Anio Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) i also think they could have built the wings with 3 hinges, i think it will get modded almost as soon as it is built! What do you mean ? first mod will be replacing these with these Hum. IMO, it is nice to see studs on the model. :) Edited June 21, 2010 by Anio Quote
cavegod Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 What do you mean ? Hum. IMO, it is nice to see studs on the model. :) i mean that 10212 has only two hinges per wing where as the studio model had 2 at the rear and 1 near the front. Quote
YavinBase Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Based on DutchRebel's post, it appears that there could be 1X2 modified plates with click hinges (circled in red in the photograph) And it is possible that this is independent of the floor of the cockpit, meaning that there is the cockpit floor, and then the ramp. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 That's if you Modded it to have a boarding ramp or attached landing gear, since right now it has neither. The landing gear is a separate chunk that you can attach when you want it. The bottom of the cockpit is made of inverted wedge bricks, so you fit in a set of plates for the cockpit floor, a set of plates for the boarding ramp, and a row of tiles in-between. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Why did they have to make this thing so hard to MOC . As in it's hard to beat? Hard to build? Or did you mean to type 'hard to MOD'? Quote
Derek Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 As in it's hard to beat? Hard to build? Probably meant hard to build with your own pieces instead of buying the set... Quote
marshal_banana Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hey Guys. I really love this UCS-Shuttle! I never taught that TLC brings us a snot-model like this! It is a fantastic basic set for modding. I really can imagine something like that: There is a lot of space for an interior and I also thing, that it's possible to add a boarding ramp and maybe also backlights. I cant wait for this. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 As in it's hard to beat? Hard to build? Or did you mean to type 'hard to MOD'? Ooops. Yeah- MOD. Quote

Nope! Wishful thinking there I'm sorry to say. A functional ramp would have been advertised as a feature of the model. Quote
Special K Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Dont know if this has been asked but will the inside (Besides the cockpit) be furnished or empty? Quote
Aeroeza Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Dont know if this has been asked but will the inside (Besides the cockpit) be furnished or empty? Sorry to say, but if you hold the shuttle up to your ear you'll hear only the sound of a very distant and somewhat calm ocean. So no, not a plasma TV or coffee cup holder in sight for any minifigs in need of transportation.... Quote

Aeroeza Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 S@H has the Shuttle up for release on September 3rd! Which I might add happens to be my birthday!! (So I guess TLC heard me whinging about the lack of UCS' for the last two years). Happy Birthday to me!! Quote
OneSnowTrooper Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) Weird that they already put it on S&H while other, earlier, sets are still nowhere to be seen (Palpatine shuttle, cad bane speeder, etc) Also no instructions for the shuttle yet. (they do list the instructions for Palpatine's Shuttle, Slave I, etc but not Cad Bane's Speeder I noticed) Edited June 23, 2010 by OneSnowTrooper Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 maybe also backlights. Good idea. LifeLites should easily fit inside. The only challenge would be the little yellow lights on the wing and tail tips. Those would require some internal modification to the bricks themselves, I believe. Quote
CMP Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I don't get why everyone's turning down Cad Bane's Speeder. It's one of the very few mid-atmospheric vehicles, it's generic, so it has a hundred uses, and it's got cool figs. I think it's worth a good $50. Quote

-JD- Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Two words: Clone Wars Two words: Senate Commandos Would it be possible to add an interior to the main section without destroying the structure, thus causing the ship to collapse? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Would it be possible to add an interior to the main section without destroying the structure, thus causing the ship to collapse? Based on the size and the MF, I'd assume so. Quote
CMP Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Two words: Clone Wars The figs? I don't see what's not good about 2 badass bounty hunters and 2 senate commandos. Quote
Smack Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 I personally like the speeder set and will be making a purchase. I mean it is a different set than what we usually get from Lego as far as Star Wars goes. Besides, it is a cheaper alternative to get Commandos and Cad Bane as opposed to the Venator and Turbo Tank. Nobrux Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) S&H: 10212 coming soon on 1 Sep 2010! 2 days earlier :) Edited June 25, 2010 by Nobrux Quote

I agree, this is the best way to get Cad Bane and the Senate Commandos without getting those expensive sets. I think most people, myself included, will buy this set solely for the minifigs. This is like the Swamp Speeder set, which people bought just for Barriss. But what might tick-off people is if ever TLG decides to release Bane and the Commandos in a magnet set, this set will become irrelevant. Edited June 25, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
