Snefroe 1:

We have to talk about two different situations that curiously happened at least here in Mexico: the 80's-90's period and the recent "new millenium" period. During the 80's and the 90's we get as many and exclusive sets as the US costumers, from Space to Pirates and Classic Castle, and of course all the waves that were released during the 90's. I have for example Outback sets, Divers sets, Ninja minifig packs, Star Wars minifig packs, the Freestyle Disarmer (these plastic thing exclusive for some Freestyle sets and which you can separate almost any kind of system pieces), every single Castle set from Falcon's Castle to Forest men was released here. I also have exclusive packages like the Mummy thing in which you could store the pieces from that set (don't remember the name) and the Zeppeling, of course, both from Adventurers.

King Leo's Castle and Dino Compound, as long as the Ninja Fortress with the "misterious" Ninja Princess mfig were released here...but then we have to talk about the second situation. During this 90's wave there was inclusive a Mexican Lego Club of which I conserve the ID card (scratched here and here because I had like 10 y. o. when I received it and didn't know how much these things value), but then suddenly at the end of 2000 year, everything stopped here. In fact, the only lego sets you could buy in 2001 were the SW ones...by december of that year Lego Mexico imported Hagrid's Hut and Gringotts Bank only. During this time I began to search through the web about Lego info, and I discovered the Life in Mars sets, the City sets, Basketball, etc., etc. Then it was till 2002 that Bionicle appeared around here along with the rest of the HP and SW sets.

And again, we were lack of sets over here while there were not that great but significant lines like Studios and Xtreme Team, of course, Alpha Team too, which never seen mexican light "officialy". 2003 we only got SW and some Orient Expedition sets: the Scorpion Palace and the Mt. Everest Temple. It was in 2004 when I met a friend on Mercadolibre.com.mx (ebay.com in Mexico) who looked everywhere and get me the Dragon Fortress from OE, the City collection sets from 2003, the Speed Train from I think 2001, and then I began to buy from her the lovely HP collection from 2004, the Millenium Falcon and the Ferrari Sets. By 2005 I began to buy through ebay.com the KKII sets, and to find exclusives like Knights' Barge and Dark Fortress Landing, and etc, etc. Now, if I haven't got a lot of sets is because is really expensive to import by myself sets from US, but still, jeje, I do it.

I just love the Lego sets and it is sad to find out that Lego Mexico didn't bring last year's KK, SW, not even Dino Attack, and of course no Vikings!! Only Bionicle, HP and two small SW sets.

But, well, what the hell, I'll keep on collecting Lego sets till Lego Mexico realises that there are still LOTS and LOTS of Latinamerican fans that also like to have the good stuff.

;-)
