Superkalle Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Just noticed that the minifig collectors series 1 is now sold out at Shop@Home in Europe (checked for Sweden, Germany, UK). Stlll seems to be available in US.

BrickClick Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I beleive they have been sold out for quite awhile. I treid to order some a few weeks ago and they had none left.
AFOL SF Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Can't seem to get this at my Lego store (I was told it's always sold out the first day it's stocked), so I placed 2 separate orders at S@H. Still waiting for my first order to arrive (orders placed in a week's interval). Three weeks ago, I found these at TRU for $1.99, I bought 8 packs. At that time, there were at least a box and a half but I recon, let others have the chance to buy some. Last week when I went back (they're sold out, that's because this guy who got there ahead of me bought the whole, unopened box!), the price has gone up to $2.49 per pack. Good luck to all of us who hasn't completed a set yet.
WhiteFang Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Singapore had ran out of stock within a week launch. I got mine at the first day upon arrival, now there is not a single packet left in any of the LEGO stores.
MrTools Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I just got back from my Lego store, and they were sold out. They said they were only getting one more shipment.
squiz Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Havent seen any since they frst came out either. I wonder if TLG underestimated how popular these would be.
Big Cam Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I'm in the US and my lo al toys r us said they were in stock for a few days only. TLG better produce a decent quantity of these, its pretty unfair.
brickzone Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 They are still available on the ground so to speak in Ireland at Argos, Smyths Toys, and Art & Hobby for €2.80, €2.50 and €2.75 respectively. Argos seem to have plenty as both outlets I've been to have switched to not only having one box out all the time, but two. They still have stock despite the minifigs apparently selling like hot cakes (according to a check-out operator). One of my local Argos stores is by one of the local Smyths outlets and another Argos is by A&H so it seems unlikely anyone will have a hard time finding the desired minifig! Still interested to see if Tesco stock them, as it would be a handy option for series 2 (I have all of series 1 already now plus a couple of desired duplicates) and would mean a third option for them at the local shopping centre. Tesco did recently add the Yellow Lego Truck and new Racers to their line-up at my local store but I'd expect them to add some more summer sets shortly.

Agreed, especially when a lot of people are buying these things to resell at marked up prices. See what I mean? I also think that they need to rig the barcode thing so that things are more random. Notice how that ebay ad claimed to have 5 sealed cheerleaders. While the barcodes are great for us folk who actually want to use the figs we buy, they're also great for people who abuse the system for the sole purpose of ripping people off. Surely this had to have been anticipated. Even if the figs were packaged as sets, I'd imagine the same thing would happen. There aren't any easy solutions...aside from manufacturing more. Honestly though, I can't believe how limited of a run they really are. Here for two or three months, then gone. I think that it would be worth their while to at least extend that to anywhere from 6 months to 1 year.

Wow, you think Lego would of made TONS of them. Do you have the 5 per customer limit like we do in the US ?
Fugazi Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Ironically I received last night in the mail the latest LEGO (UK) Club Magazine, and they're heavily promoting the Series 1 minifigs in a separate booklet with bios and comics. Just a bit late for that!

Just a bit late for that! This makes me think they must be producing more, I cna't see something this big having a run that short. Grrr.
Apache Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 This makes me think they must be producing more, I cna't see something this big having a run that short.Grrr. You gotta be right. Maybe they wanted to test the waters with a limited run and now that they are seeing how HOT these things are, we will start to see the Market Flooded. Can you imagine getting leftover mass produced series 1 figs at 50% off when series 2 comes out? I sure can :)
squiz Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 This article suggests that lego were caught out by the high demand for these figs. Expect a higher production for series two. Also seems that the barcode identifiers wont be available on the series 3 bags. Im pretty disapointed by this, i do think its a bit of a con to sell them blind.
The Green Brick Giant Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 You gotta be right. Maybe they wanted to test the waters with a limited run and now that they are seeing how HOT these things are, we will start to see the Market Flooded. Can you imagine getting leftover mass produced series 1 figs at 50% off when series 2 comes out? I sure can :) Series 2 comes out in about a month, there are no more series one, if you missed out then you missed out. LEGO really screwed this up royally in a fashion that only LEGO could. I'm ignoring the next waves, this is such a mess I'll just stick to the normal sets that I know I can find at a decent store for a decent price.
brickzone Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 The Green Brick, Actually I wouldn't blame Lego (except for S@H availability). It looks like some toy retailers in some countries were skeptical about these and didn't order much. As I pointed out, there is ample supply here in Ireland at present and I think it *most* unlikely that Lego is specially favoring us. No, it is that two major retailers here are very pro-Lego, Argos and Smyth's Toys, and both obviously ordered a sensible quantity of the minifigs!
jamtf Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 When I read all this, I just had to drive to Germany which I did today to get my first batch of collectible minifigs. I got all the ones I wanted (excluding the zombie and wrestler which are useless to me) in smaller stores in remote towns just accross the Dutch-German border. I did not bother to go to inner cities or larger shopping centres since I knew that would be bad news for sure considering the fact they are cheap impulse buys for most people. I got what I wanted and the store people told me that they had 3 of these boxes max. and that they were running out of stock. They would not get extra shipments of these items so sold out is really sold out and better luck next time. I guess that Lego underestimated the demand for these figs. Children that can not identify the figs simply buy a bunch - say 5 to 10 bags - from their pocket money to get as many different ones as possible. They simply trade off the duplicates with their friends. They are also very handy as a simple and small gift for all sorts of occasions. And of course there are the AFOLs and the parents who bought them as well.
Asterios Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 well my local TRU just got in another box, but sadly no money to buy anymore.
robuko Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 John Lewis in Oxford Street London still has availability on these figures, I completed my collection of series 1 there
