tellblom Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Hi, To the moderator: I hope this is the forum to post this in, if not feel free to move or remove this post To the rest: I have created a AndroidApp that you can use when you are in the store and think you find a bargin. Enter the Set number into the App and it will check the price at LEGO Shop@Home (if the set is found there) and the three cheepest sets on Bricklink. The app is working great on the Swedish market (that is it gives the price in Swedish Kronor). I haven't been able to test it in another country yet but it shall use the IP to find out what country its running from to get the right price. The App is fount in Market and its name is GetPrice (or search for Lego) The App is FREE of charge! /Martin Quote
Holodoc Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Cool idea and really useful as well! Thank you so much for letting us know about it! It's just... ... I don't have an android cell phone. win mobile anyone? Quote
Siegfried Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 To the moderator: I hope this is the forum to post this in, if not feel free to move or remove this post It's cool. As it turns out I have a HTC Desire (called Roy) and I downloaded it, tested it, and I even wrote a comment! It's good; as you say it uses your IP to pick the price and that works. win mobile anyone? Personally I think Win mobile is a dead platform for the moment. Killing backwards compatibility to compete with Apple was an odd move. But I'm off topic. Quote
tellblom Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks for the help verifying the price according to IP. I just found an error when searching for a set at S@H with status "Not For Sale" that has been fixed. So check if there is a update on Market or else the App will crash if you search for a Not For Sale app (like 10184) /Martin P.S And thank you for the comment D.S Quote
zyrex Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Looks awesome, as soon as I get my Android in the mail this'll be one of the first apps I'll download ;) I thought I found a good deal once in the store, turned out I paid $31 more than S@H-price.. Quote
tellblom Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 zyrex: I did the same thing, thats one of the reasons i did this app :) /Martin Quote
Big Cam Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Awesome app! Works perfect on my moto Droid in the USA. Thank you, I added comment number 2 and rated it 5 stars. Quote
winbrant Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Awesome app! Works perfect on my moto Droid in the USA. Thank you, I added comment number 2 and rated it 5 stars. Thank you...it's nice to have a specific LEGO app for price-checking other than just the barcode reader. Installed on an HTC Magic in Canada. Maybe redundant but might be nice to get the set name as well in the results seeing as occasionally one might input the wrong number or those instances where LEGO had re-released a number. Quote

That would be awesome, you could pull the name from bricklink since so many sets aren't on shop at home. But seriously, Im thrilled with it the way it is. We don't want to overload the author. Thank you again. Quote
tellblom Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Hi, The App is a work in progress and all suggestions to make it better is welcome. I add the set name to my TODO list. Its not so hard just to add some code to the parser. Proberbly done during the weekend :) /Martin Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I saw this app yesterday and downloaded it, I havn't comment on it yet but just to say thanks for producing this! Quote
tellblom Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 An update. The interface has benn updated and the SET name is picked up from both S@H and Bricklink (so we don't compare different sets) Version 1.5 is out on Market now. /Martin Quote
tellblom Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 New version out on Market news in version 1.6.0: -Progressbar when downloading -Checks for new versions on market when starting up -Numeric keybord instead of the default when entering a set number -More error checking /Martin Quote
Marckeyh Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I've just installed this on my htc desire, looks like a very handy app. Thanks! Quote
Big Cam Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 New version out on Market news in version 1.6.0: -Progressbar when downloading -Checks for new versions on market when starting up -Numeric keybord instead of the default when entering a set number -More error checking /Martin This is the best update ever, so minimal, but so nice. If you are still for requests, how about the median new price. Sometimes the 3 lowest can be unusually low. Quote
tellblom Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 Thanks for that :) The median price is a nice idea but it has some limitations. How many items should be used to calculate the median price? To manu and the App will get really slow, and use A LOT (really a LOT) of data communication Can a search for median price be done at bricklink? I will try and se if I can came up with something /Martin Quote
zyrex Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I have another request, though. I'm in Norway, and use Tele2. Tele2 uses swedish IP-addresses when I surf over 3G, which in turn gives me swedish prices.. Any possibility to set a currency? So I can choose NOK and it'll always show me prices in NOK? Quote
tellblom Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Hi, The problem with that is that I can't seach Bricklink with a special currency as I can with Shop@Home. I will try to look in to that so I can do about that. Maybe I have to compile a special app for you. /Martin Quote
Ras 74 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 That is one awesome App tellblom! As soon as I get my hands on a iPhone 3gs I will sure download this. Quote

I could be wrong, an if I am, then please don't worry about it, I don't want This app slowing down, because right now its awesome. Quote

Again today, I was at a store, price looked alright, and I checked with the app - 349 SEK ^^ Well, 299 NOK seemed okai then. Would love it though if you could compile a special app, all Tele2 users in norway would :] Quote
tellblom Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 I have run in a crazy problem.... If I type this link; http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=10211&LangId=2057&ShipTo=NO on my PC I get the prices in NOK, but if I take the same link on my HTC Hero I get the price i SKR?!?!??! I can Compile a special app for you to try zyrex if there is som problem with my phone (maybe the systemsettings from telia or something. PM me your mail and I will mail you the app, /Martin Quote
zyrex Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) I tried PM'ing you, but got the message "The member can not use the messaging system"... Problably some rules on the board. But you can email me at mynick @ mynick dot org ... Edited July 17, 2010 by zyrex Quote
tellblom Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 Sorry to say I had a disagreement with my computer and I lost. This is why unfortunately to upgrade GetPrice 1.6.0 to the newer version you have to manually uninstall GetPrice 1.6.0 and then go to market and search for GetPrice and download it again. It will not be upgraded by Market automaticly. I'm sorry for this /Martin Quote
