Ive had a look at the new icons for topics in the Star Wars forum and while its good to have Lego in a Lego forum, its difficult to see if a topic is locked or whatever the dots mean. I prefer the old heads. Maybe you should get Joey Lock to whip up some cool SW heads

The dots (=technic bricks) mean you've posted in that thread. It's a nice and handy feature!

Sweet! But what to the different blues mean?

Grey. The other grey one won't appear often, but the white arrow will make it obvious.

or whatever the dots mean.

As Boney said, it's a quick and easy way to tell if you've participated in a particular topic. It's a really nice feature and would be harder to implement with heads.

I prefer the old heads.

Only 3 of the old forums had them, SW, History and SciFi. The rest had the default boring set. Plus, they didn't mean anything obvious. Anakin, Qui-Gon, Lando? How do those relate to new, hot, poll, etc? They don't. At some point, we may aim for a more theme oriented solution, but for now it's good standard LEGO and easy to read, and that's nice when you're adjusting to a new look.

Sweet! But what to the different blues mean?

From the topic list, scroll down to "Forum Legend" (blue is new replies, dark blue is no new replies). The colour system is actually taken from the official IPB icons, just adapted to LEGO (in the official LEGO colours, no less)

Dear Admins,

the upgrade of the forum has been, from my viewpoint, a great success.

I have been using it for a couple of days, trying some things, and I really enjoyed and liked it a lot.

Congratulations on the upgrade, and thank you for all the effort you have put into this! From a happy user.

Kind regards,

Teddy

For today it already looks a lot better than two days ago.

Thank you so much for all your ongoing work!

Yup, the new bigger arrow markers indicating new posts are a great improvement, much easier to spot!

Oh! I was thinking of asking this. That's an awesome feature, this will help me a lot with respects to blogging.

Very smart way to show we have posted in the topic! Who'd have thought of that, eh? :sweet:

Looking at how long my PMs can be, there are going to be very large 'conversations'!

I encountered a couple of problems while trying to post my review of the Imperial Star Destroyer.

In the reviewers academy, I had split up the review into two parts. When I went to post the review in the public forums, I had no trouble posting the first half. However, when I went to add a second post to include part 2 of the review, it stuck that second part at the bottom of my first post. I of course wanted two separate posts for the review to be spread over because I knew there were too many pics for a single post. After multiple attempts (even after logging out and back into EB) I still could not create a separate post for my second half of the review.

Someone eventually posted in my topic so I made another attempt to post again, this time I got the message "Sorry, you have too many pictures" or something along those lines. Last time I had checked, we can have around 60 pictures in a single post, and there is of course a total size limit to the post as well. There were only 40 pictures in the post, so I'm not sure why I kept getting that error. I gave up and did a simple post in my topic explaining that I was having technical difficulties trying to post my part 2. That message posted fine. As an experiment, I then went back and pasted in the second part of my review on the post that I had just done. This time it posted fine, no error messages about there being too many pics. Bizarre.

Everything has worked itself out now and I have posted the review (though there is a somewhat unwanted post between my two halves) but I just wanted to pass along what had happened and see if anyone knows why I might have been having those problems.

Thanks

Ah, right-o, I figured it was probably some sort of anti spam/double post feature. Still a bit annoying for trying to get back to back posts such as in a review (without having to later move posts around).

I'll keep that in mind for next time though. Thanks.

Very nice! This is gonna be useful!

If you make two posts in less than 20 minutes, the board will merge them.

Z06, it was like that before the upgrade. You may want to coordinate with a mod to have the thread locked for those 20 minutes so no one else posts.

I love these changes! It makes checking on forums that you're into easier, and you can finally tell of someone's online without having to go to their page!

I like the new "Online" and "Offline" Lego symbols. The "Offline" one only seems to work on PMs and not on the boards but the "Online" works fine. Also when ever I leave EB it automatically logs me out even though I have "Remember Me" on. It get quite annoying having to log in each time I get on. :sceptic: I'm not clearing my cache or anything of the sort.

Best regards,

I like the new poll icon/brick. The bars nicely set it apart as a poll from the other topics.

In general, I really like the new icons: simple, Lego, and effective.

While the bar to seperate the pinned topics may help. I actually got used to not having it there and I kinda prefer it not being there. Its cool but Im not that worried about what happens to it cause I will get used to anything really.

I preferred it not being there too, but the admins discussed the issue and it was decided to do it if we can implement it without having to edit every skin. I looked into it about an hour ago and I found an easy and neat way to do it.

It's staying... for the moment.

I really like the board upgrade, quite neat and for a lack of a better word; shiny. That said, I miss the days when if I accidentally clicked onto a new page, I could just go back one page and my post would still be there. today i was writing the longest post I've ever done on a friend's fig topic, and I accidentally clicked on the "main page" button instead of a new tab, and when I went back an hour's worth of writing was gone :cry_sad:

Apart from that though, I really love how updated it is, especially the little tags by the threads detailing some of the content.

Don't blame us; blame your browser; I use Opera and I do that all the time!

If you log out and try to get a new post from email notification it takes you to the first page of the thread.

 New board update better not say what im thinking, but if it aint broke dont fix it, and the old board wasnt broke.
