Anyways I'm really liking both battlepacks however I do agree with JCC that the trench looks like crap. The minifigures are gold  but that trench

Er....What trench? There is no trench. There is, however, a white plate that the imperial officer (we don't really know it's Veers, do we?), as well as a 'rocket launcher' for a trooper.

Could it be the Agents armour piece?
Do I see wrong or could it be the armor from the Agents theme they use for him?

Klaus-Dieter

As I already have stated, it would look good and accurate, maybe even printed with rank symbols!

I don't mind the Battlepack parts. I've only made each BP vehicle once, just to see how crap they were before just cannibalizing them for parts. The Imp 'trench' is pretty dinky, but the Rebel 'Laser Cutter' is ugly as sin too. Hell, I'd still pay current BP prices for minifigs without the token vehicle they throw in. It's just flavouring that gives a bit of playability imo.

Okay, just to make things clear here: The new imperial shuttle, is it going to be based on Clone Wars and not the original trilogy? :( In that case, I'm buying one of the older sets.

What new Imperial Shuttle?

We're not getting an Imperial Shuttle, we're getting Palpatine's Shuttle which is more than a little different from the Imperial Shuttle.

Are the BPs supposed to be canon?

The only canon vehicles i saw for BPs were the BARC speeder and STAP.

So why can't these be?

Funny you should mention that. The vehicles are both canon this time. The snowspeeder was never in the movie, but it was seen, and the Rebel vehicle is the Laser Ice Cutter:

Why would you call it a snowspeeder? You know it's not a snowspeeder. It's just a white 74-Z.

Most people here know the T-47 airspeeder as the snowspeeder.

What new Imperial Shuttle?

We're not getting an Imperial Shuttle, we're getting Palpatine's Shuttle which is more than a little different from the Imperial Shuttle.

Technically, we did see it after the Empire had been formed, so it could be argued that it is an Imperial shuttle.

It was most probably created during the time of the Republic, though.

It's definitely not Clone Wars, however.

@ Klaus-Dieter: When I think about it, there are some things with the Wampa Cave not said before.

As I recall, no Taun-Taun, but a feature so that you can hang Luke in the ceiling of the cave.

The cave is as impressive as the Hoth-door (7666) to us nerds, not so much...

Oh, the Wampa looks great!!

That sound exciting. Thanks, Ras. (That probably sounded sad or sarcastic. I'm not sure which I meant.)

I can't wait to see the wampa, though.

Thanks for that info Ras! Nice to hear that the question about a TaunTaun being included has been cleared up.:sweet:

Im glad you say there is a feature that you can hang Luke from, it would have been a waste of creating this set if they hadn't done that.

Wow sounds like it is quite huge!

Thats good to hear the wampa looks good. You sure you don't want to tell us about it?:sweet:

Thanks

edit: 900 post!

I think when he said the cave was like the Hoth Base door, he meant it was rather under scaled and under detailed....

The new Battle Packs look pretty nice. I like how the AT-AT Driver has a more detailed helmet, and the TIE Pilot in the Defender does as well, which is great. Looks to me like the Pilot in the Rebel Battle Pack has goggles and a mic attached to them, as opposed to a full strap. The ARC is probably my favorite of the line, but am rather disappointed that we got another Kit Fisto, as I have the first ans see now remarkable differences. The new Pilots look sweet though, and the droid is pretty cool as well. (If it were only yellow or purple......) The new Tri-Fighter is a must, and the marked Rocket Droid Commander is a nice addition. I'm slightly disappointed that the Freeco doesn't have a new CAT, but the Talz and Anakin in Parka are pretty cool.

I look forward to seeing all of the things Ras and KimT have been saying.

I know there's no pic of this up on the web yet, but it would've been nice tho

the set is probably going to be a $20 set, seeing that it only has Luke and the Wampa (maybe Ben Kenobi's force ghost?)

but still, it's not confirmed yet.

Let's not hope the set looks like this:

Click me!!

it really would be a disappointment :hmpf_bad:

i mean, this small ?? even the BPs are bigger.

It could still be Clone Wars, it just hasn't appeared yet in the series.

From Wookieepedia

Theta-class shuttles were observed ten years after the end of the New Sith Wars and were at that time considered new. The class would go on to see service in the centuries leading up to the establishment of the Galactic Empire....

Another was used by the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine as a personal transport when attending to off-world matters during the Wars

It would also mean that the CW Palpatine could be "re-used" in this set.

I think we'll just have to wait and see.

with the 2010 sets does anybody know if we'll get some more magnet sets? Are the magnet sets new as of 2009? As you guys are hinting the 2010 slave 1 will be another boba edition I sure wouldn't mind seeing a magnet set containing Jango fett!!!

That is the actual set!! Where did you found that pic?

Even though you have seen it, that couldn't be it. First, Luke is yellow. Second the Wampa is just a yeti. (And has no horns.) Third, has LEGO ever sold a set where a skeleton minifig wasn't assembled? (And it's the old skeleton too.)

Stay cool people, I am sure more pics are coming our way shortly.

So, everyone is going to buy 65 of them, I don't think so. Remember most kids may buy 2 or 3 packs of each maybe not that many. Beside who said you have 65 Veers, his head could be used as a rebel or an evil leader in a castle, agents, city or what ever scene - it's Lego you do whatever you like. My son has a Mr. Crabbs Clone Trooper to state my point.

Veers and Wedge are charactors yes, but not main ones they appear only briefly at times and Veers for a few minutes in ESB. Like I said we'll just have to wait until we get even clearer pictures when they are posted.

You're not getting it.

The point is they are NAMED characters, with specific identities. LEGO doesn't sell licensed sets with the idea you will use the pieces for MOC's, if they did they would sell you a bucket of sweet parts that we commonly find in expensive licensed sets.

LEGO specifically markets these battle packs as multiple purchases. Even if you only bought two, then you'd have 2 Wedges, now would that make sense?

Of course not.

Having 3 nameless hoth rebels makes sense, because there can logically be more than one of them, since armies usually have many soldiers who look the same and you usually don't know the names of each and every one.

It will not happen.

Could it be that kids don't care wether or not it's Veers in that BP?

For them he's just another Imperial Officer and perhaps that fig's just that.

I totally see that point but in history LEGO doesn't think that way. They put meaningful figs in there sets, it's up to the kid's to lower the importance of a fig to mear soldier status. Taking into account all the battlepacks so far, I really don't think we'll be getting a named character in the battle packs.

Sadly that ice cave looks like a MOC to me and the cave is a bit on the small size.

Also the freco speeder - impressed I'm yes - me sounding a little Yoda-ish.
