TheWarden Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Most of my thoughts are already here. But for sake of volume: 1. Galidor if it counts. No need to debate this? 2. Roboforce. Had some okay pieces, but really ugly design. A lot of early LEGO mech design wasn't too hot, we know that, but many still look okay or at least interesting to a homage standpoint now - some of the classic space and Spyrus. Roboforce had the "robo-chicken" and a color scheme that wasn't even consistent through 4 sets... I did like the mini-figs though. 3. Mars Mission. I don't know why I don't like these. I actually like the white / orange color scheme. Maybe it was the useless jelly aliens? Maybe I wanted another classicy space theme instead of Mars Volume 2? I don't know. In hindsight now I wonder how much I like consistent color schemes... I bash RoboF for inconsistent scheme yet don't MM looks kinda boring - everything is either orange / white or lime green / black. Confused myself. Quote
vexorian Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) More spyrius droid ambiguity: I have one catalog in which an Ice planet chief is helping a spyrius droid escape from ice. I never saw anything that implied Unitron to be a "good guy" faction. Their purpose was unclear (they had lasers, as did most factions, and were never placed against Spyrius explicitly, whether as victims or as opponents), but they seemed to be a fairly independent faction. The main Unitron gimmick was the modular cockpit design which could be used with any of the sets-- hence the name's emphasis on unity. It wasn't much of a theme, partly because there were only four sets and the theme concept was hardly versatile (the modular cockpit design would begin to feel overused if it were placed in too many more sets). Still, it was an attractive and unique theme in its own right. Roboforce was indeed pretty lame, but it took LEGO an awfully long time to get a serious grasp on mecha sets. Throwbots, Galidor, and BIONICLE helped a great deal in that regard by increasing the number of joints which LEGO would begin to draw from for mecha in the future, such as the Titan XP Creator set and the Exo-Force theme. Yes, mechs were not perfected until recently. Even so, what's just wrong about Roboforce is that it is a regression in mecha quality. The theme came in 1997, but the designs are worse than stuff that was already. Somehow even this guy looks better, and he is from 10 years before Roboforce: Edited July 4, 2010 by vexorian Quote

I actually owned a 6940 - Alien Moon Stalker as a child and it was great! Quote
Hoboman Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 There is not a single line I hate nor love above all the others. The problem I have is that I have elements from each line I liked or disliked. I just finished reading this whole thread and find many folks raise particular issues regarding each line that are true. But to say what line is the worst? I just can't make up my mind. I think it would be more interesting to name the set you found the worst from the various space lines. Quote
Rook Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 The Ben 10 Theme seems to be pretty crappy. Prices are high and they don’t seem to be selling. Or TRU is keeping this section “more stocked” then any other. :D Quote
