the City catagory I would like to have:..... 2. A school bus ....... I'm really surprised that TLC hasn't given us a school bus yet, and I think an official school bus set would sell very well among children and fans of the city theme. I think they should. I am still disapointed that cows didn't show up in any of 2010 sets. I wonder what the Farm theme will give us next? We need chicken coop and a set like a piggy pen one but with cows/horses. I too, miss the cows in 2010. You'd think that the horse trailer set would increase the chances of TLC making an official stable. Quote
krystalKING Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I don't know about other themes but I think blacktron may return.or another mars mission. PS Any rumors/pic leaks/new theme/new set confirmation? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) I would really like to see a range of Historic theme so it can teach kids while they play, there could be loads of subthemes eg: Tudors Vikings Roman ancient Egypt American history Edited September 19, 2010 by The Red Brick Quote
BrickWild Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Maybe we would like to see a few Exclusives (e.g. a Scania cabover truck, a Smart Car or maybe even a large scale Empire State Building) Quote

krystalKING Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Maybe we would like to see a few Exclusives (e.g. a Scania cabover truck, a Smart Car or maybe even a large scale Empire State Building) Didn't LEGO already make a smart car? blueandwhite Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 If Kingdoms continues, I expect 2-4 new sets next year. I could see either a new faction (forestmen) or a few civilians being thrown into the mix. Like most second-year runs, I expect that the Kingdoms offerings next year will be rather modest compared to this year's work. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Queen or wizard show up in a set either. Possibly a joust or a small wizard's cottage. I'd guess that we'll see a new space theme as well. While the Space Police may continue to play a role in that theme, I wouldn't be surprised to see LEGO revive one of the many "Trons" (M-Tron, Futron, Backtron I & II, etc.). Unlike castle, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of sets this year for space. With PoP flopping at boxoffices and in my location, toyshelves I would expect to see a new licence replace it next year. Toy Story also seems like a one-year licence with the bulk of the major characters already available. Town is pretty much a wild card. I have no idea what to expect (aside from the obligatory police and fire departments). I think a proper hospital would be nice, but I'm not counting on it. I would love to see a modular dentist's office or walk-in medical clinic though. Any other themes I have no guesses about. Quote
Tyrant Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 For Kingdoms, I hope to see a similar number of sets. I am happy that there are 3 sets @ $20 and under so far (5 if you count impulses, 7 if you count battle packs) and I hope we see something along the lines of either the Tower Raid or Drawbridge Defense in terms of size, price, figures/parts, etc for the Dragon Knights along with a large castle for them (hopefully it being along the thematic lines of the Prison Tower Rescue, or just a large darker toned fortress). For the Lion Knights I would think we would possibly see a wagon of some type for them or some siege equipment of their own assaulting a Dragon Knight structure. I would love to see peasants in a regular issue set that isn't super expensive, but so far that wish seems to go unfulfilled. I would like to see a ship of some type for either or both factions. Larger ships like the Troll Warship would be nice, but smaller ships like the older Sea Serpent would be nice too. Perhaps a port as well. That's probably just wishful thinking. I would like to see greater representation of the Dragon Knights before we inject more factions, though I do want more factions (a redone Black Falcons would be awesome and given that both of the current factions are somewhat recycled it isn't without precedent) so I guess one set with a new group as a teaser for 2012 would be good. What could also be interesting would be buildings that can be attached to the current castle given that it is somewhat modular. For City, I would also like to see a School Bus. Or a regular bus. Either way as a standalone set. If we don't get a hospital (I don't have room for one at the moment anyway, so I am indifferent about a hospital), I would like to see a standalone ambulance. I assume that would also mean a medical helicopter as well. I would rather see something like a newscopter though. Perhaps a news van to go along with it, someone has to report on all the fires and arrests after all. A bank and armored car (hopefully seperate sets) would be nice and something we haven't seen for a while. A post office woud also be a nice addition. As for civilian vehicles, maybe a pick up truck. A pizza delivery vehicle or a minivan could be good too. If Farm continues, I agree with the previous suggestion of a sheep ranch. And hopefully a relatively cheap set with one or more cows. It's probably an extreme long shot, but maybe something like the Castle/Kingdoms battle packs only with farm animals. Since we have the horse trailer, a set of stables would be a nice addition as well. Maybe some silos too. For Atlantis (if it continues), I would love to see more animalesque minifigs like we have been seeing so far. The sea creatures have been good too so far so more of those will be good. I don't have it yet, but the transforming mech looks interesting and will be the first set I buy for the vehicle and not the sea creatures/figs. More sets like that, or just some greater variety (though I'm not sure what else really looks appropriate for an underwater theme) in vehicles. More temples/ruins are a must. I only buy the Space Police sets for the alien figures so anything that keeps giving us a variety of aliens is okay with me. Beyond that, a full return of any of the Trons (though I am partial to original Blacktron and M Tron over Blacktron II) would be nice. Perhaps a return of Ice Planet and really surprise people. I agree that things don't look promising for Prince of Persia, which to me is a shame because I like the ones that are out and I would like more sets along those lines (though I'm not sure what else they would make). If Indy returns my main want would be the tank from Last Crusade. A set of elephants from Temple of Doom would be good too. A dig site/map room from Raiders would make a nice structure. Maybe the bar in Nepal (or was it Tibet? It's been a while since I watched Raiders). From Power Miners my main interest is more monsters. Some sets, like the mech, are good and I would like more of them. SW is my only other interest and my wants for that would probably double this post. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Didn't LEGO already say that Atlantis is getting another year? City will most likely be a Res-Q theme, and a few random sets that haven't been done 100 times. I'm hoping for more Train sets as well. Several new cars and I hope some more airplanes using the newer pieces but in an older systle. Kingdoms I hope will have 7-8 sets, just really go all out and have some new factions (now I almost said fractions ) mixed in with the old ones. I hope Space Police continues and that they introduce a new faction as well, maybe take place on Ice Planet. Have a new police force to go with the bad guys, maybe like a bounty hunter / squat team, or have a special police force of some other kind. Either way I don't see a new Space theme being completely different than the one we have now. There will be a new action theme too somewhere, I'm not sure what. Probably a few more World Racers sets, maybe different colors, aka new factions. LEGO needs to realize instead of making new themes just add more factions to the current ones. I think that would be a win win. Licenses PoP is dead. Maybe a random TS set or two. Probably some new Disney themes, like maybe Cars in System scale for the new movie coming out next year. PotC4 will probably see a return to Pirates but with flesh tones. Quote
BrickWild Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Didn't LEGO already make a smart car? (I'm referring to small car.) Possibly a larger scale Smart car, like the Volkswagen Beetle, of course! Quote
Piranha Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I would like to suggest an "Island/tiki/Hawaiian" theme We are getting the surfer and lifeguard in the upcoming collectible series 2 which are both really awesome. It could possibly be a subtheme of city with 3-4 sets being released every year for 1-2 years. Here are some of my possible set ideas - Beach - Hotel playset, similar to Transportation Center which has alot of different elements - surf shop - huts - waterfall/caves and as for some great accessories we could get alot of possible parts like tiki torches, more surfboards, new food parts, roasted pig , palm trees, parrot, etc and also casual civilian figs and others like hula dancers, more surfers, hotel staff, etc Quote
Tony Almeida Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Definitely more Space Police! I'm not too fond of the majority of the sets out at the moment, personally I'd like more space police vehicles akin to the ones in 5973 and 5981. Quote
just2good Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I would like to suggest an "Island/tiki/Hawaiian" theme That would be so AWESOME! I love Paradisa (even though I'm a boy) and it would be like it, except not pink! I think they will make that theme, but as a City subtheme (but it would be better as a standalone theme). Quote
Cammy Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I would love to see a new theme like Paradisa, I'd buy anything that's civilian-based and has female Mini-Figs. A new Space theme would be awesome too, I just hope it's not based on any particular planet, because I like to mix my Space LEGO together. Currently my Space Police patrol a colony on Mars, so more aliens and Astros to join them, especially new bases or land-based vehicles would be very welcome. If it's a new Blacktron or Astro theme based on the collectable Mini-Fig I'll be really happy! Quote
Zorbas Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) A new harbor is possible I think, since the last one was 3 years ago (4 years in 2011). That's my greatest hope from the upcoming sets. A new hospital is also possible, taking into consideration that there is also a 2-3 year absence in Medical sets in general. Let's not forget the new collectable nurse, not as a sign of what's coming but as a good combination. About the Farm theme, there could be a new ostrich farm, along with 1 or 2 more animals. TLG could take advantage of the new ostrich mold since ostriches were present in only one set so far. Edited June 13, 2010 by Zorbas Quote
Apache Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I really hope that Kingdoms isn't a 1 and done like Pirates. I was so excited for Pirates, spent over $300 on sets...only to have it discontinued. If Kingdoms is brought back we should see.... Dragon Knight Castle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

Pirates isn't a "core" theme. LEGO said there will always be a Town/City theme, Castle, and Space sets. That get's me thinking, some of the Space Police sets have cool new helmets that they could use for new factions in the Kingdoms theme. Quote

The Green Brick Giant Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 That one works, the spikey helmet works really well too. It would have fit more into the fantasy theme Castle, but still would work in the new Kingdoms. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 LicensesPoP is dead. Maybe a random TS set or two. Probably some new Disney themes, like maybe Cars in System scale for the new movie coming out next year. You know, the Cars license could actually work across a slew of set types. The movie's fanbase isn't exclusively small children by any means; I think they could actually do Technic / Model Team-style Cars sets, with lots of realistic functions and details on cars that also happen to have big cartoon eyes and mouths. :D Seriously, they could do a large, UCS-ish Lightning McQueen for $99.99 USD or more; I think such a set could have a lot of potential.
