lightningtiger Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 In wikipedia we trust ? Wouldn't Lego go to Disney or Time Warner or again Universal (Clutch Powers) to make another movie ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
LegoDad42 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 You're right on Blondie-Wan! With the 30th of Indy next year, I think there's a good chance of some kind of comemorative type set, then like you said a possible movie for 2012 with even more new Indy sets. Man, I'm crossin' finger and toes on this line continuing for a little while longer. With the historic/architect-type sets, I'm thinking perhaps one large set, then the other suggestions I had can be done in the Architect series style, small/micro like city scale. That would be fun with the background/history booklets they come with. Be great teaching tools for grade school teachers. Let's keep the possitive vibs goin' for Indy! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 There is strong chance that 'NinjaGo' is a GO ! So might be another Disney theme - clue...... it's in Duplo. Though we might have to wait for another week or so to get true confirmation of the above. This information did come from a reliable source. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Delta 38 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 A dangerous mix of curiosity and boredom took me to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Donovan This is ironic, as the last post I made on Eurobricks was actually about Wikipedia not being too reliable. Still, it may be real, but I'm not too sure... Now I'm almost certain it's going to be some sort of multicoloured Power Rangers-like thing. Which is still fine by my standards. Quote
wesker Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 As much as I'd like another Indy movie, I'm afraid it's just not going to happen next year. There is serious discussion of a fifth film, but it would have to be shooting now for it to be out in theaters next year, and they're still working on a story that would lead to a script. I think the earliest there could possibly be another movie would be 2012, and that's if they get cracking (heh). That said, next year is the 30th anniversary of the character's debut, so it's possible (by no means certain, but possible) there will be new merchandise and whatnot, even if there's no new movie. If there's anything aside from a new movie that would reignite the LEGO theme, a major anniversary like next year's would probably be it, so I'm cautiously hopeful. A S@H exclusive would be a good way to go. Quote

I know, I am actually the guy who added the [citation needed] tag to it. I think that it is unlikely it is not true. Forget about that wiki entry for a second, we still know that LEGO has registered the ninjago.com domain, so they are indeed planning something. More so, that entry on Donovan's credits would be very surreal to be made up. I mean, to whom would it occur to do such a wikipedia vandal of modifying a not well known voice actor's biography to include a movie credit of such an obscure name? I will keep my doubts about such movie thing being true. But what I can say is that LEGO is going to do something called NinjaGo, it may be a theme, or a short or both. Oky Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Lego is a toy company. I would be very surprised if they made a movie without toys to go along with it. The fact that this will be tied to a movie makes it the more clear that it will be something with named heroes, possibly with different colors and personalities, super villains, and an overall exaggerated "coolness factor" to appeal to kids. Not sure how I feel about that. I just hope the figs wont be anime styled like Exo Force. Those heads just don't mix very well with the normal ones. Quote

What confuses me is that assuming that the theme does exist, would they have plans for a movie so quickly? In fact, would they release a movie at all? Perhaps it's going to be like one of those short films like that Atlantis one done a while back. That would be a lot more realistic... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 I've got a theory about the Kingdoms theme and a possible new historical theme: If TLG does the new Kingdoms theme like they did the previous "Castle" theme we might see for 2011 and 2012: 2011: january Exclusive: City Square spring: Pirates of the Caribbean summer: new fraction for Kingdoms like forest men or barbarians 2012: january Exclusive: UCS Caslte or MVV add-on spring: new historical theme: Western or Romans summer: only a few Kingdoms sets combining all previous sections from 2010 and 2011 What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I totally agree with you, Oky Wan Kenobi! But the name "NinjaGo" does give us a hint that it will nearly hundred percently be no historial theme. Why should they otherwise add the "Go" to it?! (The new Kingdoms theme isn't called KingGo or KnightGo, too.) Klaus-Dieter Maybe The "Go" is something that the ninjas will say before they are on their mission. For example, the team of ninjas about to break to do their seperate missions. Before they go, they say this: Ok ready? 1 2 3! NINJAGO!, and then they start their missions. Now on to city: They have Wind Turbine Transport, which uses a windmill. They have the Family House, which uses solar panels. The have the Octan Tanker, which uses oil. So...how about an energy series? Maybe a geothermal well? Also a hydroelectric dam? Maybe with a turbine that really spins! How about an oil rig? Maybe two of them (One on land and the other on water). And a coal mine with a vehicle that can bring out the coal. A substation maybe? Every city has to have electricity at the right amount of volts. And finally, a little electric pole that come with wire(Wire meaning Lego string)that you can buy in little packs of three and put around your city. (Also you could tie the string together and wire it to the substation to make a fake electric circuit Sadly, these are only thoughts and will never happen . Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Since we know now all 10xxx sets for 2010, it's sure that 10217 will be the 2011 January Exclusive. I could well imagine - and I really even hope so - that it'll be a/the City Square. What do you think? Perhaps in 2012 there would be an Olympics theme & videogame! That would be awesome! Blondie-Wan Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 A S@H exclusive would be a good way to go. Indeed it would. I've long thought that the Dunn & Duffy Circus train (from the "young Indy" Utah 1912 prologue of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) would be a great "special" set to commemorate the theme or send it out with, à la the Imperial Flagship for the Pirates theme. There are plenty of other possibilities as well, though... Quote
toatali Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Seeing as I am Wappanese (White and obsessed with Japan) I would love NinjaGo to be Japan influenced but also (as unlikley as it is) I would an A Team themed line. Quote
legogirl19 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 My thoughts and hopes for Lego 2011 are: There will be a Disney "Cars" theme in Lego and not just Duplo I would love to see a cargo harbor, civilian harbor, yacht, bank(maybe modular?), post office, supermarket Farm theme--sheep grazing land, horse stables Exclusive: City Square, would be kinda cool, but they did just put out the Town Plan recently Toy Story 1-3---It's a good possibility for a few more sets, maybe a Mr. Potato Head or Slinky Dog character, if they can get the licensing! Prince of Persia-- will be discontinued Pirates of the Caribbean--- I am super excited for this one, but have heard from a Lego employee that the sets and possibly the video game will be based solely on the 4th movie! Darn, NO Black Pearl or Flying Dutchmen, would've loved to see those! NinjaGo--maybe some type of Ninja Lego Game, like the other Lego Games but more "collectible" like Pokemon or Bakugan Collectable Minifigures Series 3 and 4--Is a given, but harder to collect "all" due to no barcodes Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 'legogirl19' did touch on one thing I beleive to have an air of truth to...... CARS in system not just Duplo ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote

legogirl19 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 My sources also confirm minifig scale Cars, harbour an egyptian themes. I hadn't heard about the "egyptian" theme, but that sounds cool too! Maybe a cleopatra, servants, pyramids.....that's exciting!!! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) My sources also confirm minifig scale Cars, harbour an egyptian themes. Thank you very much for this information, Cwetqo! I really hope this information is right. I even hope that this Egyptian theme will be minimum that historically correct than the one from around 2000 - and not a fantasy or only action theme. An Adventure based Egyptian theme (like the one from around 2000) would be cool - but a historical Egyptian theme would be even more amazing! My thoughts and hopes for Lego 2011 are: [...] I would love to see a cargo harbor, civilian harbor, yacht, bank(maybe modular?), post office, supermarket Farm theme--sheep grazing land, horse stables Exclusive: City Square, would be kinda cool, but they did just put out the Town Plan recently I totally agree with you, legogirl19! That would be absolutely amazing! In January it's then three years ago that Town Plan was released. So a big City Exclusive in Jan. is very likely. Plus which set from which theme would you expect if not (a city square from) City? Klaus-Dieter Edited August 29, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
user Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Egypt? If that's true than it will be a dream come true for me! I've wanted to get the pharaoh's forbidden ruins set for years just for the Egyptian parts from ebay but never managed to get one and i my opinion there aren't very many other decent egyptian sets out there other than the Indiana Jones temple. So this would be an awesome oprotunity to get some new great figs (Anubis head anybody?) some awesome new parts in tan and maybe a new sarcophagus mold! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Well, it seems like we vill be getting egyptian theme after all. Any ideas on waht sets ould we get? Pyramid is in my opinion a no-go, so we will probably get some temples tombs, carts and so on... Pyramides and a Sphinx will be there hundred percently. Apart from that I'd expect more or less the same like in the Adventure based Egyptian theme from around 2000 - but (hopefully) without adventurers. I could even imagine a sedan for the pharaoh and a small Egyptian hut. Hopefully the camel from PoP will be used, too. Some Egyptian grave roobers and the "ship of the death" (for transporting the dead pharaoh on the Nile to his last resting-place (the pyramide)) would be amazing. I wonder if there will also be slaves, since they were key part of egyptian life, Some weeks ago I watched a documentary about the pyramides of Gizeh and how they were built. It was told that the newest state of the scientific knowledge is the pyramides themselves weren't built by slaves - that's only a legend. It was mainly the population from the hinterland and experienced stone cutters and other mechanics. Klaus-Dieter Quote
squiz Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 not too amazed with the news of an egyptian theme. Feels like there has already been a fair few egyptian sets in the adventurers theme. Would prefer roman/greek theme but thats been discussed alot already. Probably feel differently when i see the pictures. And maybe this is the first in an 'Eras' theme, with a different historical period visited each year.... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) Probably feel differently when i see the pictures. And maybe this is the first in an 'Eras' theme, with a different historical period visited each year.... Totally agreement in this point, squiz. Playmobil released its Roman theme first and then the Egyptian theme. So perhaps TLG does it the way around - firstly Egypts and then Romans (which would be even correct in chronology. And that would be totally amazing! The reason why TLG possible decided to release an Egyptian theme (first) is because there are much more ideas for buildings in which even the most kids are interested then in a Roman theme. (Of course kids would like a Collosseum - but even a hot springs, a Circus Maximus or a Roman farm? - In contrast pyramides, Sphinx, catacombes and different tombs and ships are really interesting for the most kids, too.) Plus a Roman theme would surely based around the Roman army - so a more agressive theme. Egypts in contrast would be a more cultural theme which is very exciting itself - it does not necessarily need soldiers and army stuff. Klaus-Dieter Edited August 30, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 If there is an Egypt theme in 2011, I would really like to see and even think that it is realistic to await: (size, price and number of minifigs oriented on the current Kingdoms wave) Big Pyramide (100 Euros) with treasure/grave-chamber, oasis with draw well and palm, small hut, sarcophagus, sedan, treasure, camel, two grave robbers, two Egypt warriors, pharaoh in white-golden outfit, mummy and two men to carry the sedan Big Tomb (50 Euros) with many columns, treasure/grave-chamber, treasure, sarcophagus, camel, grave robber, mummy, two Egypt warriors and pharaoh in tiger outfit Sphinx (20 Euros) wih treasure chamber, treasure, grave robber, Egypt warrior and skeletton "Black Wolf Statue" (10 Euros) (like 5938) with hidden treasure, skeletton, grave robber and Egypt warrior Hidden Treasure (7 Euros) column with hidden treasure inside, Egypt warrior and grave robber Cleopatra (3 Euros) with throne Egypt Priest (3 Euros) with altar What do you think? All in all I hope that an Egypt theme will - at least which concerns the architecture - be very similar to the awesome Egypt theme of 1998/1999 - but without vehicles and adventurers. Blondie-Wan Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I'm very excited by the prospect of both Egyptian-themed sets and non-Duplo Cars ones, and hope it's all true. not too amazed with the news of an egyptian theme. Feels like there has already been a fair few egyptian sets in the adventurers theme. Would prefer roman/greek theme but thats been discussed alot already. There were indeed plenty of Egyptian-themed sets in the first iteration of Adventurers, but that was over a decade ago. I don't know what things are like where you shop, but none of my local stores carry much stock from the mid- to late-'90s... Probably feel differently when i see the pictures. And maybe this is the first in an 'Eras' theme, with a different historical period visited each year.... That would be a great idea, though I'm not sure TLG would use such an approach in marketing towards their core customers (kids). It'd be nice, though... One other tantalizing possibility (a long shot, perhaps, but still) occurs to me regarding possible Egyptian sets. Given the interest many others here are showing in a regular Egypt theme, I don't know if my idea is actually something everyone else would prefer, but I for one would absolutely love it if it turned out to be one (or more!) new Indiana Jones sets commemorating the 30th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark and/or the Indy series in general (Raiders is set largely in Egypt, of course)...
