Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 15, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 15, 2010 Our Mister Phes has designed this brand new skin for the pirates forum. What do you think of the new look? Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 It's certainly different but I guess we'll get used to it, I love the 2x2 brick in the corner! Quote
Big Cam Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 It is so smooth and subtle, kind of like the changes in the RA. I like it alot, everything blends nicely and matches. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 15, 2010 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 15, 2010 It's certainly different but I guess we'll get used to it, I love the 2x2 brick in the corner! Yeah, we all have to get used to this entire new board. But like I said in other places, the old one was end of life and support for it was ending in 15 days. So here we are... Quote
Fugazi Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 As I just mentioned in the general forum, I absolutely love what you did with the Pirate forum look, it's refreshing, clean, classy... Good job! I'll be visiting more often than I did in the past! By the way, can someone clear up for me the relationship between EB and Classic-Pirates.com, now the forum almost looks like it's not part of EB anymore. Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I think it looks really sharp! It is hard to focus on the skin while everything still seems a little off kilter but I like it a lot. I will miss the old one. We had some good times in that skin and saw and did many things together. Farewell old pirate skin! Quote
Siegfried Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 By the way, can someone clear up for me the relationship between EB and Classic-Pirates.com, now the forum almost looks like it's not part of EB anymore. Really? I think it's clearer now that the brick is back. But for what it's worth, the EB Pirate forum is themed to match Classic-Pirates. Classic-Pirates staff use our forum to organise, and help out to some degree as well. But it still is the EB Pirate forum. Quote
Big Cam Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Exactly, and I can only assume its the same relationship with classictown.net, and the town forum. A blog that works closely with a forum. Quote
General Armendariz Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 The new layout is great, now it matches with the CP website! I also like the little links in the top left hand corner. Quote
Lorentzen Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 It looks so smooth and simple. Just as things should look these days. Very modern, but still piratey. I love it Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I really like this, nice work guys. I'm looking forward to working in a "new building". Quote
KimT Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I like it It looks much better than the old one. Hopefully I am not stepping on someone's toes here Nicely done Quote
Captain Becker Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 It looks nice, but the old one was a bit easier to read at me but i`ll ge tused to this in time Nicely done, i was wondering yestarday at why i cant enter the forums but now i know. [pid]Captain Becker[/pid] Quote
General Redwater Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I really like it! It has an old colonial paper feel to it. Great job in making this! - General Redwater Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Very clean, clear, easy to read , but I too will miss the old skin ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Legorski Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I love it, though it will take me a while to get used to it. Different, in a great way, the simple smooth look is great, I just love it, Legorski, Quote
Aalak Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I like it. Looks great. I like the whole board update in general! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 17, 2010 Governor Posted June 17, 2010 By the way, can someone clear up for me the relationship between EB and Classic-Pirates.com, now the forum almost looks like it's not part of EB anymore. The LEGO Pirates Forum is a joint venture between Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.com. Classic-Pirates.com emerged from the LEGO Pirates Forum to provide an information resource solely focused upon LEGO Pirates. The original intention was to migrate the forum to Classic-Pirates.com at some point in the future, however this hasn't been deemed viable. Nonetheless, Classic-Pirates.com has become a prosperous online community in its own right and the blog (not including forum) receives between 16,000 to 20,000 unique visitors per month. The relationship between Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.com is synergistic. Classic-Pirates.com drives additional traffic to the LEGO Pirates Forum on Eurobricks, while Eurobrick's shares it's extremely large userbase with Classic-Pirates.com. As this appears to be the most affluent LEGO Pirates Forum there seems little point modifying the arrangement. "If ain't broke, don't fix it!" The previous Pirate Forum skin was also inconsistent with the other Eurobricks skins, so little has changed in that respect. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 It all looks really smooth, great! The only thing I'm missing is the shadow under the buttons, so they are easyer to see, but it could be just me. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 As first my compliments for those who made this possible. It is an astonishing update! It looks great! I like the fishies in the background are still there. =] Great job all! Quote
TheCrimsonTrooper Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I personally like it, it looks clean and simple and great. Quote

True, I always felt that the Pirates Forum was slightly apart from the rest of EB, visually. I think the Classic-Pirates.com banner is what grabbed my attention most after this latest upgrade. Being a fairly new member of EB, I wasn't much aware of the Classic-Pirates.com background story. I'm glad though that in the end the Pirates Forum remained within EB, as I enjoy having easy access to the whole spectrum of LEGO interests within the same community. I'm still looking for the Duplo forum though! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 23, 2010 Governor Posted June 23, 2010 Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to comment on the new skin. I found this project quite challenging, obtaining cross-browser compatibility was very difficult and I spent many late nights getting it to work adequately in Ineternet Explorer 7 and 8. But unfortunately I ran out of time and energy to achieve Internet Explorer 6 compability. So hopefully not too many are inconvenienced by this. Thank you for the explanation, Mister Phes. You're welcome sir! Quote
