I wan't it !

Dam it's AWESOME - perfect to go with my Battle Of Endor set !

I'll bet for us in the land of Oz, it will be a Kmart Exclusive - they always end up with one or two big SW sets a year.

I'm a conformist! everyone ! :sweet:

More pix of the back, details and features on:

One critical note: landing gear seems to be separate. That's a pity.

Hmmmm and no hatch under the cockpit to enter the back of the ship.....

Wow those sure are some very high resolution pics that FBTB got their hands on

I've copied them from the flickr link and added them to the 2010 News Gallery.

Congrats to FBTB for getting those pics

Hmmm. It's alright, after hearing they were doing a UCS Imperial Shuttle I thought I would HAVE to buy it but after seeing it I am not sure, especially with that price tag, it should be 180 tops!!!!!!

2500 pieces for $260 US sounds like a very good parts to price ratio to me. Especially with how far off the mythical $0.10/part ratio the recent sets have been. UCS sets have always been large and expensive. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. But the price is more than fair.

And to re-iterate what I said a few days ago:

ME WANT!!!

Looks amazing. But what is more amazing is the fact it holds less people than the old system one. This is a pure display thing and I was afraid of that when I heard of it for the first time.

I am sorry, but I rather play with my things and I cannot even get an Endor crew into this thing. I would have prefered a bigger system one, cause I can buy lots and lots of playthings for that money rather than having a dust-collector. No offense though and I understand why you guys freak out. Just not my tea.

I'm going to have to agree with Zzz up there and say that as good as this model looks, I really don't like sets purposed for only display. If it had an interior in the back, this would be amazing, but as is, it simply isn't worth it for me.

It looks AMAZING from the outside... but after seeing the inside of the cockpit and how it can hold all 4 figs it doesn't seem like there will be anything in the actual middle of the shuttle... Great outside, not so great inside.

Its definitely beautiful but I dont think this will take priority over any other set though just because its huge. I not usually collect USC cause it cost heaps. Its great to see the chrome lightsabres back and I hope they keep on using them for next years sets. The cockpit is really cool and its great to see it holds four people. Although its disappointing you cant have your landing gear on and have it on the stand.

I agree- I was dissapointed when they changed and went for the dull blew sabers- I didn't understand it, and I still don't The grey-ish chrome was a step in the right direction, but I hope they return them for good soon.

This looks stunningly amazing! If only I can afford this one, I would want to get this. But still, it looks great for display, this will be a must-have for the rich collectors out there.

With the amount of chroming and new molds TLG's been doing lately, you'd think they could at least fix the minor problems. I'm hoping the use of chrome 'saber hilts uses up enough of the budgeted money to make flick-fire missiles too expensive.

Well I guess, to each his own. Some get LEGO sets for display (AFOL), while others play with it (kids). If I had the chance to get this one, it would only be for display purposes, because I think it would be impossible to play with this one just because of the sheer size and weight of the ship.

Dmac's statement about shuttle:

Dear Eurobricks users,

This is dmac speaking, courtesy of Mr Backbone of LUGPol.

You know, about that imperial shuttle of mine...

1) I began working on my shuttle in 2004. In 2007 I took the finished model to my friend, a LEGO designer in Billund - some of you may know him as Misterzumbi - and a bunch of his friends. As it happens, they were the Star Wars team, responsible for all the SW LEGO models we love so much. It seemed that my work was well appreciated but nothing happened.

2) I was surprised when 18 months ago Misterzumbi asked me, without any further explanation, to sign a "Declaration of secrecy". I signed. As it turned out, he was chosen to build a UCS version of the Lambda Shuttle and encountered a serious problem: certain sections of the ship, as he'd put it, "could not be done any better" than in my model. However, being a great friend, he also said: "I'm not going to use your ideas if it's not OK with you." He did not have to do it - according to company's lawyers, copying the model without my permission would be perfectly legal (however morally questionable), since SW copryrights belong to Mr Lucas and my model already was, in a way, a public domain.

And guess what - I agreed happily. Never even thought of demanding money. To me, sharing my ideas with Misterzumbi was as close to being a LEGO designer as it gets. So I'm happy and proud. Wouldn't you be?

3) In fact, our models are far from being identical. Similarities, however obvious, do not exceed some 25% of the entire model. Landing gear is different, parts of the hull are different, guns are different, the guts are different (no electric motors in the official model, for example). That's why I'm talking about "Misterzumbi using some of my ideas". The 10212 model is, in fact, HIS. And it's great. Some even say it is better than mine :) .

4) It is a matter of days, I suppose, before you all see an official Internet advertisement (or rather a short movie starring Misterzumbi ;) ) and learn a lot more about the new set and how exactly it came to exist - if only this part doesn't get cut. Judging by your response to the recent pictures, you will enjoy it just as much as I enjoy having a small input to the work of art called 10212.

Yours truly,

dmac

I found something

Awesome. Thats both a cool interview, and an explination to a few things. Worth a watch. Cheers for that. I  this thing!

Thanks for sharing dmac's statement backbone. At least now we know how he feels about this shuttle. As a fan, I have deep respect for dmac simply for his impressive MOCing skills. But now, I even respect him more for being such a classy guy, being positive in all of this situation.

It's an amazing set, looks just like it should and is all I could ask for but the price is just a killer for me £260!

WTF This thing has 2500 pieces and the price tag is $260. That is one of the best values we have ever had. If you don't like the design fine, but don't hate it because of the price, that's absurd.

Best value?! If I throw in another £20 I could by 2 Imperial Flag ships, I know there's always a premium on Star Wars sets but compared with the Emporium set basically I'm handing over £120 for the privallage of a Star Wars set.
