Oky Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Sweet! I'm not really interested in the set since I already have two Kits and one Barris, but at least it's (hopefully) gonna drive down the BrickLink price of the pilot! The people who bought the overpriced Swamp Speeder just for Barris are probably eating their hats right about now. Quote
KimT Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Sorry, and two new keychains!Luke Astromech Droid Enjoy :classic: Don't be Quote
Rufus Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 The people who bought the overpriced Swamp Speeder just for Barris are probably eating their hats right about now. Yeah, tell me about it. Nearly choked on my hat when I thought of the £10 TRU tax I paid. Quote
Legoman Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Argh - Thats both good and very annoying. Barris being in a magnet pack makes the swamp speeder set look a total rip-off But, I still wanted the set, so it doesn't change too much. Quote
Big Cam Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Thanks And deeplinked: [img That;s one hell of a magnet set, since all 3 of those guys/gals come in pretty overpriced sets. Thanks you TLG:) Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Thoughts about the new magnet set: Kit Fisto - It won't be too bad getting another Kit (he's my fave jedi after all-duh!). I bought the 8088 ARC-170 to get my first Kit Fisto minifig, but I also love the ship so it's worth buying the set. Barriss Offee - Dammit! I just recently bought my Barriss minifig from ebay, as I did not want to buy that horrendous Swamp Speeder. If I had known this a li'l bit earler, I should have just waited and bought this magnet set (the price will probably be the same as my Bariss fig ) Captain JAG - I need this third pilot for my ARC-170, though it would have been nicer if it was a regular ARC clone pilot. Still, this is a useful fig. Overall, this is a good magnet set, particularly because of the jedis. Edited June 5, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
The Legonater Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 *Sigh* That's a lame magnet set. I have a few Kits already, I found Bariss was a horrible MF, and they have JAG instead of a generic clone pilot. Quote

I initially thought that was a regular ARC clone pilot, now I realized it's JAG, yeah it would have been more useful it was a generic pilot. They should have just made the set a Jedi Magnet Set, replace the clone pilot with another jedi, probably a Kit-Barriss-Plo (realistic combo) or even a Kit-Luminara-Plo (wishful combo) Quote

Well, that's just wishful thinking on my part, I guess there's already enough reason for TLG to recreate Luminara after 10 long years since she has appeared numerous times in the Clone Wars series. Still, for me, this magnet set is still worth buying, and this will be a great opportunity for others to get these figs for a mcuh cheaper price. Edited June 5, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote

I love Barriss, I don't have any Kit Fisto's and Jag is good, although the generic pilot would have been better. I am a little annoyed because I already bought the Swamp Speeder mainly for Barris (seemed like a better option than paying slightly less just for the minifig). In the future I'm definitely going to hold off on buying sets just for the minifigs. Aayla Secura and Bane for example are bound to turn up in a magnet set by the end of the year. Quote

Destroydacre Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) yeah, but Luminara is a very old mold- ten years old- and LEGO always uses new molds for magnet sets. Luminara was produced in 2005. Not quite 10 years old. If Lego still has the mold for the forestmen hats which were not made for 13 years, I would imagine they still have this mold as well. We could definitely see her appear in new sets later on. Edited June 5, 2010 by Destroydacre Quote

Destroydacre Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 The new forestmen hat is a brand new mold. The hats are different. According to peeron the forestman hat in the vintage minifig collection IV is the same as the old style ones. I was just going by that. It might be a new mold for all I know though and it's not really a big deal. The only point I really wanted to make is Lego could make another Luminara fig if they really wanted to. Quote

KimT Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 Can anyone explain this: Lego Brickmaster: Star Wars (Hardcover) Hardcover: 48 pages Publisher: DK Publishing (Dorling Kindersley) (Nov 2010) Language English ISBN-10: 0756663113 ISBN-13: 978-0756663117 Amazon.co.uk LEGO Brickmaster Star Wars (Paperback) Paperback: 56 pages Publisher: Dorling Kindersley (1 Oct 2010) ISBN-10: 1405356227 ISBN-13: 978-1405356220 Amazon.co.uk I was cleaning up the first post and these two keep puzzling me. Why two different books? Has Amazon complete lost it here? Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Just checked dk.com.au web site, it is the paperback book that's is the Brickmaster one ! I have one on order already ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Legoman Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 My guess is that the hardcover version was just a rough skech as a prototype, to get a picture out there. I think the paperback will be the official; and If they make a hardcover, It will look the same Quote

Why two different books? Has Amazon complete lost it here? I've checked at work, (I work in a bookshop in the UK) and the first ISBN doesn't exist on our system, the second does, but as a "mixed media publication" it doesn't specify hard or paperback cover. I think it would be strange to have a book of this type in paperback. I think amazon got a bit ahead of themselves and added a 'dummy' publication by mistake. I know that doesn't help people that have pre-ordered the first one. Hopefully amazon will transfer those orders over to the proper publication! Kaitan Quote
Cloney Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 To be honest I saw those 2 books about two weeks ago on the net. I thought there were two books coming out. How stupid am I. Now i feel sad because only one is going to come out. But just to be sure....which one is it? And by the way does anyone know what's included? Quote
KimT Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 The 2nd one is definately coming out. What puzzles me is that the page count is different and so are the ISBN numbers. A dummy publication... I certainly hope they don't transfer the preorders, because then I'll have waaaay too many of these Quote
KimT Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 Even more confusing a third cover? Looks more final in my opinion. Glad they decided to skip the Clone Trooper and replace the cut-out with an explosion. Thanks for sharing. I'll add the picture to the 2010 Gallery Quote
