Bob Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I'd host something, but I'm going back to college very shortly, so there aren't any Bob Games in the near foreseeable future.
fhomess Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I actually still have the sets built from the Mafia game I hosted for another site and could put together a game with it. Only caveat is that I'll be off camping in the woods over Labor Day weekend, so it wouldn't make sense for me to start it before then.
Palathadric Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I'm trying to gathers players from many different sites to play together in a game of mafia reserved only for the best of the best players. There are already confirmed players from 10 different sites. And I was curious to know if you could help me find out who the consensus top players are on this site? If there was one person who should really represent this site in this game, who would that be? Jesus! PsyKater may be referring to Hinckley. I could give you a list of some of my preferred players, but many are staff, so they may not have time in the end anyway.
PsyKater Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Does that mean you have no suggestions? :P Actually it is a suggestion, but a bit cryptic as I wanted to give him a chance to step out himself. As Pala pointed out, I reffered to Hinckley who may or may not be our best player but he is definitely the most iconic player for EB Mafia (at least for me).
Thingyman Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Are people in agreement that Hinckly would be a good choice for this forum? (sorry if this is putting you guys on the spot, I don't know how else to go about this :/)
Professor Flitwick Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Are people in agreement that Hinckly would be a good choice for this forum? (sorry if this is putting you guys on the spot, I don't know how else to go about this :/) He's certainly one of the best, perhaps jointly with def. Two very good players, two different play styles. It'll take some serious debate to see which is the best, in my opinion.
Thingyman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Well, maybe it can decided like this: What are their nationalities? I'm asking because the times for the game are best suited for Americans. Edited August 22, 2013 by Thingyman
TrumpetKing Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Hinckley has been rather busy, lately, so I'm not sure if he'll be your best bet. There's also Shadows, who's a pretty strong player. Always trust Shadows.
PsyKater Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Yes, Hinckley is rarely seen nowadays. Shadows and def are a very good choice as well. I think def could work with U.S.-times as well, but it's of course up to them. I'd suggest that you pm them, but that's not possible for new users (<10 posts). So you only have to hope that they look in here and say if they have interest.
def Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I really appreciate being discussed as a good player, but I think that rep is overstated. I have done well when I had a number of town actions at my disposal, but am not a great vanilla player, nor great scum. And I spend too much time thinking of how to break games.... There are others who are more consistent, and have better scumdar <cough.. Rick, Shadows...> Anyway, Thingyman, I'll warn you, EB Mafia is not traditional mafia. It is very very slowed down, usually a 72 hour day and a 24 hour night, with a lot of roleplaying. I have played lots of 12/12 games, but stepping in that first time was a shock after playing here. It's very a different experience. Personally, I can't get fully involved with one of those realtime paced games right now, even if I had an American schedule. It's just too much attention. My last regular games ended up being 24/24, and even that was a lot of my attention-span. Work, family, hobbies, friends, they all get in the way of mafia!
Sandy Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 A new bloodbath-type of game, Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Downfall of Heroes has just opened it's sign-ups at the Heroica RPG subforum! The game is part of the celebrations for the second anniversary of HRPG, but it is open to all EB members, no matter if they have played in the game otherwise or not. So head into the subforum to check it out and join for some roleplaying mayhem!
Sandy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The sign-ups to Cruel Angel's Thesis end within an hour. If you want in, now is your last chance!
Hinckley Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Actually it is a suggestion, but a bit cryptic as I wanted to give him a chance to step out himself. As Pala pointed out, I reffered to Hinckley who may or may not be our best player but he is definitely the most iconic player for EB Mafia (at least for me). Thanks. Your check is in the mail. I am not able to participate in games for some time. If someone drops out of the current game, Chillax will definitely step in, but playing and hosting is definitely out for me for a while as I'm going back to school to get a second degree and working full time. And yes, it all came out of nowhere. I also just moved from California back to Chicago, so... well, that has nothing to do with not playing Mafia, just a tid-bit. Am I rambling? In short, I can't host right now. Sorry. Probably Summer, though. I'll take some the Summer off from classes.
fhomess Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I also just moved from California back to Chicago, so... Wow. Who knew that EB Mafia success could actually lead to employment with the real mob!
Hinckley Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Wow. Who knew that EB Mafia success could actually lead to employment with the real mob! No no. I grew up here. I only moved to California four years ago for the job with LEGOLAND. Besides that, I've lived in Chicago my whole life. I love it here. And not everyone here is a mobster. You're totally going to sleep with the fishes in Lake Michigan for saying so.
Chillax Darth Frodo Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 No no. I grew up here. I only moved to California four years ago for the job with LEGOLAND.
