I'm pretty sure we'll get some more Harry Potter in 2011. Chances of getting a Lego HP Years 5 -7 is pretty high, I'd say, so I can see them releasing some Deathly Hallows sets around July to coincide with the 8th film.

The rumor at our local forum is that there will be the theme called "NinjaGo". At the moment there's no additional info on what it will look like or what will be included.

However, it's possible to turn to "Aquazone - Atlantis" or "Rock Raiders - Power Miners" sequels...

Once again - no info on the theme, just the name (may be the name is also subject to change?)

Lego needs to get some japanese anime licenses fer cryin out loud! The Exo-force line was my favorite since the old space sets and themes.Till they were cheapened with limited parts per set or the terrible second series with out the light-up parts.

I came accross a 3 foot high several thousand piece gundam cdrom that some guy made and for awhile was selling for $15!I remember reading in the description that there were 1,000 pages in the instructions! But I waited to long and missed getting a copy. You can see the model on brickshelf.com,there are amazing building techniques on here, stuff that I have never thought of before!A few of my favorite builders are;Moko(mastered the compact mech design),Legomaster(probably the first to master large scale mechs with robotics).

I believe it's real! Thanks for the info, ZeeK!!! :cry_happy:

This is like the same situation that happened last year, receiving the name first, Atlantic (even though it was changed to Atlantis), then after that we get some prelim pics.

Thank you very much for this information, ZeeK! :classic:

I personally fear that it'll be not a historical theme - like the Ninja theme from 2000 - but some sort of action theme (more something like Exoforce - but with ninjas vs. robots/animals/fantasy creatures etc.).

Reason: It is imo very, very unlikely that TLG either stops Kingdoms already after one year or that they release two medieval themes (Kingdoms and ninjas) in one and the same year.

Yeah, I agree that "NinjaGo" or whatever it'll be called in stores will be an action theme. And I find it likely that it'll replace World racers. For some reason World Racers seems like a one-year-theme to me. And, no, I currently have no inside information for either this ninja theme or World Racers' fate for next year.

I imagine that we won't have much longer to speculate. If I remember correctly, it is normally in August that we get information about next winter's sets from someone like whung, sam89, or legomilk.

Uhm... both those links don't really lead anywhere except Lego's homepage. :sceptic:

EDIT: Oh wait, so since it leads to Lego.com, you are saying this is proof that "NinjaGo" is an upcoming theme?

It is proof TLG registered the domain name. So they have some plans for that name. I have no idea what sort of sordid plans they might have. But since we had previous rumors about it being a new theme, then that's a likely conclusion.

I Missed out on Ninjas when they first came around, please be real! And Samurais too, maybe ninja vs. samurai?

Maybe it'll be Ninjas vs. Pirates

Gotcha. Yes, a new ninja theme would be neat, though I'm a bit afraid of how it would turn out. NinjaGo already sounds a bit cheesy, even if it's a prelim name, and with all the colorful sets with named characters that we get these days, I'm afraid it could end up as sort of a Knights Kingdom 3: Ninjas Kingdom. :sceptic: Let's hope TLG learned their lesson with the jelly knights and wont give us jelly ninjas. But then again, I guess it wouldn't be all that bad since ninjas were pretty colorful back in the day too.

I wonder if the ninjas from LU are anything to go by?

The hopeful in me wishes for something like a mix between agents and ninjas.

You mean like Ninjas VS. Cyborgs? I like the sound of that, but I'd still prefer a more historically correct approach like the last ninja theme.

By the way, why hasn't PotC been added to the list yet?

Well, not specifically cyborgs but a slightly futuristic team of ninja fighting against... "evil".

I think I would prefer something closer to the old ninja theme as well but historically-correct ninjas are just unlikely with such a cheesy name as NinjaGo. The Go really makes it sound like an action theme.

I've only stumbled across this recently. I haven't heard of the new ninja theme, but I don't really care. I don't own a single ninja set (not even a minifigure!) anyway, so it's great news to me.

I totally agree with you, Oky Wan Kenobi!

But the name "NinjaGo" does give us a hint that it will nearly hundred percently be no historial theme. Why should they otherwise add the "Go" to it?! (The new Kingdoms theme isn't called KingGo or KnightGo, too.)

Plus - like already mentioned - there'll very likely be already two historical themes (PotC and Kingdoms) in 2011. So another, third historical theme is very, very unsupposably. And that TLG stops Kingdoms already after one year is absolutely unlikely, too. So "NinjaGo" might include some historical contents - but all in all it'll be some action/sf theme (like World Racers).

Done. :classic:

I expect NinjaGo may be some sort of power-rangers-esque theme (possibly like Power Rangers Ninja Storm without the huge robot thing (or maybe even WITH the huge robot thing)

A bunch of specific called-out-by-name "good guy" heroes (with one of them specifically called out as the leader most likely), a called-out-by-name bad guy leader and a pile of generic unnamed bad-guy henchmen.

Just my 2 cents with no factual basis for my predictions...

- I see some new Indiana Jones sets coming out(no Prince of Persia-I believe the movie flopped)and I believe there will be a new Indiana Jones movie in 2011.

- A new Ninja-esque series, with a spy-type theme mixed with it.

- Definite re-releases of previous Star Wars sets with new or improved designs.

- I'm pretty sure on this one seeing the photo from SDCC, a Pirates of the Caribbean to replace the Pirates line.

- A new space line but with a focus on more real life space rockets, satellites, space stations, etc. From the old Apollo to experimental and newer.

- More historic/landmark buildings...The Louvre (be cool to see inside detail of Lego-esque artworks), A Roman Collesium, Pantheon and/or Parthenon, a large Empire State Building, a 10 year anniversary to commemorate the Twin Towers, Egyptian pyramids and Sphinx's, Chitchen Itza Pyramid, etc.

And my hopes go to a Marvel or DC superhero themed line, A Star Trek line, Battlestar Galactica (new or old versions), Lord of the Rings or a King Arthur themed Castle line(even ancient Rome would be nice), a WWII line (tanks, planes, and especially a battleship and aircraft carrier)...etc.

A dangerous mix of curiosity and boredom took me to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Donovan

That was some impressive detective work, great find Vexorian.

This line sounds like it could have some great potential. Just speculation, but I think it could have some anime influence to it with a combination of martial arts and mecha, similar to Exoforce. Exoforce was a successful line for the first year or so and we all know that Lego likes to recycle themes that are successful ie. power miners, space police. Anime is a very popular art form right now, with everyone from Lego to George Lucas trying to cash in on it. I could see TLC wanting to make sure they have some sets with a connection to something as popular as anime.

As much as I'd like another Indy movie, I'm afraid it's just not going to happen next year. There is serious discussion of a fifth film, but it would have to be shooting now for it to be out in theaters next year, and they're still working on a story that would lead to a script. I think the earliest there could possibly be another movie would be 2012, and that's if they get cracking (heh).

That said, next year is the 30th anniversary of the character's debut, so it's possible (by no means certain, but possible) there will be new merchandise and whatnot, even if there's no new movie. If there's anything aside from a new movie that would reignite the LEGO theme, a major anniversary like next year's would probably be it, so I'm cautiously hopeful.

Pretty much all of that seems likely (well, save for doing all those historic / landmark buildings in one year, but the idea of the general theme going on is still right on, I'm sure). The one I don't know about is the Space idea, but your suggestion seems at least as likely as any other (if nothing else, it could be said to have started already with the Shuttle Adventure, though whether that will get one or more companion sets, who knows...).

You're not alone in wanting all that, though I doubt any of it will happen, alas (at least, not next year; Batman has already happened, of course, and Castle could see a specifically Arthurian subtheme sometime, but with Kingdoms having just launched it'll surely continue next year). Lord of the Rings would displace whatever other Castle offering they do, I think (so, not at the same time as either Kingdoms or any King Arthur line). I doubt LEGO would ever do a whole line specifically themed around a real war from recent history; Indiana Jones is likely the closest they'll get to anything remotely WWII-related for a long time, at the very least. Star Trek? Maybe someday, but likeliest when there's some significant new Trek launch / release to tie it to (the next movie, say).

I like the name "NinjaGo", because if it involves ninjas it sounds like it will be Japanese-inspired, and the title seems to be in line with the ridiculous excitement level of some Japanese TV show or episode names (or even one LEGO set name-- see this Japanese Kabaya promo). If only we westerners could get as excited about things as the Japanese do...

Meanwhile, I don't at all mind a Ninja-based action theme. A lot of people seem to hate on colorful themes like Knights' Kingdom, Atlantis, and Power Miners, but I feel that bright colors and LEGO go together splendidly.
