Hinckley Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 We are taking our usual short break between games, please be patient. The next game will start when Quarry is ready. February?
Fugazi Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 February? Hope not -- I'd have to take up smoking!
Peanuts Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 February? Don't be so pessimistical. It's just 10 months to wait!
Eskallon Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I do hope that Quarry is ready. I can't wait to even find out about what it will be based on. On another note, will another game of Mafia School be running soon or even parallel to the next game.
Alex the Great Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Oooh Forest Mafia is over, and I actually have time to play a mafia game now. Can't wait to see what it is!
Masked Builder Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 A new Mafia School game? Maybe... I would like one if that's possible!
RileyC Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Cant wait to get back in the game! Hope I get to kick some serious scum megablocks.
Brickdoctor Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 A new Mafia School game? Maybe... Yeah, we graduates want our turn making fun of the newbies.
Hinckley Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 A sign-up thread for the next Mafia School will go up next week.
Masked Builder Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 A sign-up thread for the next Mafia School will go up next week. Awesome! I have next week off so that works out quite well!
CMP Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Awesome! I have next week off so that works out quite well! ...So it should start the week after. Mafia games can be very long and time-consuming. Isn't that right, Zephyr?
def Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The dragon has been doing a great job of having one game quickly follow the other, more than I've seen elsewhere on other sites. There have been three full games this year already, that's pretty good.
Big Cam Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 A sign-up thread for the next Mafia School will go up next week. I'm there good sir.
Tamamono Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I'm there good sir. Wait, haven't you already been in several mafias?
Ro87n Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 A sign-up thread for the next Mafia School will go up next week. Will this be my very first chance to get involved into any Mafia Game? Is it wise for me to join since I don't know how to play this (although I'm good at taking and playing a role, but that will be it I guess). I would just give it a try. ~ Ro87n

I would just give it a try. ~ Ro87n Well, you ought know the essentials, I think. If you don't know the game's basics or what the game is about, you really shouldn't play. But if you know how the game works and just don't know all the different roles and variant, you are able to play a mafia school game. I would advice you, if you really want to learn the theoretics of mafia games, there's a flask introduction at the newbie guide on mafiawiki which I found pretty useful.

I would just give it a try. ~ Ro87n Definitely, the whole point to our Mafia School programme is to teach new players who have never played Mafia before how to do so. You'll learn all the basics of how to play as you go, so if you're interested, sign up for sure.
Ro87n Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I'm sure to watch every now and then. Hope to sign up asap.

But if you know how the game works and just don't know all the different roles and variant, you are able to play a mafia school game. Don't scare away the new players, Peanuts! Mafia School games do not have prerequisites from their participants other than that they haven't played a Mafia game here in EB before (although Hinck will apparently take in people who've only played once as well), and that they have the time and will to learn. So you don't have to know anything about the game in order to participate, but of course it helps if you know what to expect. So glancing through the previous games will give you an idea of the structure of Mafia games. You can only learn the fine nuances by playing.

True. The idea is to have two levels of Mafia School. Sandy's game was a level one with all new players. I'll do a level two with half noobs and half newer players who have only played one or two games, especially those who have really sucked at it. I plan to laugh as they all die. They aren't officially called level one and level two so don't go quoting me on that. Sign-ups will go up tomorrow.

Will it be that participating in a level 2 game is compulsory or is just a second chance just for those who think they need more practice?

Peanuts Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Don't scare away the new players, Peanuts! Oops. I just wanted to make sure mafia games keep a certain elitistic level

I really need some more practice at Mafia games.
