Darth Legolas Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Well, looks like the CTT can attach to the LAAT/C. What do ya know? It also looks like the AT-RT is horrific. It seems it is storeable though, which is the main reason for the design I guess. We don't see much new from the Wampa Cave, it just looks like all features described, great Snow Speeder, Wampa, cave with lightsaber shooter and Luke-dropper, and Luke and Zev. Those two are on my list, thanks Tinn-Man! Quote
Gnewal Gwevus Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I definately agree. I might have to just Brick link the Wampa, but the CTT would be even more amazing if it could attach to the dropship. Also, it doesn't seem like Lego can ever make a good AT-RT lately, the battle pack, the CTT I mean sheesh. Quote

I'm getting the Wampa Cave partly to complete my huge Hoth Diorama, but mostly because I need all of the Snow Speeders I can get. I think the CTT can attach, unless there is another reason for the giant protruding beam with a technic pin at the top. Lego's first AT-RT was the closest, though it didn't have good posability, the second was just a two-man vehicle, they weren't trying. This new one is just made to fit into the ship, regardless of how ugly it is. It looked better in the older pictures. Quote

Hmm... maybe next year they'll make an Acclamator with a pop off bottom and a crane that could grab all of the vehicles? That'll be like a one in five billion chance Hoth Dioramas are always cool. I personally only have two hoth sets, but I'm collecting as much rebel as I can get! sorry mods, I got off topic Edited February 10, 2010 by Gnewal Gwevus Quote
DarthSion Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I bet another reason for the new Grievous, the new lego game. Quote
JCC1004 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I think the CTT can attach, unless there is another reason for the giant protruding beam with a technic pin at the top. Maybe a handle? Anyway I love the details on the Snowspeeder even if they're stickers. I love the ZZ part. I wish it didn't come with Zev but we is the one who found Han and Luke. I also don't think that the Snowspeeders had co-pilots while they were scouting. I have plenty of pilots anyway. At least the price seems a lot more reasonable then other sets. Quote
KDog Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Damn, they finally make an Aayla Secura minifig, and she's exclusive to a large, expensive set I'm not going to buy and otherwise have no interest in. Quote

-JD- Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 The Turbo Tank is okay, the price is not. The parts will be changed after I have tried out the officiall model, I think. Anyway, the Wampa Cave looks pretty bare. I'll have to wait for reviews before I buy these sets. Quote
RileyC Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Is the lightsabre holder in the Wampa Cave just a flick-fire? If it is then lego just cant get enough of them! Quote
Penitent Tangent Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 The obscure mini-figures only serve to drive up the already over-inflated price. Given a $10 price reduction and no "blink and you'll miss 'em" characters, I'll take it. Remember, this is a Clone Wars set. Both Cad Bane and Aayla Secura have featured prominantly in the series, Cad Bane inparticular has been more or less then main villian in season 2, and while Aayla Secura has only appeared in a couple of episodes, she's already a hugely popular character and has been requested for quite some time. Regardless, you still get Anakin and Ahsoka in the set, along with two clones. I like the idea of throwing in a few lesser known characters along with the sets to make them more interesting. Would you also complain about the addition of Admiral Ackbar, Wedge or General Veers in other sets? It's these guys that make the sets more fun, It'd be very boring if Lego just stuck to the really well known characters in every single set. I already have more Han and Luke's than I know what to do with. And don't get me started on R2. I also have to take this oppertunity to say stop complaining about the prices. Yes, it's $120. It's also double that amount in most countries outside of the US. Get over it. Where I live, I fully expect to pay the equivalent of $150-180. So boo-hoo. I honestly can't stress enough how little everyone else cares that you're having to pay $10-20 more than you might like for it. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 At first I thought the turbo tank's handle was more for carrying. But from the looks of it and being very similar to the AT-TE, it does look like it can be picked up by the dropship Quote
Snowspeeder Pilot Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) I think Lego needs to introduce Wes Janson (Wedge Antilles' Gunner) instead Zev Senesca, he plays an important role shooting down that AT-AT. By the other hand I like 4500 Snowspeeder than this. Edited February 10, 2010 by Snowspeeder Pilot Quote
prof1515 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Would you also complain about the addition of Admiral Ackbar, Wedge or General Veers in other sets? If they're not related to the scene depicted by the set, yes. It's these guys that make the sets more fun, It'd be very boring if Lego just stuck to the really well known characters in every single set. I already have more Han and Luke's than I know what to do with. And don't get me started on R2. Who cares if you have more "Han and Luke's (sic) than [you] know what to do with"? They're primary characters and not everyone can afford every set. Some parents will be selective in what they get their children and in tough economic times all the more so. Why not release these Clone Wars characters in a set that's relevant to them? Does the poorly-named villain have a spacecraft of their own? Does the obscure Jedi feature in a scene with a particular vehicle that they fly/drive? Why not release them in a set appropriate to their scene instead of tossing them on randomly to an overpriced remake? Obviously because Lego isn't confidant that anyone would want to buy a remake of a $120 box on wheels. Lego's behavior reeks of desperation on their part due to a lack of creativity. They're not sure they can entice anyone to shell out large amounts of money for remakes of earlier sets so they toss on some mini-figure to entice some customers. You could call that good business but it's actually good marketing and bad business. I also have to take this oppertunity (sic) to say stop complaining about the prices.Yes, it's $120. I honestly can't stress enough how little everyone else cares that you're having to pay $10-20 more than you might like for it. I have absolutely no intention of buying this set as I have absolutely no interest in the Clone Wars. My comments are in regard to Lego's policies and how they affect consumers who are interested in buying a set only to have Lego jack the price up with gimmicks. Throwing desired (by others) mini-figures onto expensive sets is a marketing gimmick and not a sign of a quality set. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Star Wars line has hit a dry well if Lego feels this is the best that they can do. Additionally, by your own arguments, I honestly can't stress enough how little everyone else cares that you're having to pay $150-180. Boo hoo. Get over it yourself. Brickster22 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 The sw sets are awesome! It is kind of weird that we have not gotten much pictures of Plo Koon Starfighter. It is sad that lego sw ending. P.S.My first post. Quote
KDog Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 You forgot to rant about how she is CW and not Classic. That part doesn't bother me. The figure looks great. I just hope we'll see Aayla at least released as a magnet. Quote
SWMAN Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Thanks for the pictures, but I am not really impressed with the the CTT. It looks very similar to the previous release and is lacking any color. Quote

You could call that good business but it's actually good marketing and bad business. I have no problem with them including the main characters in the sets more commonly. The turbo tank does come with the two main characters.. but it also makes sense to throw in one of the villians and a supporting character too, that way the kids actually have someone to make the Jedi fight against. Getting three heroes isn't very much fun on its own is it? It's exactly the same type of thing we saw with sets like the Gunship, which came with Obi-wan, Cody, Plo-koon as an extra cameo and Asajj Ventress for the bad guy. To me this makes perfect sense for a large play set. Cad Bane is also (presumably) coming with the Cad Bane speeder set this year, so people who are unwilling to splash out on the large turbo tank will be able to get him with that set, along with the heroes who are all dotted around some smaller sets too, such as Anakin with the freco bike. As for the collectors like myself, it's just nice to be able to finally get some of these characters. Aayla Secura may not have appeared with a turbo tank in the series, but she did in the movies.. so it does make some sense. I have absolutely no intention of buying this set as I have absolutely no interest in the Clone Wars. Boo hoo. Get over it yourself. And I was simply playing mod. Didn't mean to directly attack you, but this isn't the place to discuss prices. And if you disliked my comment about how much other countries are having to pay, perhaps you can understand how redundant your own comments on the matter were. :) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Thank you very much for the clear pics, Tinn-man! The Wampa Cave really looks - the design of the cave, the animal skeletton, Hoth Luke and the Wampa. I have no use for the Snowspeeder - but it's ok that TLG included one for those which don't have got one yet. At least they designed it very similar in size and design to the one included in the Hoth Rebel Base set so they go together. I think Lego needs to introduce Wes Janson (Wedge Antilles' Gunner) instead Zev Senesca, he plays an important role shooting down that AT-AT. I totally agree with you, Snowspeeder Pilot! It's too bad that TLG included Zev in the BP as well as in the Wampa Cave set. In one set there really should be a different pilot. Is the lightsabre holder in the Wampa Cave just a flick-fire? I could well imagine that you're right, Ronacator! Perhaps you can tip on the bottom of the ice block and then Luke's lightsaber hops out. Klaus-Dieter Quote

It looks very similar to the previous release and is lacking any color. Aye, that's my problem with many of these new releases. In fact I prefer the gun turrets on the original (I additionally modified one of them) and the new tank seems to have the same problem as the old with a huge amount of air between the axles lending itself to being a bit fragile. The minifig selection is 1st class though... Wampa Cave looks alright but it seems to have been bulked out substantially to hit a higher price point... want that Wampa though! Quote

My friends at Lego told me that they're going to release an obscure and relatively unknown ship, you have to believe me too. After all, I said that my friend at Lego said this. We get someone that does this every few months. Where is your proof/links/pictures/any information at all. Are we just supposed to take your word? Quote
