Righteous Squid Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 This mech moc is an evolution of Lego’s Titan alternative model, several stages removed. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Very nice mech 'Righteous Squid' - decals and weapons are COOL, and that colour red - very nice ! I'll show this to a friend of mine who's a Mechwarrior nutcase and see what he thinks, I'll let you know. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
ProducePrincess Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The cockpit is nicely done and looks like it can fit a full interior. If i built this the legs would be bigger and more chunky. Quote
LuxorV Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Neat mech, Righteous Squid. I immediately recognised the similarity with Grand Titan's alternate, but the modifications are evident, too. My favourite part is the cockpit, since it's totally enclosed and very well armoured; a great advancement when compared with the original design. The legs look indeed a bit too 'skinny', but you probably had limited parts choice? Quote

Thanks Black Rabbit, thanks LuxorV The cockpit was my focus of attention and is pretty spacious - room for two figs and a few bits and bobs. The legs aren't a big priority for me to do any additional work on, but I do like to keep improving my MOCs and I would add more to if I get the right parts, (but not much more), and yes, I don't have a great range of red parts that aren't commited to other projects. I'm happy with the lower leg and the upper leg is awkward to bulk out owing to the fact there can be only one pin fitted. The other reason is functionality as one will lose movement range if too much is added. This Mech is also supposed to be a fairly fast one. I do hope to do a larger, more heavily armoured heavy weapons mech in the future. Just for interests sake here is the origional Lego version and an intermediate stage or 'missing link'. Quote
ProducePrincess Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Two of These would work well for making the legs wider and they are also a pretty common part now. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Another great mech Righteous Squid! The red color looks really very good, plus the custom decals are nice additional details. Great job once again! Quote
Batbrick Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Amazing creation Righteous Squid, though from you that's hardly surprising! The enclosed cockpit with fair space is my favourite part, but the smaller arms and poseable legs also look fantastic. I can't really find fault in it, it looks a little similar to the Organimech design I made a few years back, except, y'know, good The level of detail really adds authenticity to the mech look as well, from the little bits at the back to the piping to the arm guns, it all really works together. Batbrick Away! Quote

They are common but also very useful and sadly I never have enough. Another great mech Righteous Squid! The red color looks really very good, plus the custom decals are nice additional details. Great job once again! Thanks KielDaMan. The decals aren't custom though, but belong to the original Titan mech from which this mech evolved. Batbrick Away! Thanks Batbrick. You can of course compare with the earlier version and see that I only achieved a reasonable standard of mech by continually evolving and experimenting with some rather suspect attempts. I stumbled upon this style of mech accidently as I tried to use up those somewhat cumbersome windscreens and found them to be perfect for mechs (if you recall my Batmech). Also changing the alignment of the large curved red panels was a moment of inspiration that I thought wouldn't work but happened to compliment the curve of the windscreen very well. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 PLEASE tell me someone already made an ED-209 from Robocop using this as a base! Love it, looks like a big burly bruiser. Quote
