Lego will likely be phasing out the old style head in 2010 rerelease of the x-wing, like they did with the astromech in the star destroyer when it was rereleased in 2008, yet even down to the inventory page and box still showed the old style head.

What re-releases? The 6212 X-Wing has only been released once in 2006, and is still in production. 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer was also released in 2006, but is no longer in production. As far as I know, the black R2 unit included never changed during the production of of 6211. However in 2008, Lego released 10188 Death Star The black R2 unit with this set incorporated the new printing design, like the new R2-D2, also first released with 10188.

Are you suggesting that Lego will put the new R2-D2 head into the 4 year old X-Wing, as long as they continue to produce that set? Or are you saying that when the X-wing finally vanishes from the stores, it will be the last time we see the original R2-D2 included in a set sold at retail?

The Star Destroyer set I got on Black Friday at Target in 2008 had the new Black R2 head. I think it is possible that they would put the new R2D2 head in the X-wing, as it seems like a set that still has the potential to sell for another few years.

But I really don't see what the fuss is, I'm personally sick of seeing this nonsense in this thread when I'm looking for news. :hmpf_bad: I think this would be better suited for a new thread...

The 6211 was re-released as a Target Black Friday exclusive, in 2008, it included the same droid as 10188 as well as the new painted Stormtrooper helmets, that were in the 08 BP's, blackhanded Imperial Guard, and the Imperial Inspection Vader. As to for "re-release" of the 6212, that was a figure of speech. So what I'm getting at is its likely possible Lego could switch the part and would it would be cheaper then producing 2 different heads, and wouldn't be the first time Lego did such a change with out changing boxes/instruction books etc.

So a special edition, or a limited release? That makes sense. After looking around on the net though (before bringing up the topic), I haven't actually seen a mention of it, which I find odd. You'd think, after a quick Google, I'd find at least one mention of such a set. Maybe now that I know what to look for...

So it's the first I've heard of it, and thanks for the info. There are no Target stores or Black Friday holiday here in the U.K. and I haven't seen many such promotions at places like Toys R Us. The last one I remember was 7283 Ultimate Space Battle from 2005, but that just included all new parts, not improved designs from older sets.

I'd still be a little surprised if Lego did put the new Artoo into 6212 for 2010, especially if it's not a special edition release, but if this is the case, and someone knows for sure, let it be known.

It was mentioned here in a thread or so.

Yeah, I noticed after another quick Google. The original post by Darthperson also turned up.

Anyway, unless someone else has more to add on Artoo in an old set, I guess we should wrap it up a bit. I can see that the thread has managed to drift off course a bit and has muddied the waters between what's new this year and what's not so new this year.

And since I'm new around these parts, I don't want to get a reprimand from KimT for derailing the thread.

Sorry.

Edit: You didn't have to go looking for the old thread, Knightsword. But thanks, much appreciated.

Sorry.

Or by me

I found it to be of some interest for sure, but it definatley feels to be covered from all angels.

Your insight was good and valid, but now it is enough of that please.

So lets continue on the subject please.

p.s This is not a reprimand at all afosl  d.s

Agreed.

I actually like the way this topic is going.

It's great to have a good discussion on stuff like this, just as long as it doesn't totally derail the topic.

Thanks guys for keeping this clean and useful

I know that this is probably a bit off of the current discussion but, I have recently gotten into Lego Star Wars and was a little sad to miss both the Motorized AT-AT Walker and the Death Star as I will not have enough money soon to get them. I was browsing your forum and then I saw what looks like a now AT-AT Walker coming out this year. Is that true? :sweet:

Yes, in fact the discussion about the new AT AT is just a few pages back.

And quite long might I add...

Let's wait a few weeks so we can have a long discussion about Bane's Speeder.

I honestly think people are being pretty harsh on this new AT-AT.

I definitely would have preferred a UCS AT-AT, but I can also settle for this one.

Let's consider a few things - the first AT-AT came out in 2003, the motorized one in 2007 (and an mini thrown in there too).

-There have been many Star Wars vehicles recreated far more often than this one.

-Now, not everywhere in the world is fortunate enough to have LEGO stores, so unless S@H was used, the motorized version could be quite inaccessible. It's very likely that many people aren't even aware of sets that they don't see on their local store shelves. For the sake of argument, let's cut people some slack and say the last AT-AT available to the masses was the original one in 2003.

-The original 2003 AT-AT wasn't exactly the cheapest thing either, so even if you saw it for sale back in the day you might not have had the cash to pick it up.

-The way I see it, this new model should be a bit cheaper than the original, and be at least as accessible (even if it does turn out to be a TRU exclusive).

Considering the piece count and the size of the model, it really doesn't look too horrible. Sure the 2003 version takes the cake for design, but this one really isn't that much smaller if you count studs. The head seems the most off to me, but the body and legs are fairly accurate when compared to the beast from the movie. These are just initial reactions, and I won't judge it very hard until I see better pictures and have the full scoop. However, being someone who doesn't yet own a LEGO AT-AT in any form, I can say that I am looking forward to this set.

Well I agree with you 100%. I have to say that I am very glad they are coming out with another AT-AT. I never had the chance to get either of the older ones and I don't have $300-$400 to spend on just one set, if I got it off of ebay, bricklink, etc... so I am very excited about this new one.

Just that is what also have been said before (of me for instance). There are always "new" people who discover the wonderfulness

of the bricks combined with SW. Those persons most often will experiance just what you just said.

For all those of you, plus all the kids out there today that wants an AT-AT, this sure is a great opportunity to get one.

I will most definatley get one myself, even though I had four of the first one, and one motorized one.

But also said before, I really hope that TLC will give us a kind of UCS version of this that will be between 200-250 $ (maybe even 300).

But we will see about that. For now, I am really glad for all of you who are satisfied and exited with this version and never had

the chance to get the privious ones.

I've never seen this thread so quiet. :look:

Anyway, today I rewatched 'Hostage Crisis' and took a closer look at the characters. I surprises me how the Assassin Droids or Commando Droids are not included in the figure poster. They play a large role in the episode, but LEGO don't really care about that sort of importance, eh? :sceptic:

I thought that the Senate Guards could have some sort of compatibility with a Commando droid (if any figure of the sort is produced) and have to option to put the Droid heads under the Senate Commando helmets. Just like the questionable Tactical Droid in the Turbo Tank I wondered whether LEGO had not yet fuly designed the figures to go into production...

Agreed. This had the potential for a very fig-worthy set. The should've taken out the two cammondos- kept the captain- and added 3-D, a commando droid, and Aurra Sing. Maybe even Robino.

Shows one black Elite IG-86.

Can anyone see the different faces for the Cad Bane's Speeder Commandos in the poster?

No.

I am pleased with the figur selection of the set. Cad Bane as an Alternative from CTT, the awesome Weequay bountyhunter, two Senate guards (one of them even has another rank). Only downside is that a purple IG-86 would have suited the episode better than cheap black.

But Aurra Sing should have been on the list at any time. She plays a role worthy to remember in both season finales, by now.

hi,

Sorry if this was posted already but in the Star Wars comic of the March-April issue of the Lego Club magizine, There was the white maloander. It's in the top right hand corner. Why would lego do that? If someone can scan a copy of it that would be great!
