Shadows Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Slightly more structured?! EBRPG was a "do whatever you like" sort of game, while Heroica RPG at least has a set of rules to go with. EBRP, not EBRPG. The difference is the lack of G. EBRP was simply that, roleplay on EB. And it had Aluvar, so your argument is invalid.
LandShark Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Damn, I can't believe I missed the Mafia School sigh-ups. I had no idea how the Mafia games worked, but I've learned a lot just by reading it. Are Mafia Schools a regular thing, or will it be a long time before the next one? I need to pay more attention to this sub-forum.

I need to pay more attention to this sub-forum. The first two games were right after one another, but then there was a four and a half month before the most recent one, so no, there is no set time in between each game. Dragonator, is there a possibility of a 'Future Mafia School Games' category being put into the Mafia Index's second post? Just to help people like Landshark plan for their first game?
Dragonator Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Dragonator, is there a possibility of a 'Future Mafia School Games' category being put into the Mafia Index's second post? Just to help people like Landshark plan for their first game? Normally there would be, but this game was prepared fairly quickly so there wasn't enough time. Thank you for your concern though.

Tachyon Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'll look out for it. How do you join Mafia games or Mafia school ??????
Rick Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 How do you join Mafia games or Mafia school ?????? You just watch this forum for a sign-up thread to appear. They will typically be up for a few days only. so check back regularly. Also, because you haven't played before, you are required to participate in and pass a Mafia School game before you can join a regular game.
badboytje88 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I'm planning on hosting one shortly after this one... That reminds me, I need to get MOC'ing! And then after you're finished I'd like to do another one.
Masked Builder Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 And then after you're finished I'd like to do another one. Then there's me.
def Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Then there's me. What were you planning to host? Mafia School or a regular mafia game? I'm looking to host a school game myself, just for the stripped down mechanics and a fresh batch of players.

I want to see what some experienced players can do.
Darth Nihilus Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I was thinking of starting a regular Mafia game, or Mafia School if there are enough newbies. I just wanted to know if you had to be a certain rank to start a Mafia game. Just a preview of what I'm thinking: SW Mafia. Epicness in its purest form.

You have to PM Draggy and get permission from him to host.

Well the Mafia Index provides some helpful information in answering your question: If you are interested in hosting a Mafia game, then you will need to contact the Games Moderator (Dragonator) privately. Hosting a Mafia game is a big responsibility, and permission to host will not be granted lightly. If you want to seriously be considered as a future game host, you need to have displayed your competence at Mafia game playing in several games, have a clear understanding of the rules and the role a host plays in the game, and to have demonstrated your ability to show deep thinking and imagination in crafting a fun and exciting game to play. You then need to provide a game summary to the Games Moderator, outlining your idea in such a way that it does not give away any crucial plot details or prevents anyone who reads it from playing the game. You will be required to invest a lot of time and effort into creating character roles and building scenery and sets for the game. Lastly, the game will need to be produced in an aesthetically pleasing and professional manner. It must be carefully planned and well executed to make the game enjoyable for the players. As you can see, you still need to play a few more games before you can present your case to Dragonator. And what is more, you still need your passing grade from the Mafia School, so try not to be too eager too soon!

And I think the Galactic Paranoia Mafia was technically a SW Mafia.
Professor Flitwick Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 And I think the Galactic Paranoia Mafia was technically a SW Mafia. And the Bartiones games were town Mafia games. Didn't stop Prohibition or Eurodina from existing. And besides, in a universe as vast as Star Wars', there is plenty of room for original settings.

def Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Any updates on this, now that the other school is over? give it another two weeks or so. My collection was split in half when I moved in August and I'm just getting the rest this weekend so, the answer is : soon!
LandShark Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 give it another two weeks or so. My collection was split in half when I moved in August and I'm just getting the rest this weekend so, the answer is : soon! Ah, thanks. I'll look out for it.
def Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Ah, thanks. I'll look out for it. It's up! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62175 I expect it to get buried in Heroica pretty quickly, so I'm linking to it here
XimenaPaulina Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I expect it to get buried in Heroica pretty quickly, so I'm linking to it here Now that you mentioned it, I'll throw out a suggestion in the discussion table: How about Heroica get its own subforum here? It has become larger than anticipated, and I would assume it will expand more as more quests are conducted by new quest masters in the near future. As it is right now, it has already taken over the territory once lorded over by the Mafia games, so why not give it its own space right (Heroica Kingdom)? If it keeps its pace, there might come a time where the current mafia game threads will get buried deep into Page 2! Not a far-fetched possibility isn't it? Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Heroica, I'm even happy to see that it has been a huge success in giving another form of active participation and enjoyment for the members, I'm just suggesting this with the intention of possibly organizing the forum in the foreseeable future which is beneficial to both the mafiosos and the questors. Just something to think about.
