CF Mitch Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Anyone else having similar second thoughts? Absolutely. Though my money would be spend only for Boba Fett and Han's new torso and face. But I already have one standing here which I bought only for the figs as well so... I guess it depends on the price Quote
yellost Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Curious to see how many of you who own the Slave1 (IG-88 & Dengar) will still go ahead and grab this one too?I'm struggling a little bit with this decision. I fear I'd be spending all that money just for Bossk, and there's just so much more out there to spend money on in other lines. Anyone else having similar second thoughts? I'm having the exact same dilemma, too... Though I found a sort of solution : I'll get rid of jango's Slave one which was pretty ugly anyway and with the pieces, I'll modify the previous Boba's to make it back into Jango's but with a far better look and shape. But it still does depend on the final price... Quote
Brickus Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I have the old 2006 Slave 1, I actually just bought it recently for an insane price, and I will get the new one, because it looks like an improvement over the 2006 one, and that new carbonite piece, Boba, Bossk are too good to pass up. Quote

Totally in the same predicament. I absolutely love my 2006 version and this just doesn't seem to be as appealing to me. I really love Bossk (he is my son's favorite bounty hunter too) but this is an expensive way just to get him. I've never dealt with BrickLink before and I doubt I'd start now just for one minifigure. There's just so much in other themes that I want that I think I'll have to wait and hope that this will go on sale at some point (not a lot of sales where I'm from) and even then I don't know if it'll justify this. There are just so many good features on this version. I think I will break up my older version for parts, or rebuild a Jango version of it. Quote

I own 6209, but if I didn't, I would buy 8097 without hesitation. Besides the minifigures, the only improvements that I see on 8097 relative to the ship are the better details around the wing wells and possibly a better color scheme. Other than that it's the same ship with respect to stud length, width, and height, and the secret compartments housing the missiles and cannons are similar. Based on this I cannot justify the cost for essentially the same set as compared to 6209 imo. The minifigures are hard to pass up and my hope is that LEGO will release a future set or sets with them included, such as an updated LEGO Cloud City. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of 10212. I do not have a lambda class shuttle, so this set most likely will be a must buy for me. Quote
Future74 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I own 7153 Jango's Slave I and 6209 Slave I, and for me the new one is a no-brainer and a definite must-buy. And I not just saying this as a collector, I think they added/changed enough features to justify this buy. Not to mention the awesome minifigures they added But the real judgement on this can be made after comparing the two after its release. Quote
Sid Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Is anyone else craving a Luminara? I'm surprised Lego hasn't released a CW version. Come on TLG, I would rather not pay $50 for one. Quote

I agree I own all 3 of the previous slave 1 ships to be honest I like the 6209 alot if you think back when that set came out we were very happy with the figures dengar bespin gaurd a boba this set is always great for mini figs I am really looking forward to the clone turbo tanks side by side Quote

I fear I'd be spending all that money just for Bossk, and there's just so much more out there to spend money on in other lines. Anyone else having similar second thoughts? This is a major issue with me and most of TLC's recent and upcoming releases. The ARC-170, Landspeeder, Tri-droid, Slave 1, Turbo Tank are all release of which I own, in some cases several versions of. Even Wampa Attack has another Snowspeeder which seems an addition purely to bulk the set out. Furthermore there is not a great deal of difference in build between old and new and yet the prices for Star Wars LEGO are climbing at an alarming rate. That said there have been some great new sets like the Freeco Bike and Swamp Speeder (although a remake the Swamp Speeder is substantially better then the original and includes the lovely Barriss Offee ) which are both really nice, and generally there are some superb new minifigs throughout the sets. But I don't buy sets just for the minifigs - battle packs accepted - and with high and rising prices and a lack of originality I fear my future with Star Wars theme purchases is getting dark... Is anyone else craving a Luminara? I'm surprised Lego hasn't released a CW version. Come on TLG, I would rather notpay $50 for one. I'm the happy owner owner of an original LuL Luminara but I'd be interested to see what a new version would be like - sans LuL. You never know, in the trend of new releases TLC might include her with the AT-AT...! Quote
Strand Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Curious to see how many of you who own the Slave1 (IG-88 & Dengar) will still go ahead and grab this one too? I have both the previous one and Jango Fett's and this is still a guaranteed buy for me. The mega-cool new minifigs as well as overall improved design are enough. The shoulders and colour scheme are lovely. Quote

On the topic of Clone Wars Jedi, I want a Ki-Adi Mundi. Although, I 'd personally prefer a Corran Horn, Mara Jade, or Tycho. Quote
Knightsword Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) On the topic of Clone Wars Jedi, I want a Ki-Adi Mundi. Although, I 'd personally prefer a Corran Horn, Mara Jade, or Tycho. The 6207 A-Wing pilot could be considered an unofficial Tycho, he was in one of the A-Wings that flew into the Deathstar 2 with Wedge and Falcon, he was the one the broke off and led the TIE's away. Back to the topic at hand, I'm looking foward to the new slave one, I have previous one, but it bugged me how Han in carbonite ended up as a 1x2x5 brick, as well as the missile launcher. Maybe I'll turn that one into a Jango's too. Edited March 26, 2010 by Knightsword Quote

True... but I'd preferr a official version, with an actual head instead a smiley face. Quote
The Legonater Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Thats all Wedge got, sadly Yeah, but I found an appropriate replacement. I still don't have a Biggs, though. Quote
Fallenangel Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 The new 8097 Slave I certainly looks like more than a lazy redesign, unlike the new ARC-170. Although I wonder why LEGO didn't re-release Jango Fett's Attack of the Clones Slave I, as that version got more screen time and weapons. There must be some pretty spoiled children out there if parents are willing to pay $90 for a ship they saw for maybe 10 seconds. The new minifigures are amazing, though I must say I think the new Boba Fett looks a bit cartoony. I probably won't be picking up the new Slave I for (1) the price and (2) I already have a pretty good version of it. I wish LEGO had redesigned the X-wing for 6212 like this! (By the way, wasn't Wedge Red TWO and not THREE?) (I want) CLONE WARS SHAAK TI! CLONE WARS SHAAK TI! I so wish LEGO would find more cheaper ways to include Boba Fett... maybe with a Cloud City vignette? (Not the whole thing; maybe just the freezing chamber...) Bossk looks awesome! I wonder if LEGO will include Zuckuss and 4-LOM in future sets to complete the Executor bridge scene? Has anyone tried using the Exo-Force heads or the Oddball head from the new ARC-170 for a Rebel pilot? Quote

I'm definitely getting the new one despite having the 2006 version. As a matter of fact, it's the only set I'll get out of the whole wave (not including Cad Bane's speeder, we don't know much about that set). Han Solo in carbonite is by far one of my favorite parts of the movie as a kid, and I really can't resist the new mold. I really like the application of the new dark green curves by the wings. Bossk and the new Boba are just icing on the cake for me. Pictures of Cad Bane's Speeder, please, oh mighty SW Lego Gods! Quote

You can pretty much say this about any ship in the OT besides the Falcon, X-wing or TIE fighters. Boba even as a character only has a few minutes of screentime and few lines of dialogue. He's not even a badass in the movies, his only real action scene he gets beaten by a blind Han Solo. It's only through fandom that people became interested or wrote stories to make him one of the most popular supporting characters. Same with Slave I. we don't see much of it, yet there are countless games, novels, comic books that feature the ship. Quote
Anio Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) I don't have seen the new AT-AT on the frontpage. So, I assume you don't have any picture of it yet. Sorry if I'm wrong. If I'm right, here is the new AT-AT I found on my forum (thanks to Lutin) : The legs are quite ugly IMHO. They are too clumsy and have no printed dish. :o EDIT : we can see hinge on the sides : the model has an interior. :o That's cool ! Edited March 28, 2010 by Anio Quote

Thanks for this! The long-awaited AT-AT finally appears. I don't think the legs look so bad - at least they're not naked like the motorised one. Overall, I think they've done a good job - yeah, it's a little smaller than the previous incarnations, but the overall shape is perfect and they've embiggened the ankles nicely. But another Hoth Han? PS I'm impressed with the unarmed Imperial Officer boldly strolling towards the rebels - maybe he's going to have a fist fight with 3PO?? Edited March 28, 2010 by Rufus Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Oh, man that's it I'm broke this year now...........must........... have...... new.... AT-AT ! But I thought it was based in Endor, this is Hoth - COOL ! I'll add this to the rest of my Hoth gear I have already ! You are right 'Anio' no printed dishes, cost cutting measures eh ? I don't mind the legs, but I feel we need more pictures at different angles etc., to say if this is good or not ! I'm a conformist! ! But another Hoth Han? Yeah, what about C3-PO and Luke in flight gear eh ? Heck, I don't mind the more the merrier I say, with my son - we are going to have missing minifig bits along the way ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
