BlueDragonZ Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Another magnetset with an Ewok and a scout trooper would have make so sense, fortunately your source was wrong... But a magnetset with Admiral Ackbar and Leia? This would be awesome! So I don't have to buy the horrible and overpriced Mon Calamari-Set to get this fig. Thanks for this information! Actually, the home one is now on sale for $76.99 (30% off) at toysrus. Quote
JimBee Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Has anyone posted the Han/ Ewok/ Scout magnet set yet? I know we've already seen the Separatist magnet set. It appears that the Ewok is indeed Paploo. (From ToysnBricks) I'm not too excited for either of these, since I already have them all (except Palpy... not that I want to have nightmares), but I'm looking forward to the Taintive IV magnet set- a chance to get Ackbar and Leia without forking over 110 USD. There goes the worth of the Leia fig... Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Im abit disapointed that Lego have used alot of last years figs in these magnet sets. I think Bane and and Aayla would have been nice to have as some of the figs. Oh well. CommanderFox Quote

Oh well. CommanderFox I agree. If you want the Seperatists, might as well buy the Shuttle. Anyways, there might be new magnets in the summer wave. Quote

It wouldn't make sense for Lego to hype these figs in pricey sets then release them as magnets in the same year. Quote

The Legonater Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Um correct me if I'm wrong (never bought magnet sets before), but don't magnet sets have an unsightly Lego Logo on the back of their torsos? I think keychain figs would be preferable, but even they have a big hole in their heads if you remove the metal piece. I believe you are wrong. I don't have a magnet set, but I've heard they're the exsact same as any other figure, the magnet is in a stand they... well... stand on. I do have a keychain, however, and you can't take out the chain. Quote

The Lego logo existed only on older figures from keychains, magnets, etc. EDIT: More info added. Edited February 21, 2010 by JCC1004 Quote
Prime Brick Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Do you think TLC ment for us to use the magnets, instead of buying the sets, or is it all part of somesort of plan they have? Quote
JCC1004 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Do you think TLC ment for us to use the magnets, instead of buying the sets, or is it all part of somesort of plan they have? They release the sets with the figures so people who want them buy them. Then after the "I want those figures!" hype they release the magnet for kids that couldn't get the sets or AFOLs who would buy them becuase they didn't want the sets. Just my theory. Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 All these magnet sets are really making the figs have less value.I mean the Venator is completely useless for figs now with Chancellor Palpatine in magnet form and the Senate Commando available in a cheaper set coming. I do really like the new figs however I'm hesitant whether to get the sets for figs now as they may appear cheaper in magnet form. Ya it's a big disappointment when they made the count dooku into a magnet. The dooku solar sailer has nothing special other than the ship and speeder bike despite it being a limited edition set. I hope they don't make Barris into a magnet cause if she was, theres nothing too special from the set with the high price. There is a balance. People who can't afford the sets will be happy with magnets. People that have the sets already will be frustrated because their figures will not be worth as much. Personally, I would prefer no magnets. Prepare to see CW palpatine price drop from $15 to $4 and nute gunray / onaconda from $8 to $3 once these magnets hits the market. Quote

From my perspective, I think it may be true. That way, lego can continue to earn $ since most parents won't buy every set just to get all the figures there kids want. Quote

Jar Jar Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Found this on Starwars.com. http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/index.php...eroes-for-2010/ Hasbro is releasing an AT-AT for their Galactic Heroes line. It comes with a speeder. Could this possibly mean we will get one in the LEGO set? Edited February 23, 2010 by Jar Jar Quote

It comes with a speeder. Could this possibly mean we will get one in the LEGO set? It's not really related. Hasbro is putting a speeder in the new 3 3/4 version too. The older AT-AT had one too. I'd be a nice addition but I already have the one form the battle pack. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 This pic should answer your question: I also expected a more accurate carbonite block, in which Han would be totally integrated, and not only fixed to with his hands. This carbonite block doesn't have anything to do with Lego as we know it, nor do Grievous or Boba. It somehow makes me feel old and sad, when I see that the toy we love is turning into Hasbro. Thank you very much for this information, Commander 501! It's strange that Han has to be put inside the carbonite block from below. Nevertheless the carbonite block looks imo very realistic. Strand Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 So the magnet figures are essentially the same? If so, I'm a bit peeved that I bought the Separatist Egg ship twice for more Rodian heads if I could buy one in a cheaper set WITH palpatine. That said, some are saying the newer sets are better quality (minus red-eyed Mace Windu etc), but would you be able to distinguish between a magnet minifig and one from a set without knowing? (Pepsi taste test) and would Bricklink categorise them separately? Aka figure X from magnet set and the same one from a real set? Seems a bit dodgy, if you buy something and find out it's some poorer quality version. Quote

You can only tell if you look at the toroso's neck. If there is black marking, its a real figure, if theres none, its a cheap magnet figure. The quality of the magnets also feel cheaper and not as smooth as the regular minifigures. Bricklink most likely won't catergorize is separately and the value of the minifigures will decrease for sure. Best thing to do is always ask the seller. Hope this clears up your question Quote
pugsx3 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I just went to my local lego store in usa the new magnet sets are selling as of today but only the palpatine set and the han solo set the ackbar set was there with princess leia (she has a small blaster like the agents gun) c3po in dark pearl gold the admiral ackbar set they wont sell this set due to the misprint on the ackbar it says ackmar they put it on hold probably for a sticker fix also new keychains are out admiral ackbar// onaconda farr// nute gunray // han solo //wickett // leia the leia in the magnet set has the regular bun not the smooth bun Quote

Thanks for the heads up. The Ackmar issue is stupid. I don't give a damn if it's misspelled. Well that's some more of the stupid thing TLG does. Why even put it out if they're not going to sell it? What a wonderful idea. Anyway I don't know why they'd give Leia a magnum. But I'll be deciding between the Ackbar and Farr keychain. Quote

Darth Legolas Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 New photos of summer sets! Link:Photos Thanks! All of these pictures do the sets justice. It's still not my favorite ( ) but Greivous's fighter is looking much better, and I don't think anyone at the Toyfair showed that picture! The Slave I looks excellent, and Plo's fighter is the "usual" Delta-7B fighter. Too bad there are still no exclusive pics. If they aren't here by April, something's gone horribly wrong in the Lego factory. Quote
ILikePi Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 New photos of summer sets! Link:Photos Thanks for the link!8085 General Grievous' Starfighter looks even better now! I like the hidden flick-fire missile compartments on the sides, the repairing chair, and the trans-light blue thrusters on the back. 8093 Plo Koon's Starfighter is still uninteresting to me, but it seems to be different than Anakin and Ahsoka's starfighters, so that's pretty good. 8096 Palpatine's Shuttle seems a small in the picture, but the minfigs make up for it. The random placements of dark red, dark tan and white don't bother me at all, at least from this angle. 8097 Slave I looks even better now! I never noticed the small amounts of sand green before, and this picture makes the set look very sleek. Also, that gigantic printed windshield is awesome! No comments on the Clone Turbo Tank and Hoth Wampa Cave sets, except that I still don't like the huge amount of yellow in the CTT. Quote
