CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) I think a new Han Solo in carbonite and new Boba Fett is very likely. So is getting Aayla Is that in the Clone Turbo Tank? If it is, then, I KNEW IT!!!! Sounds exciting. I knew, like the ARC-170, it would be improved, but I don't know if it has been enough to make it worthwhile getting the new version. As more of a ground vehicle fan, I don't think I'll be getting the ARC-170, but the CTT is certainly a possibility.EDIT: I suppose two new Jedi means no new clone commanders? A good ground force cannot withstand the battle without air support! Yeah mate, thanks Ras! BTW, I'm back. Don't ask where I've been! EDIT: Sorry, but has there been any really good photos or screenshots of the battlepacks? I can't take all day looking through it, but if you have the link... Cardinal Brick Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 \i love the look of the TIE defender it's the only one in this wavw I'm really intrested in, but I dread to think what the UK price for it's going to be! Quote
RileyC Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 they all look so incredible awesome find Pi! Freeco speeder - the minifigs look great especially Thi-sen his head looks really well done. great job lego! However I am skeptical about the printed insignia on Anakin's hood. It looks great but in the Clone walker battle pack the insignia didnt turn out that well on the gunner's helmet. I just hope they have improved their method of applying it on. The ship looks very sleek especially the cockpit that piece does look great and so does the same piece but in white behind it. It does look like there is a lot of stickers to put on though... Droid Tri Fighter - I am so glad it didnt come with buzz droids! The ship looks great I love the colours especially the black in the dark blue it looks great. The printed Rocket droid commander didnt really needed to be added in my opinion. Sure, it gives the set more appeal but I think the set would have been fine with out him. TIE Defender - Its a great looking ship but not for my taste (im not an EU fan). What I really love about this though is the new pilot helmet, it looks incredible. I like the ridge at the top, it really looks like it does in the movies. ARC 170 - Ship looks really good and great improvements on the last one. What impresses me is the droid though. The grey and green go really great together. Still its hard to see how the pilots helmets really look like though which is a bit annoying for me. Cant wait to get these and be able to see them up close and personal! Quote
DarthSion Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I really like that speeder, the Tolz looks good. Quote
Strand Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Love the new ARC-170, though I would have preferred them have 3 clone pilots as opposed to Kit Fisto +2. I love how these ones have the correct visor helmet, and would have loved to get 3 for a complete crew. I still prefer the split nose look of the original though Quote
Bobskink Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 That alien which comes with the 8085 Freeco Speeder is rather disapointing (if not the whole set) It has the wrong colours, really great camo in the snow and the thing they put on his head rules out the possibility to ever see this alien in an OT cantina scene. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Oh that Freeco Speeder set looks sweet, I'll be getting a few of those, the rest don't look that appealing, maybe the Arc 170 for the figs but I didn't buy the last one. I can't wait for the next round of pics to come out. Quote
pedro Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Greatv find Pi! My thoughts Freeco Speeder - Really like this! Very sleek, nice clean design. Maybe a little sticker heavy but they add a lot to it. And is that a 1 x 3 tile I spot under the windscreen? The talz figure is cool, be interesting to see an army of them! Multiple purchases ahoy! All we need now is cold weather Obi-Wan, clones, etc... Droid Tri-fighter - Looks really nice and solid; an improvement over the original but not vast. The rocket battle droids are what they are I guess, the commander doesn't necessarily make it a seller. I agree with Mr. Mandalorian that printed markings would've been better suited to the tan BD's who make up the vast majority of our CIS armies... Tie Defender - Nice to see more TIEs in shades of bley - gives me hope for a new standard TIE fighter. The Defender itself is pretty cool, I prefer the Interceptor though. The new TIE pilot is cool his helmet looks great and adds that extra level of authenticity. I suspect it might be at a higher price point which means for me it'll come second to other purchases. ARC-170 - Every time I look at this I'm feeling that bit more sold on it! I've been resisting due to owning the original, but this version does look that bit better, more sleek and solid looking; and it comes with those great new figs. Absolute agreement that it should've been 3 clone pilots, but then we might get more in a battlepack someday. Quote
KimT Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 Yes, indeed it is. New 2x4 tile and 1x3 tile. Quote
pedro Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Yes, indeed it is.New 2x4 tile and 1x3 tile. Good news everybody! Excellent, glad to hear it! Additionally I noticed that the head on the R2 unit (in the ARC-170) appears to be metallic silver? Don't kmow if that's been mentioned before. Edited November 17, 2009 by pedro Quote
Big Cam Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Excellent, glad to hear it! Additionally I noticed that the head on the R2 unit (in the ARC-170) appears to be metallic silver? Don't kmow if that's been mentioned before. To me it looks like the grey one from the previous CW sets, not metallic. Quote
Ras 74 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Nice to finally find clearer pics of the Januari sets! The ARC pic could have been just a bit bigger though. I think they all looks great, and I will definatley get at least one of each. As I said before, when I saw the Freeco in CW I thought that one I should give a try at building. Now I don´t have to. The only I am not so keen on is the TIE. Since I am not a EU guy. Still I will get me a copy of it... The collector thing still sticks to me. Quote
Commander_Rob Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Good sets, all of them. And congratulations to Pi for finding them! On the individual sets: Freeco Speeder: Pretty cool overall (bad pun, I know ), but boring figs. Snow clones would have been so much more appealing. Tri Fighter: I like it. Bigger, more accurate than the old one. Droid commander is nice. Tie Defender: Nice, wings seem to be a bit big in relation to the size of the cockpit though. Looks like a solid construction, good basis for a TIE Phantom. ARC-170: Nice too. But the wing construction, among other things, looks too much like the old one. Guns and front are beefed up though, which is good. As are the new printed canopies and the figs, the astromech seems to have green printing. Not sure wether the dome is silver though. Quote
MadAboutLego Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 oh ye check the droid one out it looks brilliant going to get that Quote
Penitent Tangent Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Love the new ARC-170, though I would have preferred them have 3 clone pilots as opposed to Kit Fisto +2. I love how these ones have the correct visor helmet, and would have loved to get 3 for a complete crew. I still prefer the split nose look of the original though Samey mini-figs tend to ruin sets, or at least make them much less appealing to many. Look at the AT-OT set, I think it's fantastic but 8 clones..? It's not like people are going to buy these sets as army builders and even just one Jedi mini-fig would have made it much better, in my opinion. And it's the same here, without the Kit Fisto, I'd be much more hesitant to buy it. (even if these new pilots are very cool). I love all these sets though, sans the Tie Defender (simply for it being from the EU) but it still looks like a pretty nice set. Looking forward to seeing the battle packs and the Landspeeder though, which is actually a bit disappointing because those are the ones I'm looking forward to the most. I'm a bit concerned about the price is going to be for the ARC fighter in the UK.. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Wow, thanks for the new pics. I suppose the sets look all right. I'm most interested in the Freeco Speeder and ARC-170. IMO the Freeco Speeder look way oversized. OK I guess the last time I saw one was last season on the CW TV sieges but I think it just looks huge. The new moulded head looks good too though. As for the ARC I'm still not sure it it's CW or ROTS. in the amazon description it says Super vehicle - Starfighter, seen in Episode III. The fig selection is average I suppose, I already have a KIt so I wont be getting it for that. However the new Clone helmets look great. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Besides the Freeco Speeder, I don't think I'll get any of them. (more money for battle packs) The droid fighter has been done before and was a lame ship to begin with (IMO) Plus who doesn't have a million droids already, they are also poorly designed so there is no need for them in my collection, even if they are ina cooler copper color. The tie defender is just a bad ship to make, it looks like it stole it's wings from the rogue shadow and LEGO already did that one, so why not a real Tie Fighter. The Arc-170 looks good and I didn't get the last one but dang, it's probably going to be $50-60 and for what you get I don't think it's worth it. All of this is of course my opinion and I'm sure most won't agree with me. Quote
-JD- Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Fabulous find Pie! The Freeco looks fantastic! I will definitely be having two or more of that. Thi-Sen or whoever it is looks great too! Do I spot a new face for Anakin? The ARC looks as good as before, but where is the Astro Droid on the minifigure section? The Defender looks superb! I like the new design for the TIE Pilot, but it is a shame to see the old one go. And last but not least, MY GOODNESS IT IS A PRINTED TORSO AND HEAD! Seriously, I am very happy with LEGO for finally stopping the annoying one colour torsos and going back to the originals! The Commander looks sweet, as does the Tri-Fighter. Thanks again, now I know what to save up for. Edited November 17, 2009 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 The new sets look great!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Darth Legolas Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) On the CW thing, I've been wronged! Unless of course, because the Defender and the battlepacks (which we don't have pictures of for some reason...) all have the CW label, it is PT! Except of course.. the droid...which I pointed out... Everything else, I was more than right! In the new picture of the Defender, it looks kind of scanty, but oh well. Please note that the Tri-Fighter has a big ugly bar going under it's bottom wings so it can fire missiles. EDIT: We can now clearly see, they are "Captain Jag and Clone Pilot." Edited November 17, 2009 by Darth Legolas Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Well, I know none of you are going to agree with me but... I'm really disappointed. The freeco speeder has great figs and I love the streamline shape, but it just doesn't have the right feel to it... like a cross between minifig and midi scale. Good details, but not enough pieces for the price (then again, like all clone wars...). The Tri-fighter looks better than we all gave it credit for. The new fig is great, and they made some great improvements... except why is one of the panels on it black? The Arc-170 is amazing, I must say, and it would immediately be one of my favorite sets except for the piece/price ratio!!!!!! The Tie Defender is the biggest disappointment. It also has a terrible piece/price ratio, and it's too brick-built... not enough slopes. It's sort of ugly. Of course, I'll still be getting all of these because I'm a sucker for new figs. Quote
JCC1004 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 ARC- Looks a lot better then the prelim. The nose is a lot better and it has some nice details. The figs look awesome especially the astromech. I also love the fact that it could be PT! This is a must buy for me even though it's way over priced. Freeco- The Talz creature looks cool and not cartoonish. It doesn't look like the feathers are removable. Anakin looks okay. I like his hood but I can't see much torso detail. The vehicle itself isn't bad. Tri-Droid- Meh, it's okay. It looks a lot better then the previous version. I might get it, it's not over priced. KimT label it PT even though it includes CW figs. It does look like TLG is redoing some PT set from 06. It'd be a good enemy for the ARC. TIE Defender- Well, it's not that great. The way the wings are attached makes the ship look worse. I will not be getting it. On the bright side it looks like the new Imperial helmets are shrunk down. Quote
prateek Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 These new sets don't really impress me at all. The old ARC-170 looked way better except the pilots. The only set that look somewhat interesting is the Freeco Bike for the alien. Quote

YG-49 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Do I spot a new face for Anakin? YES! On the Freeco! The old ice-pick pieces. And is that a Republic insignia printed on the hood? Great! Also worth note is that Anakin isn't smiling! If you look closely, he has a serious expression on his face! Quote
