Wowplayer Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 So after being a member of Eurobricks for a few years and not having as much time as I would like to add to discussions and such. I have finally completed my first Castle MOC, and I've been eager to share it with all you guys. I appreciate any kind of feedback anyone wants to provide. Please provide feedback based on my MOC. I know the pictures could have been better I have a fairly large Lego collection. But I built this cathedral out of a much smaller percentage of my total Lego collection. I used pieces for this MOC out of the following sets: 7094 King's Castle Siege 7097 Trolls' Mountain Fortress 7029 Skeleton Ship Attack 7036 Dwarves' Mine 7093 Skeleton Tower 7092 Skeletons' Prison Carriage 7091 Knights' Catapult Defense 7009 The Final Joust 7090 Crossbow Attack (x2) The brickshelf folder when it becomes public is here. Brickshelf is taking to long.... here's my flickr page. So the build took me about 25 hours over 4 days. A view from the back. I wasn't able to finish the back the way I had intended to due to lacking the right kind of pieces, as well as in general, I ran out of pieces Here's the front The roof sort of flips up the podium the few benches and a chandelier a view from the entrance with the roof in place, and using the camera's flash the back. I think this turned out pretty good considering my sad, yet innovative design for stained glass windows Well check out the folder when it become public for more images. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for viewing ~Wowplayer Quote
Admiral Ron Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 WOW!!! That is a beautiful cathredal! I am building one myself, but you seemed to build it perfectly! Quote
Smack Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Agreed! This is a wonderful MOC that deserves some props. I especially like the pulpit area both inside and out. Here's hoping it gets put on the front page! Keep up the good work! Quote
HumanPackMule Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Very cool! I love the use of dark red and the reverse half-pyramid pieces(forget what they're called) along the roof. Base of it looks cool too. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Great MOC. It is a very nice cathedral. The colors are excellent. I love the dark red. You also did a great job with the opening roof design and the interior. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Very nice indeed 'Wowplayer' - what a church eh ? Great work on both the interior with the pews and glass work to stone walls on the exterior ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Wowplayer Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 Thank you all for your kind remarks! I really appreciate it I had been wanting for quite a long time to build something like this, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I'm now in the process of building my next castle MOC, but I'm using my Knights' Kingdom II collection. We'll see how it turns out. Quote
Marckeyh Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Wow, that looks awesome! Nice way of opening the roof, nicely detailed interior etc. I really like the flames on the chandelier :) Quote
LuxorV Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Looks very nice, Wowplayer, both in the internal and external details! P.S. - Could you please reduce the pics size to 800 pixels maximum, as by our Guidelines? Thank you. Quote
Cutty Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Frankly? I am astounded this does not generate more interest here! To me your cathedral is almost perfect, given that you used a limited assortment of elements from official sets. And perhaps because of that deliberate limitation, it emanates the aura of an official set. If TLC ever decided to release a Castle-line cathedral*, I would not be astounded to it being VERY SIMILAR to your great effort! Double thumbs-up from me! *which they probably won't... Quote
fff Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Very nice indeed! Also the colours have been very good selected. Congratulations! Quote
Holodoc Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 What a beautiful cathedral, Wowplayer! I really like the design, don't be too disappointed about not having the right brick/color at the time you need them. That's an experience we all had once in while. Of course the back of the cathedral would have been better looking without those dark red pieces, but that isn't really a letdown. But why didn't you use transparent 1x1 bricks, or 1x1 round bricks or even 1x1 plates for the windows? That definitely would be better than the cones you used. The opening roof is a nice addition and great for playability and I love the interior. Well done! Quote
Wowplayer Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) But why didn't you use transparent 1x1 bricks, or 1x1 round bricks or even 1x1 plates for the windows? That definitely would be better than the cones you used. I agree, and would have rather used your technique for the windows. However, as I said earlier, I limited myself to only using parts from my current castle sets from the fantasy era theme. So I only had about 3900 pieces to build this set from. And believe it or not, none of those sets come with the pieces you described (1x1 pieces) at least not enough. I think I have like maybe a grand total of 10 1x1 pieces available to me from the limited collection of sets I was using. P.S. LuxorV, thanks for the heads up, I'll work on reducing the images. LuxorV Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 P.S. LuxorV, thanks for the heads up, I'll work on reducing the images. Great, thank you Quote
Batbrick Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Wow! This is amazing for your first Castle creation WowPlayer, and made entirely from your sets as well? Brilliant. I love the diversity of the colours, and the outside of the building has a great scheme of simplicity, and not adding too much detail where there doesn't need to be such as on the roof, a problem I always fall for. The interior is great too, though not quite as good, but I love the pews, and the chandeliers even more so Batbrick Away! Quote
Euvor Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Very nice moc! I really like the benches and the chandelier. Quote
Big Cam Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I'll be honest, the front view of the outisde, isn't too impressive, but the windows, the rear of the castle, and the interior are just awesome. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Very impressive way to introduce yourself to Castle! Quote
Eskallon Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Amazing work. It is amazing what you have done with the pieces. I like the fact that you can open it up to see the inside. Quote
Tycho McKorley Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I'm impressed with what you were able to put together with such a limited inventory of pieces. Quote
Apollo Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 I really, REALLY love how you used the fire in this MOC Not to mention, the stone formations you used in the side gives this Cathedral a very natural, edifice-like feel, which I also love! It is very powerful. I also like the neat details at the rear of the building, it is all so neatly and well done!! Great job, Wowplayer! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Wow, that's an impressive Cathedral Wowplayer. I love both the exterior and interior works you've done - very Cathedral-like. Great job! Quote
