You know, the Cars license could actually work across a slew of set types. The movie's fanbase isn't exclusively small children by any means; I think they could actually do Technic / Model Team-style Cars sets, with lots of realistic functions and details on cars that also happen to have big cartoon eyes and mouths. :D Seriously, they could do a large, UCS-ish Lightning McQueen for $99.99 USD or more; I think such a set could have a lot of potential.

I wish I had the link but someone made some great Cars cars that looked like they would be $20-$30 sets and looked perfect.

If there'll be some new police sets for City (and that is highly likely), I hope that TLG will add car doors to all of the new vehicles. In 7848 there now come blue car doors which could well be used for police cars, too.

And I hope we'll get a better prison transporter and a new small police car seperately. At least a new prison transporter is very likely since the current one was firstly released in 2005.

For a new Winter set I could well imagine either a candy shop or a winter train station or a new winter train.

I too think that a winter train station would be nice, to add to the winter toy shop and holiday train, plus the up comming bakery !

Around September/October we'll start hearing about and seeing what's comming up for 2011, it depends on what Time Warner and Disney wants to do with Lego.

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

I totally agree with you that a winter train station would be a nice addition to 10199 and 10216, lightningtiger!

But the holiday train was released some years ago. And so many people surely don't own it (e. g. I missed to buy it). Plus with the new locomotive wheels and pieces (from 10194) TLG could design a much better holiday train to which even a PF train motor could be added that you can really run it.

So I bet and hope that either TLG will release a really, really big set with holiday train and winter train station together or they will firstly release a new holiday train and then a winter train station.

Last xmas I had the Holiday train (with PF mod) going round the tree with the Winter Toy Shop at the side, looked great. An additional building like the bakery or a station would be great news. A complete train even better to expand the theme, but perhaps that is another year away if the winter theme keeps going ?

Cheers,

Itrain.

I'm hoping TLG will release alot more Town sets, it's by far my favourite. Hoping to see more "marine" type sets (ie. Boats, Harbour, Ferry, etc).

Well you're out of luck there, there won't be a winter bakery in 2011, because it's coming out this year!

But hopefully they add to this winter village theme in 2011. A giant sweets shop would have to be a chance.

I was just thinking, What if there was introduced into city a Lego theme, with the truck starting it off. maybe a Lego store, then a factory, going up to a few rides from Legoland. A possibility? yes, but I could really see that taking off. Or even, for that matter, an amusement park faction! just imagine a rollercoster or "the whip" all with power functions.

That would be totally amazing, Pirate Pete! :oh:

If the information on that all three TRU options will be released was right, I bet that we'll get a City Square as a City Exclusive next year. And it might include a Lego Store.

As for an amusement park, Legoland (esp. Miniland)or fair: I don't see these happening as regular themes/sets. But TLG might release them as Exclusives in the following years - hopefully. And apart from that nobody knows; we didn't expect a Farm theme - so there might be a fair or Legoland theme in the future although we doubt it.

But for 2011 I bet we'll see:

- January: police theme (new police hq, new police car, new prison car, police boat)

- February: TV helicopter with car

- March: sheep grazing land or horse stable

- April: mountain rescue theme (resq hq, resq heli, resq pick-up) or hospital theme (hospital, rescue heli, ambulance, doctor's car)

- June: yacht

- July: harbor theme (new cargo harbor, new container stacker), a new City Corner or a bank and a new garbage truck

- Exclusives: City Square (Lego Store, cafe, hotel) and winter candy shop

Since the Truck Stop seems not to be released, I could well imagine TLG to release a new City Corner in 2011 with a small gas station, a grocery or a post office, a delivery van or a post van and a small civilian car.

What do you think?

Mirandir posted following information in the City 2010 topic:

unfortunatly from what I've been hearing we won't get any hospital theme any sooner than 2012.

Thank you very much for this information, Mirandir! :classic:

I personally trust Mirandir's information since he was right about the TRU shop, too.

So if this information is right, we won't see any hospital theme in 2011.

But this even means that we won't see any CG or mountain resq theme, too, since two rescue themes in two years one after another are absolutely unrealistic.

On the one hand I'm a bit disappointed that we supposably won't get a new hospital or mountain rescue theme in 2011.

On the other hand this opens us the possibility for more other non-police/fire/construction/rescue sets.

So which theme/sets might then be released in April 2011?

-A zoo theme? Imo very unrealistic as long as the farm theme continues. And I really hope that there'll be some more new farm sets in 2011 since there is so much missing: a milk truck, a sheep grazing land, a horse stables and different types of big and small agricultural vehicles and machinery.

-More civilian sets? Imo surely, but not already in April but in summer.

-Some additions to this year's themes? Imo very likely: a small gas station (for the Octan Tanker), a cargo helicopter/plane (for this year's airport theme), maybe even a modern cargo center (or is this only my wishful thinking?), a big delivery truck (in addition to a cargo heli/plane), a sheep grazing land with an agricultural vehicle (in addition to the farm theme).

What do you think?

  • Hospital theme would work for me-- a big ol' building with lots of details in the $100USD range, a $50USD rescue copter, and the $20 ambulance set sound perfect.
  • There's a lot of Police stuff still being put out new on the shelves-- seems odd that they'd be in a hurry to start a new line. Personally I'd like to see them continue with more of the civilian stuff.
  • Zoo was referenced, that sounds great. Library too.
  • Love the idea of a bank!! Give something for my crooks to do when they break out of prison!
  • I wouldn't be surprised to see a new service station and convenience store. How long since the last one?
  • How about a school? I guess they're concerned that the last things want to play with when they get home from school is, well, a school.
  • Finally, as I said in another thread awhile back-- TLG clearly has a hit on their hands with the Winter theme. I wonder if they'd ever expand it into a full line, or just keep with the one set a year concept? It certainly keeps demand very high.

If TLG doesn't release any new fraction

I think you mean "faction."

Definitely more Space Police! I'm not too fond of the majority of the sets out at the moment, personally I'd like more space police vehicles akin to the ones in 5973 and 5981.

I have a feeling that the three newest Space Police sets are the final ones for that theme. I've enjoyed Space Police immensely but it feels like it has run its course. I hope another style Space theme replaces it in 2011, just like Space Police replaced Mars Mission.

Don't know much about next years sets other than that there won't be any hospital theme. But I've recieved a very-very-very vague hint that gave me a feeling that we might see an increased number of female minifigs next year... But I'm far from 100% sure about that.

Might just be wishful thinkig from my part...

This is certainly more wishful thinking than prediction, but...

How about a Hangar for the Airport theme? A big ol' building that houses a smaller non-commercial plane, and have a machinist's shop all set up inside for repairing the planes. Almost like a modular extension to the Airport?

They could even throw in an Airport security fig or two...

I actually think a school would do well. My 5-year old son and my 7-year old niece always seem to build schools whenever they play with Lego. They build the desks, add minifigs for kids and the teacher, etc. I don't think it's a bad idea.

I am always really hoping for the return of the Batman licence!

But in that area of discussion, perhaps one of the new licensed themes next year will be a superhero theme, as I do believe the "batman licence" is in fact a licence for Lego to produce sets based on anything from the DC universe? (If someone could clear that up, it would be much appreciated).

I am not an IJ fan (although the pieces do come in useful for gotham) but I can definitely see the logic in bringing back IJ, as like batman, the sets prices have become very inflated due to high demand! (I also think the return of IJ is more likely than Batman at the moment).

Hopefully we will get new pictures of the 3rd wave of collectible minifigs soon, as they are really exciting for new parts and pieces!

Again to City:

How about a school? I guess they're concerned that the last things want to play with when they get home from school is, well, a school.

That would be great, Mr. Elijah Timms!

It could even be only one big set or a whole theme (like Playmobil did) with school, gym, school bus with bus station and a pupils pack.

I don't expect it to be released - but like the last years showed we didn't expect many sets we wished for years - so it's nevertheless possible.

And - like it was already said - I'm hundred percent sure that kids would like it. Surely not teens, but smaller kids (5-10) for which the City theme is mainly designed.

Don't know much about next years sets other than that there won't be any hospital theme. But I've recieved a very-very-very vague hint that gave me a feeling that we might see an increased number of female minifigs next year... But I'm far from 100% sure about that.

More female minifigs sounds great! This would be even a sign for more civilian oriented sets since it's very unsupposably that there'd be many women included in transportation sets.

A beach theme came to my mind: big set with big beach scene and hotel, yacht as medium sized set, coeast guard watch tower with little beach scene as small set and beach buggy as very small set. Something similar to the Xtreme Island theme - but without those criminals and even with more non-sport oriented structures. Let's say: a mixture between Paradisa and Xtreme Island. What do you think?

This is certainly more wishful thinking than prediction, but...

I really like that idea, Mr. Elijah Timms!

ut since I can only see a hangar for a small plane, I regrettably highly doubt it. It That would be great nevertheless! (I can't remember someone already posted this idea in the Ideas for new City sets topic?! )

To Star Wars:

Do you think that we'll get a set with some Tusken Raiders and a Bantha already next year or firstly when there'll be the 30th year celebration of ROTJ?

I'd personally like to see the Harry Potter series continued. This year we had a Hogwarts with some unexepcted characters like Filch and Flitwick (), so I wouldn't mind seeing different parts of Hogwarts with other unexpected characters, like Professor Sprout, Madame Pomfery and Madame Prince, each possibly giving us a new part of Hogwarts, like another green house, a hospital wing, and a library!

Also seeing something outside of Hogwarts, like this year was the Burrow, next year could be the Leaky Cauldron, Three Broomsticks, or The Ministry of Magic. Each could present us with a wide array of figures, like Cornelius Fudge, Rufus Scrimore, Rita Skeeter, and plenty more.

Another possibility is that the 'big set' of next year won't be Hogwarts at all. It could be Diagon Ally, have all several shops like Gringotts, Ollivanders wand shop, the Leaky Cauldron and Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

Ahh, the possibilities. :cry_happy:

According to the recent trend, LEGO will release Police Station every 2 to 3 years.

Last time 7744 was released in 2008, maybe it's boring to see Police Station again,

but I guess a new Police Station may reappear in 2011.

That would be so AWESOME! :cry_happy: I love Paradisa (even though I'm a boy) and it would be like it, except not pink! I think they will make that theme, but as a City subtheme (but it would be better as a standalone theme).

Hooray we got another follower

Yes probably not pink think causal touristy

Also there could be harbor/marina sets :oh: And pleasure yachts and helicopter tours *oh2*

and volcano playsets that lava pops out from :grin:I love this btw
