JimBee Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I know this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there has been any consideration on allowing non staff/ fellow members to start 3+ person PM conversations. It would would be infinitely helpful in some cases (particularly forum games), and could be granted to established members only, say, Count and up or granted on request (if of course that member is considered to be responsible). I hate to be annoying about this, but I really do believe it is essential, and much more important than being able to start polls (Knights and up). I'm not demanding the ability, but I just wanted to suggest the idea again and see if the mods were willing to consider/ discuss it. Thank you for your time.
Siegfried Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I know this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there has been any consideration on allowing non staff/ fellow members to start 3+ person PM conversations. Noted. Do realise that there is zero chance of us allowing all members to access it; it's too easily abused as a way of bypassing site posting rules, and it runs the risk of having secret sub-forums. Thus at best it would be as you said; a certain rank or above. I'll get back to you.
Brickdoctor Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Via the Skin select at the bottom of each page. Select the "Lo-Fi" one. Thanks!
Siegfried Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I know this has been asked before, but I was wondering if there has been any consideration on allowing non staff/ fellow members to start 3+ person PM conversations. Now there has, and the answer is yes! Grand Dukes/Dorks+ 4 Dukes 3 Counts 2 Knights 1 The funny thing is we were planning on allowing the higher ranks this power but we never got around to discussing it. Enjoy!

So now Knights can have 2-person conversations, Counts 3-person conversations, Dukes 4-person, and higher 5+ person conversations? Just clarifying, since I know when you say Knights 1 you don't mean theh can only have PM conversations with themselves.

I think Sieggy means as a Knight you can invite one more person to a conversation, as a Count two, etc. So, a Knight in total could have conversations with 3 people, a Count with 4 etc. Otherwise, it would not be necessary to mention Knights separately.

Even better. So how would one go about inviting these extra people? EDIT: Figured it out. Thanks again. Edited October 15, 2010 by Brickdoctor
The Yellow Brick Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I do like the new Studs but I do find it hard to remember that the gold stud is a poll But I'm sure I'll get the hang of remembering which is which over time.

This makes life so much easier. And good idea limiting the number of people in a conversation, that's a good way to ensure no secret forums are created.

First Archduke: 100 bucks on LightingTiger.
Brickdoctor Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 When someone becomes an Archduke they would have a 5 person conversation! First Archduke: 100 bucks on LightingTiger. It says 4+. So a Grand Duke could have a 17238439284239874298742398749847329 man conversation, provided all those members agree to join.

No, I'm a GD and I can only have a total of four people in my conversations. That means that I can invite two people to any given conversation between me and another person.

No, it says "Grand Dukes/Dorks+ 4". In other words that rank and greater can invite 4 extra people to a conversation.
Shadows Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Don't feel too bad, we're all limited. I can only invite an additional 498 people to an existing conversation.
Hinckley Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 All feedback on the topic icons has been taken into consideration and the icons have been altered. Please note they contain the technic brick that was so liked in the last version and use official LEGO colors: Blue, Sand Blue, Dark Red, Sand Red, Dark Purple and Sand Purple. I hope you guys like these better. Hit refresh to reload the images.

Fugazi Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Excellent job again, although I liked the round plates better! I suppose it's impossible to keep everyone happy! Just a little suggestion if you would like to consider changing the last two logos to Lego-inspired ones (although they are nice as they are now): for locked topics for moved topics, perhaps with an arrow added on.
Siegfried Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Just a little suggestion if you would like to consider changing the last two logos to Lego-inspired ones (although they are nice as they are now): We actually did consider a locked print, but it didn't seem to fit in due to the lack of crispness compared to the studs.
Rick Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Nice work Hinckley. The 'square' bricks fit the 2 x 2 brick forum icons (on the main index page) better than the round plates. Personally I wasn't a fan of the Technic hole to show that you posted in a topic. As I said before, I really liked how the stacking of plates made intuitive sense. I would have chosen one or two stacked 1 x 1 plates. But as been said, you can't keep everyone happy. Just a little more nitpicking: The orientation of the Technic brick isn't quite the same as the orientation of the System brick.

I really liked that. But, too many people didn't get it. I figured it best to stick with what people were used to. In the long run, it's design by committee which means it's not as creative as it could be.
prateek Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I like the new design of the topic icons, but it's kinda hard to see if you've posted in it or not
