Oky Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 One thing the ARC picture does confirm is that the heads are reversible, as both pilots have the orange visor. Figured they would be, but it's nice to have it confirmed. How does this one pic confirm anything? As far as we know, they could have just used a different head in the prelim pic where the one pilot didn't have a visor. However, it would be great if it were that way! People you are forgetting that something new about this ARC is that the cockpits are Printed!Also is that piece on the front-nose a new piece? Actually, I bet those are stickers. And no, the piece on the nose is the same 1x3 curved piece we have had for years. I predict an R2D2 with a shiny head in the near future. That would be awesome! I have been waiting for that ever since the R2 fig came out! BTW do any of you think the cockpits in the ARC will be These new pieces? Yes, if you zoom in, you can see that it is that piece. I think the thing that most bums me out is the SQUARE front on the windshields. It might help with gripping, but it looks really ugly. I don't think they're supposed to be windows, are they? Oh well. The thing I'm worried about is that they're using the same part as last time for the angle next to the 2nd and 3rd cockpits- does anyone else remember the giant hole underneath those that you could see the pilot's legs in? But you know what's most annoying? Kit has light grey hands. Quote

It doesn't bother me all that much. To me, it doesn't matter if it is studs or these smooth surfaces that show in front of the piece, but since this helps with grip and looks smooth, I actually prefer these. I don't think they're supposed to be windows, are they? I'm not 100% sure on that either, but they were trans-black on the old ARC. But you know what's most annoying? Kit has light grey hands. Interesting observation. Perhaps he is supposed to have gloves on, like Plo Koon? Quote

Much better than the old one IMO. It actually has a mouth print, too! Those new minifigs in the ARC-170 are spectacular! I love the different helmet prints, and it's good to know that the minifig heads are reversible! R4-P44 is looking interesting, too with the dark green and silver head! And the engines, although I applauded them before, look almost comical. It's a nice looking set, but I feel that it just isn't as realistic as the old version. The Defender has nothing new to offer at all, except the minifigures, it seems. What do you mean? This has been one of the most wanted OT vehicles of all time- the whole set is new! It might help with gripping, but it looks really ugly. I agree, they really take away from the aerodynamic look of the windshield piece, especially if you can't cover that part up. But on the other hand, I'll be glad to not have to put them back on every five seconds when they fall off. I think it's the best that could be done, except for making the new part a flat, square tile instead of a raised, rounded one. I don't think they're supposed to be windows, are they? Oh well. There were printed trans-black windows in the first one. Cool piece, but I didn't like them in the set since you could see the pilot's legs and arms through them. Not very good for protection, are they? But you know what's most annoying? Kit has light grey hands. You're right, I didn't notice that before. I wonder why they did this... perhaps since they will stop producing orcs after the Fantasy line is done? Quote

And the engines in the first one looked too.. runty and had ugly spaces everywhere. The engines here are much beefier and awesome. Quote

The nose with that light is one point. I would like it more to be one smooth part. The Defender I don´t really know what to think of. It looks great, but does nothing for me really. And Kits hands are quite annoying. I am lucky enough to have 2 of the old Kit, and his green hands look great. Why did they change? Note that captain Jag and the generic pilot have different torso's The latest picture of the arc however shows the 2 pilots with the same torso. perhaps this is an older pic? Or newer for that matter, but i'd like to think jag and the pilot have different torso's. And therefore fisto should have green hands (which only makes sense). Sadly, I believe the cockpit's of the arc are not printed. Recently TLC only printed either two things: 1 generic common in multiple set used items (controls, computer screens etc) 2 stuff that's impossible to sticker decently yourself (the printed cockpit of the blockade runner, curved slopes etc). Now the arc cockpit's image is only on the back (round but straight) part of the cockpit (instead of the curved front) which makes it easy to put a sticker on there yourself. And perhaps more importantly the first cockpit is different than the last two. Would they be printed I expect TLC to just make 3 similar ones. Doesn't make me love it less though, there are a lot of subtle improvements over the last one that make such a big difference. Quote

I am pretty sure about that but I am not sure whether any of you posted about it before. Go the ARC-170, awesome pilots! I assume that's only because it's too awkward of a shape for a sticker, though. Some cockpits do have printing, such as the TIEs, Jedi starfighter (Ep. III) and the X-wing. I can't see them printing three cockpits with two different prints. Quote
