Grimmy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) I would assume that these are as final as they're going to get. It takes a long time to get a finalized mold, and then starting production also takes a long time.To be honest, I usually give sets the benefit of the doubt. However, I'm not a fan of the Wampa for a few reasons: This is not the shaggy monster we see in Ep. V. This looks more like a big poofy dog. Personally I'm a fan of whatever gives me a discount on an expensive set. I wish they had this set in the U.S. Combo packs sound great to me. I like it. Reminds me of the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer character, the Abominable Snow Monster. Edited February 2, 2010 by Grimmy Quote

I think you guys are being overly picky. The limbs may need a little extension, but this thing is really the monster we see right there! Maybe some blood stains too, but this is Lego! Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 It does look pretty good with the little bits of black marking on the body of the wampa. Quite accurate Quote

I agree Wampa could have been so much better - smaller arms and taller legs- that's it would have saved the fig- left hand is good but right is horrifying but i'm quite happy- since now there is no reason to buy that set- i can get luke's hat and zev from bp. Now i'm waiting for a rancor- it is much more useful than wampa Is it available at just the German TRU, or is it everywhere? Plus it seems odd 4 phase I clones with 1 phase II clones. That is a very odd combination indeed however it looks very good combination- a set with so many droids and ultimately sweet Barriss cannot be bad.... Quote
Saint Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Aside for the "Willy-Wonka-Wampa" It's nice to see the new sets. I glanced in a retail book today, ( sorry no pic's ) and saw the new sets . Another General Grevious with fighter,( that's the third one, ) Canopy is new, with a Mon calemari and a driod, GG is completly different and has some sort of moving parts If you missed out on both of Bobba Fett's ships, this is your chance ! Another one !! New Boba, with cape, so the helmet apears to be loose !! , come's with a Han Solo, yellow fig bountyhunter ( can't remember his name ) and a slab of Carbonite ( that looks a little odd, but I think Han fits in ) CTT  !! Together wit a AT-RT , clone, anakin , jedi , nameless , and that new guy, ( I only glanced it, sadly , it was to much to take in... after crying out YES and doing a dance in the shop ) And the Theta Shutlle, Nice design, didn't take a good look , but looks to me like a apperentice vader with pilot and the emperor... Well, the interior looked nice , do okay.... Lot of bley stuff , exept for Slave 1.3 This is going to be very expensive this summer Edited February 2, 2010 by Saint Quote

Anyway, how old is your retailer catalogue? Is it different from the pictures we already have? If it's newer, can you please describe Greivous's cockpit? Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 This is going to be very expensive this summer Amen to that! Then we have not seen all rumored sets so far of this year. We don´t know if TLC has an Ess in their sleve to pull like last years Dropship as well. Or will that be the AT-AT, or a Cloud City set or something different. Quote

Ras 74 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 The post below was edited by me because it was a really bad one. I apologize to the ones he quoted, and I hope you didn´t read what he wrote. Keep the discussion running dear Star Wars friends! Quote
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I hope this years surprise set like the AT-OT last year, is something with Mandalorians. Quote
RileyC Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Grevious is a completely new mould, tan with painted black features. He looked well wicked... Its probably the same as the one in the Quest for R2 D2. He didnt look too bad and the bendy parts should be useful. Quote
Saint Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) The retailer's book showed only the prelim-pic's, sorry. But I think they're 99 % accurate, the fig's missing out are either blue, or no visible ( like bane and the jedi from the CTT ) , so they were not done yet The cockpitwindow of the GGSF can make a comparison to a Stealth Fighter, IMO it looks quite like it, nice to fiddle around for a MOC. -JD- Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I Think he has Balls for his arm sockets, so they can go 360! Hehe. I think the new cockpit part will come in use elsewhere. I still hate that missile which looks like a futuristic submarine... Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Its probably the same as the one in the Quest for R2 D2. German toy storechain "Vedes" started giving away the set 30005 Imperial Speeder to every purchase of LEGO Star Wars products of at least 20€. Some of the stores even sell the speeder for 2,99€ (same price as City/Castle impulse sets), but this is seen rarely since the speeder is meant as a give-away. Quote

That would be great for us in Holland who can't get special promo's. Just drive to a Lego store and buy them all EDIT: Doesn't this belong in the 'Star Wars sets anyone?' topic? I also think the new Grievous has new 'feet', which are connected to the legs instead of one mold. Edited February 3, 2010 by commdr_neyo Quote
KimT Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 At the Canadian Toy Fair several of the August wave of Star Wars sets was shown. Kris Abel writes about it in his blog here. Thanks to Agent Orange on Brickhorizon.com for finding this Quote
MrTools Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Thanks for sharing those pics, though the CTT seems to be missing a lot to it and Cad Bane has a lightsaber. Quote
Bob Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Is that a commando droid I spy nearby the wheels? I'm going to have to buy everything, now. Quote
SWMAN Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Thanks for sharing those pics, though the CTT seems to be missing a lot to it and Cad Bane has a lightsaber. Yeah. A lot of times these Toy Fairs are set up quickly by people that don't really pay attention to detail. It looks like the Clone Trooper on top of the CTT has a Hoth helmet. I wish there were detailed pictured of Slave I. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 At the Canadian Toy Fair several of the August wave of Star Wars sets was shown.Kris Abel writes about it in his blog here. *SNIP* You missed a couple, anyway, the Wampa is a revert from what we already have, but these pictures are nice. Cad bane is wielding a lightsaber and a clone has the wrong helmet, clearly that's prelim, but we were right about Aayla. Greivous looks totally new, and check out his cockpit! http://krisabel.ctv.ca/image.axd?picture=2...2010swars16.jpg Thank God, it's different! I knew it! They may not have changed much, and the model might be broken, but this cockpit has 5 viewports and the last one had 3! Look, it's more shape-ful! The medical droid horrendous though... Odd to see a Scout Trooper in one of the pictures, seeing as all of the sets shown were from 2010... perhaps a glimpse from the next Endor set rumor? Commando Droid by the wheels! Quote
KimT Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 What did I miss? The pics of already released sets or the one you link to which is one of the pics in my post? Quote
BearHeart Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 @#$%!!! There's no pics of General Grevious!!! I'm waiting to see what the new version looks like! Quote
Big Cam Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 OMG, this is going to get expensive. I must have the Wampa Cave set, the new Slave 1, Grevious' ship, that imperial shuttle, adn maybe the tank. I love the wampa, and the new grevious looks pretty cool. Thank you for the pictures!! Rufus Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I don't think Grievous' starfighter cockpit is any different to the earlier prelim pics; if you look closely you can see that the built model's cockpit is mounted incorrectly. The prelim pic on the box is the same as we'd seen earlier but clearer (I think). It still looks odd to me - the 'real' one should be more rounded. Link I wouldn't be surprised if the final set has stickers to make the cockpit look closer to the real thing. Quote
