BrickClick Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Man I can't wait to see pics! With all this new set news I'm gonna be broke before long
Cwetqo Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Well, it's not going to be the largest set (third if I'm correct) London Tower Bridge on the River Thames such as the world-famous landmark since 1894! Rare colored parts, the latest building techniques, Tower Bridge is a drawbridge that opens and consists of two pairs of towers. Challenged in making, and also recommend it for display. Tower Bridge as a single unit, you can also lock can be broken down into units and to carry. London taxi, a traditional double-decker bus (London), yellow truck is green with a bike. The model size width 102 cm, 45 cm 26 height cm depth No of pieces: 4287
Aanchir Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Sounds simply amazing. I wonder if it'll be minifigure scale (seems at a smaller scale it would be awfully hard to include a bike). I'll certainly be holding out for pictures of this thing.
ZO6 Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Holy smokes! What is the date today? Is someone playing a joke again!? This is wonderful news. Here we are just voting on what world icon we'd like to see for 2012, and now we have word on what this year's exclusive will be. The Tower Bridge will look absolutely marvelous, it sounds like it will be huge! Fantastic choice, I really can't wait to see pictures. This will likely have to be a must have for myself. The inclusion of vehicles is an interesting choice as well. Exciting!
EDGE Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 Wow $438? That must be some set, i cant wait to see some pictures if that is actually real. LEGO is very expensive in Japan. 10181 Eiffel Tower, Retail Price 39,900yen : about US$438.
prateek Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Okay, we have another Landmark Series set on our hands. This is cool news! I can't wait and see how they make the details on the bridge
RoryoCox Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 This news is amazing. I want some pictures to be sure though. It sounds great and will be a must have.
Holodoc Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 10214 TOWER BRIDGE has appeared on Amazon Japan. That is good news! Thanks for the info, EDGE. Now it's time for grogall to take over!
Pirate Pete Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Aparently this set will look something like this: Now I really can't wait to see how TLC recreates this famous landmark!
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Another great set that I will have to have. The Lego company seems to be getting scary good at seperating me from my money!
squiz Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Another great set that I will have to have. The Lego company seems to be getting scary good at seperating me from my money! Haha well put ! Sounds great, cant wait to see some pictures. Wonder why its on amazon Japan first?
FinalFeature Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 The Lego company seems to be getting scary good at seperating me from my money! Ditto on that! Thanks for the info EDGE. I wonder how it will look in Lego. LegoGalactus
just2good Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Oh, I cannot wait 'til some pictures! But $400+ is a little too expensive....
Cardinal Brick Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 The price seems very high, though perhaps it'll be less in the UK if it has a Routemaster style bus and a taxi it sounds like it'll be an amazing set. Can't wait for images.
BrickClick Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Sounds simply amazing. I wonder if it'll be minifigure scale (seems at a smaller scale it would be awfully hard to include a bike). I'll certainly be holding out for pictures of this thing. Wait I just noticed this... which means... this set is going to be HUGE unless TLG somehow comes up with a way to build a mini bike, But that is highly unlikely at least with the pieces we have at the moment... DLuders Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 From the Lego Pressroom website http://www.lego.com/dan/info/default.asp?p...mp;archive=true , there's a Sept 2003 image of a Lego Tower Bridge. Do you think it will be as magnificent and large as this?
Cardinal Brick Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Do you think it will be as magnificent and large as this? Not quite that magnificent, as I'm sure you'd need about 10 times the number of parts to build that, but I'm sure it'll be good
drdavewatford Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 <groans> OMG - another 'must have in this year of 'must haves'...! I don't recall a line up of sets which has caught my imagination quite so much for many, many years. There's the new trains, the space shuttle, Grand Emporium, the PoP sets, the upcoming Harry Potter sets, the Q3 and Q4 Star Wars sets (including the awesome 'UCS' shuttle) etc. etc. I don't know whether to laugh or cry - I'll surely laugh at the Lego, but cry when I see my credit card statement . :-)
krystalKING Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) From what I see,the rare color's mentioned in the translation and the picture of the real thing combined say this set will have lots of light blue.and that white bicycle I saw a while back as a April fools day joke, may actually belong to this! Edited June 11, 2010 by krystalKING
metalandi Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I'm not colelcting city things anymore, but if this looks good i'll probably also get it at some point. I'm positive that the design will be great, but i wonder if it will feature any interior or functioning mechanisms aswell. Probably not.
DLuders Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Still, one can dream.... (from http://www.flickr.com/photos/hartnupj/3014730901/ and http://safa.tv/447,12-famous-structures-in...-in-lego,9.html ):
