OneSnowTrooper Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 The more I look at the image of the shuttle the more I realize how huge this thing is: detail of the screen:(seems 12 studs long) and the question if it's UCS or not are solved when you look at the details of the engines: def UCS! :-P Quote
cavegod Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 if only those parst where available when i built my shuttle 12x2x4 winscreen in trans black and 4x3 curved wedge in white! looking at that picture of the wing folding hinge it looks like the landing gear will fold out when you fold the wings up. The Legonater Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 It would be be cool if TLG released a twin pod cloud car with lobot and re-released the X-Wing with different figs to fit in with cloud city so we could have a huge cloud city playset and you could pick and choose from Cloud City, Cloud Car, Slave I and an X-Wing. We a;ready have a twin pod cloud car with Lobot- trust me, I bought with my own money, Quote
Clone OPatra Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 We a;ready have a twin pod cloud car with Lobot- trust me, I bought with my own money, I'm sure he knows that, but there has only ever been one model of the Cloud Car, and it is long do for a rerelease. I'm sure that if we do get a new Cloud City, it will come with a Cloud Car. That's not something LEGO would leave out. Quote
LoRd AmUnRa Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Just to clear it up the size Is the new imperial shuttle as big as dmac one? Looking to the cockpits I said yes, but what do you mean? Also I think those two cockpits look identical I mean everything looks more or less identical Edited June 11, 2010 by LoRd AmUnRa Quote

Brickdoctor Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I thought [Cloud City] was rumored to coming out next year? I was under the impression that it lost it's spot to the Home One. Oh men It`s UCS model. With over 2500 pieces. Do you think Lego would made in this model something like cockpit which is one big element? About the price. Dropship with AT-OT has 1758 pieces and costs 250 usd. 250 usd for this Shuttle isn`t high (remember over 2500 pieces). It`s the best SW ship made from lego. Something like Cafe Corner in City. It`s milestone. It doesn`t even look like Lego Seconded. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I was under the impression that it lost it's spot to the Home One. No, that was Slave 1 (Which we have) and Arrest of Palpy (Which is probably coming) Quote
gotoAndLego Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Could we please stop this UCS discussion for now to eternity! It's a great model, if it's too expensive don't buy it. It has minifigs and it's big, what's the difference whether it has a 4 or 5 digit productcode, or if it has UCS on it or not. If you like it, buy it, when you have the money. If you don't like it or think it's too big build your own version, it's Lego in the end. Sheesh, excuse us for being excited about a set. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 No, that was Slave 1 (Which we have) and Arrest of Palpy (Which is probably coming) Actually, it was Slave 1 with Cloud City Landing Platform. Quote

Eichhorn Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 hi! I just saw this on another site (imperiumdersteine) and tought maybe a bigger pic of the shuttle would be helpful for zooming in and counting studs. The quality is still not perfect but it´s slightly bigger; Quote
bamaker Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Eichorn, welcome to EB. That pic was actually already posted earlier today, and someone's already zoomed in and estimated the cockpit windshield to be 12 studs long. To be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed with these 3 sets. The shuttle is just going to be too big. I'm all for realism and accuracy, but it comes to a point that it's being big just for the sake of being big. The system-scale models are perfectly fine, and satisfy the warm, fuzzy feeling that playing with LEGO brings. This new shuttle (and the UCS Falcon, too) is just so huge, that it's only good for displaying. If I wanted a hyper-realistic looking model, I'd rather spend the funds on a higher-end collectible. That being said, I admit there's a market for these large sets among LEGO enthusiast; just not for me. I'm taking this one off my shopping list for 2010. Ironically, after my rant about the large size of the Shuttle, I feel the AT-AT is too small. Though I'll probably end up getting it anyway -- I have a soft spot for AT-ATs I'm staying away from the ISD -- trying to avoid double-dipping in the midi-scale sets. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) I've been hoping since 1999 that TLG would produce a UCS Lambda Shuttle, so I'm pleased. Even better, it can accommodate minifigs. That said, the nose of the thing looks a bit too long and pointy. May just be the perspective. The wings, like its system scale predecessor, don't appear to rotate down to as steep an angle as the movie version (plenty of reference pics on the net for comparison). Just as a personal note, I'd have liked it if they modeled the cockpit/nose after BaronSat's UCS moc. Although I have 3 of the original AT-AT sets, I'll be picking up at least one copy of the new model. I hope TLG resisted the urge to use primary colored parts in the model that show through the plating like in the original, and I really hope they managed to have two pilots, even if they are seated one slightly behind the other like in the upcoming Space Shuttle set. Given that this is a smaller scaled model than the original, however, my hopes are not high. I still wonder why they chose to put C3PO in an AT-AT set, esp when another snowtrooper, or perhaps a small probe droid would have been a better fit. I'll pick up the midi star destroyer just because. Midi-scale doesn't do much for me. They are little more than interesting paperweights, or nice parts packs. Edited June 12, 2010 by M'Kyuun Quote
Tarfful Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Hey all, long time no post... anywhat~ Thought I'd share a pic of the overpriced Imperial behemoth I found that apparent;y hasn't been posted as of yet... | Tarfful, who really is debating a name change, it's not as if anybody recognizes me anyway... DutchRebel Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Sheesh, excuse us for being excited about a set. Please be excited! I am too, VERY much! I just didn't want people to get deaper into another UCS model yes/no discussion. Quote

Tarfful Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 *Sigh* That has been posted- about tenty times. Next time make sure your post isn't worthy of a facepalm.Yeah, I know. That's why I edited my post shortly after posting it... I just didn't get why we're using the tiny box shot when we have a much larger and henceforth more detailed pic of 8129. Anywhat, more-so on the topic at hand, 10212 looks fabulous and has quite a fair price to piece ratio as well. Mos def my favorite upcoming Star Wars set. What would have made it absolutely perfect was if it came with the Endor task-force of Han, Chewie, Leia, Luke, R2-D2, C-3PO, and a few Rebel soldiers in Endor garb instead of the somewhat bland assortment of figures... but hey, there's always something to complain about. ;P| Tarfful, who can't wait to see what else is in store for us this year set-wise... | Quote

Aeroeza Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Yep! I'm a happy man. That shuttle rocks and at last the long wait for the UCS enthusiast is over. Its great to see TLC being inspired by MOCs (as well as MOCs inspiring one another) especially when the result is as impressive as what we see with 10212. It makes for a dynamic building community and keeps 'the brick' alive! Well done anyone who can see a touch of their own building solutions in this beautiful sculptural piece. Fingers crossed for an AT-AT of the same scale and MOCer pedigree in the not so distant future. So thank you Lego designers and thank you MOCers. I can't wait to walk in your footsteps and build this stunning set! Quote

cavegod Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) been doing some measurements between mine and 10212 and as far as i can tell the wings are the same size (10 2x3x1 slopes) and the dorsal fin is the same also, obviously the cockpit is the same from the pics we can see but they have made the neck and the body more accurate, just need to see the back and the underside. i can see 2 stickers though Edited June 13, 2010 by cavegod Quote
The Eye Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Very nice looking set, and thanks for the pictures! It doesn't look flimsy to me, and despite the two stickers, I love it. Won't be able to get it, but it's possible to love something you can't have nowadays. Just wondering, is anyone else a fan of the MIDI-SCALE sets? I loved the falcon, and I'm hoping to get the destroyer too. Quote
