ADHO15 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Malevolence is f***ing good Thanks for that. Maybe you could write what you like about it instead of writing something pointless like that. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It would be a lot less money and effort on LEGO's part to just release that and not have to design a cave. A set with a Hoth Luke, a wampa and a tauntaun; it'll easily anyway, cave or not. I believe that you are right about it being less effort and people would buy it anyway, but do you really think that TLG would release a set with only 1 fig and 2 animals? I'm all for it, but I doubt that TLG would do something like that. Quote

I'm all for it, but I doubt that TLG would do something like that. Probably not, but as I said, people would buy it anyway, so they don't need to put much effort in. Even if it was the cave, the only fig would be Luke, or maybe a skeleton as well. They might throw a couple of rebels in, but they don't need to. If the price is low, they wouldn't need to put loads of figs in. The one would do. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I agree. Although I personally would like the set better if it included the cave. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 1. I don't want to make someone implausible and surely even not angry - but ow sure can you be that his friend has such a good memory and is familiar with SW so he knows the vehicles? He collects LEGO Star Wars too and I can imagine that anybody can keep something that little in his memory. 2. I haven't heard, read and seen yet anything similar to the speeder bike but which looks nevertheless different. Have you? I can't remember TLG has been releasing any SW vehicle - even not as promo - which doesn't exist in the movies. LEGO released the Rogue Shadow (based on the TFU game), TIE Crawler (from Crimson Empire Comics) and TX-130s Clone Trooper Tank (from various comics and the Battlefront games). Also every main building of the battlepacks is based on designers imagination. Apart from that you can't know whether this info is right or wrong anyway. It sounds a bit unrealistic to me that you get a small promo set - even with a minifig included - already when you buy something for "only" 20 Euros. Chrome Darth Vader was also available with a purchase of only 20 Euros. I think the process to put chrome on the figure makes the same cost as producing 20 pieces. Besides, it somehow reminds me on other City promo sets. Quote
Colonel Bulstrode Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 There was a lot of little easter eggs like that in it. Thats the brilliant things about movies like that you have to look at everything. I think the biggest hint is rockinkurt13 seeing the prelim boxes I can't find that post, can you direct me. -The Colonel Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I think this is what you want Bulstrode: Hey guys, it's rockinkurt, the one who told you guys of the minifigs for the slave 1.I now can tell you that palpatine's shuttle, ARC, GG's starfighter, clone turbo tank, and maybe <wink> plo's startfighter are all Episode 3. Hope this helped you. Quote
Tim Bit Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Episode 3 eh... I'm not sure about everyone else but I personally would prefer clone wars. I have sold a lot of my episode 3 troopers and bought phase I's. However all of them still sound promising. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 The best thing about Ep. III returning is the hope for clone commanders! (i.e. cody, bly, bacara, gree, appo, thire, neyo,...) Quote
Faramir Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Hate to be one of those skeptics, but I'm actually really doubting the Malevolence :\ The whole scale of it just looks completely off to me. Too big for Midi-Scale, too small for system. Just take a look, the entire right side is extremely thin, barely the height of a Minifig, from what I can estimate from the size of the pegs that cover it. Practically looks like TLC looked at this pic and whipped up a quick lego version (not very accurate too, when you compare them.) Quote
Commander Flash Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 We don't really know what midi scale is based on, as we have only had one. The model of it could easily be midi scale, as it is a large ship and detailed. They base it on how big the ship is, and the features needed. I am not saying it will be a set just because it was on a video. Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Someone mentioned earlier that they had seen some preliminary pictures... I don't want to be the person who angers eurobricks or Lego, but could someone post a link? If you can't or this has already been discussed (I don't want to read the ENTIRE eleven pages) then pplease ignore me. I was SO excited when the Malevolence showed up on The Quest for R2... but a closer look made me want to . I don't know what TLC is going for here! I don't think they will fit minigigs, and if it's midi scale then not only is it ugly and disproportionate but quite useless in a Separatist army. Quote

(or have the prelim stamp on them... or whatever.) The main reason is that the person who let him see them could get in serious trouble, or fired. Quote

I am not saying it will be a set just because it was on a video. From what I can gather, the whole point of the Midi-Scale Falcon was to compensate for the lack of minifigs with detail, sturdiness, and swooshability, things system scale large ships usually do not have. The malevolence pictured looks to about about twice the length of the Midi Falcon, not especially detailed, and... well, hard to swoosh. I just don't see it. Quote

Derek Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Why are you all just plain trashing the Malevolence model from the movie? I don't think that we are getting it as a set, and even if we eventually do, that one was probably just whipped up for the movie, without any real thought. Everyone take a deep breath and calm down. I'm hoping for pictures soon so we have something else to talk about. -darthperson Quote
Omicron Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 So next year is just old sets in new pieces? Lame. :P -Omi Quote
Raphy Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I agree with Omi, just old sets with new parts. however, I've never got any of the old ones so I can't complain :P Quote
DutchRebel Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Okay guys, I'd like to throw in a thought considering the Slave I discussion: I'm not the kind of guy who reads everything about Star wars, so I don't know nothing about EU or CW. But I read on wookiepedia that Boba Fett wears his fathers armour during the Clone Wars. So it could be that we get Boba's Slave I but that he looks like Jango... are you still following me? There 's also a Mandalorian featuring the new Clone Wars trailer. He kinda looks like Jango but with the cool Mandalorian logo on his helmet... Could this be Boba Fett Clone wars style?? Maybe some 'real' Star Wars professors can shine their light on this issue... DR Quote

If it is set during the early Clone Wars, Boba's armour and ship wouldn't be green, so he might still look like Jango. He paints the armour during the Clone Wars, so we don't know yet. I know Bossk's set to be included in the series and in this set. I don't know who else will be in this Slave I, though. If Han's in it, that would mean it's not CW-set.
