sok117 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 No disrespect but your entry is really less then satisfactory, I'm no Lego expert, or that great of a builder myself, but really it just looks like a base with a load of minifigures positioned in cool fighting poses, there are some nice shrubs, but there is nothing that really makes it stand out, If you have the time, I would consider revisiting this and perhaps choosing a different scene, because I know Kashyyk is quite barren if your doing a swamp, though it may be realistic to the scene your trying to do, It's not very standout-ish. I hope this could be of some help Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 I know. It's just that i didn't know what to do w/o official TLG vehicles (which I'm not very good at either) and wanted to focus more on my small and large entries. Consider this the worst, but don't worry, the small and large ones will be formidable. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 It's a nice entry 'ThatGuyWithTheBricks', though I have to agree with sok117 that it's not that much of a build - just a baseplate loaded with fighting clones and droids and a bunch of rocks/plants on the side. Looking forward to your 'formidable' small and large scale entries. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Agreed in that it isn't much of a build, really... mainly just minifigs standing around. After hearing so much about your formidable small and large entries (for which only the best of the other entries will be competition, no less), I'm looking forward to seeing them. Quote
Big Cam Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 The pictures are a bit blurry, but I like the first picture, it really grabs the whole scene in one shot. Quote
KimT Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 A shame that "suggestions are futile". This looks mostly like a baseplate with some figs thrown at it. I think you ought to redo your entry and add a lot of bricks and plates. Build an entry and if you do so, then loose at least half the figs. Too many randomly inserted figs, make a diorama messy and hard to look at. It's your entry though - and you're free to do as you wish with it. I am merely making a suggestion. Quote
BrickClick Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 (edited) I agree with KimT. Maybe add some little bumps in the ground and lose at least half the minifigs, Right now it just looks just like your showing off you phase II clones and droids. Another idea would be to build a small beach like there was in the movie with some walkers and wookies. But the above are only suggestions. Edited June 19, 2010 by BrickClick Quote

Well, that depends, would I have to use a solid 48x48 baseplate for a large entry, or would I need any baseplates at all? Quote
KimT Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Well, that depends, would I have to use a solid 48x48 baseplate for a large entry, or would I need any baseplates at all? No, the 48x48 studs is just the measurement. A lot of members haven't used regular baseplates in their entries - so of course you can build a base from either baseplates, plates or bricks even. Quote

KimT Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Do I even have to have a baseplate at all? Your entry has to be on a base of either 16x16, 32x32 or 48x48 studs. How you build/design that base is up to you. Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Ok, I added a WIP pic! Hope you like! Quote
Legoman Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Ok, I added a WIP pic! Hope you like! Ah, Much better Keep it up Quote
BrickClick Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Ah, Much better Keep it up Agreed! This is sooooo much better than the original entry! Good luck! Quote
The Legonater Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Huh? The title is misleading now- It's just clones, who don't seem to be doing much. Perhaps it requires more improvment. Quote

gratefulnat Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) This looks a lot better than the first. You're on the right track here... EDIT: Removal of non-LEGO related comments. Apologies. Edited June 21, 2010 by gratefulnat Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 This looks a lot better than the first. You're on the right track here... off topic: please, don't understand me wrong, but - After loads(!!!) of hot air, remember: 'If you open your mouth real wide (again and again), someone's going to put their foot in it.' (like me) Or in other words, goodbye votes you might have gotten for your work, but won't get because of attitude. So stick to your work, and less mouthing off. It'll pay off in the end. 'You have much to learn, young padawan.' Mods & TGWTB - apologies for stepping over bounderies. TGWTB - go for it with bricks and not hot air - you have the potential. (I'm not even taking part because I'm a real helpless dork when it comes to MOC's) What are you talking about? Some one accused me of something and I was defending myself. I have a right to that, I wasn't even acting angry at all. Or is this about the cavegod shuttle thread? Anyways, I have no idea what you're talking about and am frankly confused. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 What do you mean? It's just before the battle now, the clones are preparing. ...Oh. Still, it's not the battle for Kashyyyk. Perhaps if one of the mods were to change the title? Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 ...Oh. Still, it's not the battle for Kashyyyk. Perhaps if one of the mods were to change the title? Jeez, la off me man. I'm not even done, this is a WIP pic. >.< Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 That's a better entry than your previous one. Though you could still improve it (it's still a WIP as you siad), hope your entry does well in the contest, 'coz there's lots of good ones out there. Best of luck! Quote
The Legonater Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Jeez, la off me man. I'm not even done, this is a WIP pic. >.< I'm a tough critic, just ask ACPin . Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 Yay for late entries! (not really) Deep in the forests of Kashyyyk, the 683rd legion prepares for battle. There are clones in the treehouses, too. Barriss Offee and some commanders discuss their plan of defense. The droids arrive! Although they have already lost many men, the tides are starting to turn now that Barriss has started to attack. I'm done! I really enjoyed this contest and now I am proud of all of my entries. Now I don't even care if I win, the point is that I think I got a LOT better at MOCing now. C&C welcome. Enjoy! (Note to KimT: Please just lock the other topic. I pretty much started all over again, and i wanted a fresh, new topic without all the clutter of currently-unrelated comments) Quote
KimT Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Which is where you went wrong. The rules are quite clear on this matter. All entries are considered WIPs until the deadline. Just update the first post of the first entry topic you've made in this category. And then post, saying that you've updated the entry. It's just that simple. This is locked and moved out of here - not to clutter this subforum - in 24 hours or so. Quote
