Defferwa Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) Is the Space Police III theme gone? Is this their last wave? What kind of sets do you think they could make, and what theme would you like to see after? I'd like to see a Criminal Hideout set. P.S What are the chances that all the aliens are crooks, and all the humans are good? I think Lego is racist to aliens. P.P.S I'm fairly new here, how do I post moc photos( I have 1 alien miniture, 2 Star Wars Vingettes, and many more)? Edited June 28, 2010 by Defferwa Quote
ProducePrincess Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I don't know if space police is finished but they just came out with another wave of sets and the theme from the looks of it seems to be doing well. I personally hope the theme fails and we get a better space theme , something like a cross of mars mission and classic space. Quote
M:tron engineer Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Why would you like to se SP III line failed? Are sets not good enough? Wrong color scheme? Not traditional enough(well i agree on this one though)? Im sure that sales numbers will deceide what will be the future of SP III line. I Vote for return of Blacktron (first one) or Mtrons, but please dont screw up fantastic predecesors(i own entire Mtron line, and it took me quite some time to gather all sets). Quote

I think its failed because I've seen like NO Space police sets in the UK in any shops. I really don't think if they don't sell it, its gonna magically sell itself and make profit. No, They should scrap Space Police completely and restart Pirates. Quote
Marckeyh Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I think it's just a 2 year theme like agents etc... I don't like it much myself and would like to see a new 'classic' space theme. Quote
Defferwa Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 I really like the parts and acessories, like the trans red/blue, the fire, the Halo helmets, and the aliens are very unique. Also, the design of some of the ships engines are very well done. Quote

I find the sets aren't good enough to actually make me want to buy them. The idea of it is intresting but not put out well enough. Black tron or M tron would be good if they didn't have a set adversary.I'd like the theme to just be blacktron ships. I really like the parts and acessories, like the trans red/blue, the fire, the Halo helmets, and the aliens are very unique. Also, the design of some of the ships engines are very well done. Thats all the theme is a parts pack. Engine designs from the first wave were quite nice though. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I think its failed because I've seen like NO Space police sets in the UK in any shops. I thought Space Police was a shop@home and brand store only line which was just going to start being rolled out to other stores this summer, I could be wrong in which case maybe there will be another wave as I can't see the point in trying to get them in stores now if you're not going to add anything new. vexorian Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Everyone has different tastes, I prefer space police to pirates or action or any other of the recent system themes, but if it gets scrapped I am not going to go around asking for other themes to get cancelled so that space police comes back. I think that the idea with two antagonist factions is not going away, I also think it is very successful because LEGO seems to have begun doing it in almost every system theme besides city. I think that as a kid it is much better this way. Because both factions can last for many seasons instead of one faction dying out before the other. (This was very annoying to me as a kid because I could get plenty of space police 2 but no blacktron 2 due to the time I started getting into LEGO.). It also gives kids more chances to play when they get a large set... Space police 3 is a very fun theme and it has improved in 2010. Ship designs are cooler and the commando police men really do look better (and are more reminiscent of SP 1). That said I do not know if it is going to stay, I just hope that if SP3 is scrapped it is replaced with at least another space theme. To be honest, exploration themes are not as attractive to me as the more action-driven factions that began after blacktron appeared. I would root for a civilian vs. criminal menace theme or maybe a theme with two neutral factions that each have their good share of weapons, similar to what castle is doing right now. Quote
ttoole73 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I love the SP3 line, and if this is the last year for it, then so be it. Like others I do hope that TLG gives us space folks something to take its place. I'm really liking the idea of a space civilian theme, I think it would do well. Quote
Sir Horace Barnes Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Am I the only one that is getting really tired of all these new themes getting cancelled after only about two or three waves? i.e. Agents, Vikings, Batman, (probably/possibly) Indiana Jones, etc. I wish they'd actually go the distance with these themes, especially Indiana Jones. It has so much potential; maybe not as much as Star Wars, but they could really milk a lot more out of it than they have. *back on topic* I think SPIII still has another wave, possibly two, in it. I hope so, at least. I've only picked up one or two sets, but I really want to grab some more. Quote

If you look at the history of space lego: what we now call classic space was just generic civilian "space" before subthemes/factions were introduced. The first space subtheme was Futuron, most of the sets were released in 1987&88 - and they were simply "modern" updated generic civilians, hardly a faction. No other subtheme since (until Space Police III) has had more than 3 sets released in more than 1 calendar year. There has also already been more SP3 sets released than most space factions in the past. What am I saying? It's fair enough to expect that SP3 is indeed "doneski". It is far more likely that next year will bring a new subtheme of space - a new (or reinvented) faction or two, that can sit alongside SP3. This is being discussed in another thread btw. Space Police 2010 pinned discussion in the Sci-Fi section. Quote
M:tron engineer Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Im not sure for rest of the europe, but i can assure that here where i live(slovenia) there is almost all SP III sets available to buy. But i do agree, that almost none space subtheme(BT,Mtron or spyrius/ice planet)had more than few sets per year...I do hope that they bring back one of old factions(new torsos from vilain shows "modern BT styling"), though i dont mind on even more civilian one too. And you'll be shocked to realise that your really not sarcastic! So don't bother trying! I said theres no SP3 in the UK in stores, Do you come from the UK? Have you seen any in stores around Surrey? I'm guessing its a bit NO, so read before you answer please. Quote

SP3 isn't available through 3rd party retailers in the UK. Last year, they were down as a Lego shop exclusive, only available from Lego.com or brand stores (not Legoland etc). This year is looking to be the same. I have been advised by several Lego Direct staff that SP3 should now be available across the country, but I doubt it. My enquiries have hit a dead end so far. I'm waiting to see if they show up in the Autumn/Winter 2010 Argos Catalogue. If not, I guess its another noshow. So far, all my SP3 sets have come from Lego.com or Bluewater. However, as has been pointed out, they are available throughout the rest of Europe and the US, so I'm sure they've sold well (well enough for Lego to produce new TV commercials for the 2010 wave, which can't be cheap). KurttKrueger Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 The Lunar Limo is one of my favourite sets released in this wave. Gotta love the huge stretch effect its got going on. Next pay day, that bad boy is mine! Quote
