Holodoc Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 If anybody would like me to start cheering for Germany, please send a bank draft for twenty pounds sterling to my work address, thanks. Errr... no? Haven't you been a secret fan of Argentinia? Quote
Plastic Nurak Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 This WC is more exciting now without big part of "old glorious snooty teams" than before. GO, ARGENTINA, GO! Que viva el Dié! Quote
prateek Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) Is it just me or does the Final 8 bracket look weird? Uruguay vs Ghana Argentina vs Germany Netherlands vs Brazil Paraguay vs Spain Maybe it's all the S. American teams. Edited June 30, 2010 by prateek Quote
Zorbas Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 You see, I'm a walking football jinx. During Euro 2004 (held in Portugal, coincidence lovers!), Ireland also didn't qualify so my support was up for grabs. And every team I decided to follow immediately lost their next match and went home. Every. Single. Time. Right up to the final. I mean, how the hell else could Greece possibly have won? A HUGE thanks from me for not supporting my country's team in Euro 2004. That explains it all. Quote
prateek Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Oh noes! Two full days without FIFA World Cup. I'm suffering from WC Withdrawal! I'm afraid what it'll be like after July 11 Quote
Dunjohn Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 A HUGE thanks from me for not supporting my country's team in Euro 2004. That explains it all. I had been supporting everyone except Portugal because Portugal ran rampant throughout the tournament. I only switched at the last minute because they looked so inevitable Well, let's run an experiment, shall we? GO GERMANY!! Quote
posades Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I had been supporting everyone except Portugal because Portugal ran rampant throughout the tournament. I only switched at the last minute because they looked so inevitable Well, let's run an experiment, shall we? GO GERMANY!! *puts money on Argentina* If I had to guess the winners of the quarterfinals, they would be these: Uruguay Argentina Netherlands Spain Now let's see how badly I jinx these teams. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 My picks would be: Spain Uruguay Brazil And at this point I really don't know about Germany/Argentina, I think it could go either way. I'll say Argentina, so hopefully I'll jinx them. Quote
prateek Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Okay, we're picking now I see. Here's my picks: Ghana Germany Netherlands Spain All S. American teams will be eliminated Quote
Piranha Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 hmmm I would say Brazil Spain Ghana Germany (insert soccer ball emoticon here) Quote
Joey Lock Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Yup, our boys were just too good. But who knows. I bet the game would have been much more exciting if the second goal for england had counted. I mean it was clearly in. In the end we would have won as well ;) ... with penatly kicks :D Mabye not. The Second goal disallowed made the team lose faith in winning. If we had that goal, we might have had diffrent team talk and half time and got out there and showed the spirit that won both wars! Huzzah! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 What is it with you guys and the war references? Only one more day until the first quarterfinal! Quote
Alex the Great Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I had been supporting everyone except Portugal because Portugal ran rampant throughout the tournament. I only switched at the last minute because they looked so inevitable Well, let's run an experiment, shall we? GO GERMANY!! So You're the one who got my team out!? How bout you root for Spain? I have no respect for Capdevilla anymore for falling down like that when the guy didn't even come close to touching him. Well I guess I have to root for the Netherlands now... Quote
Joey Lock Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 What is it with you guys and the war references? Because they were big victories, now Germans are kinda better than us at most stuff, Cars, government, life span, general quality of life, artitecture, music, I respect all that but the wars are the one thing we can all come back to incase Germany gets to cocky. But its really just a big joke British people always do. Quote

Dunjohn Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) Netherlands beat Brazil! I had a feeling they would, Netherlands are probably the best team in Europe right now. Edited July 2, 2010 by Dunjohn Quote
Erdbeereis Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Wow! Amazing that the Netherlands won, I didn't expect that. They should make it to the final now, unless Uruguay or Ghana has a fantastic game. Quote
blhc11 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Netherlands beat Brazil! I had a feeling they would, Netherlands are probably the best team in Europe right now. That's what they said... pun-intended, I personaly was rooting for the Netherlands even though many other people from my country were rooting for Brazil(Portugal, duh), mainly because they're nice people(yes, that's how much I know about football... teehee). Cheers. By- A bananular phone. Quote
-zenn Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Today was good, we were watching the game at work and celebrated afterwards. *hands out beers* Quote
