Sarg_Kulo Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 So who's looking forward to this? After just seeing the firrst one and loving it I'm going to see this as soon as it hits cinema's. Although people kept telling me how sad the ending to teh first one was... why? Did I miss something, I was expecting someone to die :-/ Quote
The Hordesman Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Sad ending? Whats that? No idea. Oversensitive? Yeah, I loved the first movie (though when someone expects a kiddy movie one does not expect small birds dying) so I'll automatically see the second one. The Rat/Squirrel is a modern classic among wierd characters, I heard that the movie would be mostly about him, but I dont think thats true. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted March 25, 2006 Author Posted March 25, 2006 Which small birds are you refering to? The dodos? *wacko* As for the squirrel dude I thought he was the best character ever, and his little epiogue was great. :D Quote
The Hordesman Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Which small birds are you refering to? The dodos? *wacko* Aye. I spy with my little eye a female mammoth from one of the trailers, though of course, the majority of the trailers was about the little "squirrat" or what you like to call him, doesnt he have a name? I think I saw it somewere... Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 Well if I said little squirrel dudes to any of my friends they'd know who I mean ;-) And yeah the trailer was pretty much just him, but then so was the first one. He's like a little Ice Age mascot *sweet* Quote
The Hordesman Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Well, apparently his name was "Scrat", but there seems to have been a legal twist around it (someone created the term "Sqrat" for a squirrel/rat hybrid just before the movie was made), so the "scrat" has not been called "scrat" alot because of this. Quote
Aredhel Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I really loved the first movie. I saw the teaser from Ice Age 2 last year and in my opinion it is just the time to see it ;-) Here in Germany it begins at 6th April, so I waited long enough now X-D Quote
JoeMI6 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I saw the original for the first time yesterday, it's brilliant. One of the best animated films i've seen in a while. Now I can't wait for the sequel. It looks to be one of the best films out so far this year. Quote
Zane Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I found Ice Age to be...nothing special. It had the usual CGI storyline - guy turns good, there's a soppy moment between friends and the talkative character 'hilariously' interrupts....c'mon, it basically Shrek on ice. There were even LINES from Shrek, and scenes from it when Manny and sloth-guy met. There was no clever humour at all. Sure, Scrat rocked, but that doesn't make up for the generic CGI movie formula that is repeated over and over these days. TT Quote

These things do not make the movie less interesting because there are just these little "comparisons" in the character which you can see in a lot of movies. Not only the CGI movies have bad characters who turn to good or the other way round. In every movie is a bad side and a good side. Would you say that every movie is the same then? When you compare for example the Pixar/Disney movies you have characters or voices who were in the movie before or show things of the next project or something. Like the boy in "the Incredibles" who sits on his baby trike has the same voice like Nemo (I do not know the voices in english, but in the german versions it is exactly the same)! Quote
ApophisV Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 It had the usual CGI storyline - guy turns good, there's a soppy moment between friends and the talkative character 'hilariously' interrupts.... Isn't this the basic storyline at almost EVERY movie / book / ... ???? It's almost ALWAYS good vs. evil, so what the heck are you complaining about? If Ice Age is Shrek on ice, Star Wars is the tragic version of Shrek in space! :-/ And actually I had a really great time watching Ice Age, probably I'm too immature to get the unfunnieness of it though... *sad* Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted March 26, 2006 Author Posted March 26, 2006 The only thing I didn't like about it was the human's massive nose, he could probably fit his fist up his nostril X-O Quote

When you pratically live on movies like these, you notice annoying simalarities. I'm not saying it's bad because it's the G/E storyline, it's the way it's carried out - in an unoriginal way. All cartoon movies seem to have a cheap soppy moment where the friends make up and stuff, and it just gets repetitive. It might not be a bad movie, but when you live on movies of the same type, you see these similarites and stuff. TT Quote
Zane Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I just saw IA2. Hehe, it was good. A good joke, possibly the best, was when everyone was travelling away, and a pair of dungbeetles were carrying some dung away, and one of them asks 'Do we really need to bring all this crap? There'll probably be more crap where we're going.' Hehe...much better than the first, though still kept the annoying soppy moments... ~Tilius~ Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 I was quite suprised at how good the second one was (I was preparing myself for a typical sequel), It made me laugh, Sid was great and Diego kept his sarcastic character without milking it. The only thing I didn't like though was the love story, I always cringe at how corny these types of film portrays love *shakes head* O and the rat thing sang an R Kelly song (my fav. singer) :D Quote
Christian Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I just saw it today with my younger brother. Both my brother and I thought that the movie was very good. *Spoiler* Especially the ending with the squirrel going to heaven was funny *End of Spoiler* Quote
Zane Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 The vultures singing 'Food glorius food' was funny too. Yeah, the love thing was corney, too ahead-of-its-time and relatively unneccerssary.... ~Tilius~ Quote
JoeMI6 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 This was pretty damn good. I really liked it. Kind of similar to the original, i just hate how they use the cliches, even though it is primarily a kid's film. The Possum "I believe i can fly" bit was so crap. But a great film if you look past all that. And i loved how they cut between Scrat's journey, that kept the film moving. Overall: 7.5/10 Quote
Aredhel Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I saw it about one week ago. I loved it, though the beginning was a little too long. Scrat was reeaaally cuute and I loved that he had a bigger role than in the last movie. Quote
conductorjoe Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I saw it about two weeks ago. Real funny. Except the whole romance thing was disturbing...Why do they always have to have that in kid-aimed movies? 8-| I got a kick out of the little weasel guys. I cracked up whenever they said anything X-D Quote
Kahgarak Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I have not seen the film, but my friends told me about *SPOILERS* The Scrat going to nut-heaven.The part with him just about to touch a huge nut,and then being reanimated. *SPOILERS END* Quote
