Daniel Williams Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Hi, I just was curious does anyone like writing poems when they're bored or just in the mood? I wrote a poem, but wasn't sure if anyone would like it or not. It's entitled Lego is not just a toy... here it is... Lego is not just a toy To me, it’s a doorway A doorway to worlds Worlds that I can only imagine In my dreams and fantasies As I build scenes from bricks Bricks made of plastic They become more than just pieces of plastic They become what I want They become a ship of the line A city of happy wondering people Chatting together, telling their own individual stories A Lego minifigure is not just a small plastic part No, it’s a person like Barbie or GI Joe A minifigure is unique Unique in it’s a pirate on sailing across oceans Or a cop chasing down bad guys through the city Or a Jedi knight from a galaxy far away Or anything that the person dreams of Lego is not just a toy It is a wonderfully unique Ageless, timeless and ever changing dream Of every child who wishes to be taken To be taken on a journey Journey to worlds, times and places beyond Their reaches, yet they feel real That's most of it, I didn't know how to end it, so I stopped there, any comments or suggestions? Or does anyone else want to share poems that they wrote? Don't be shy, it would be awesome to read others poetry and to talk about it as well. Quote

Joey Lock Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Oh my dear Chantelle You make me feel so swell. I think about you everyday I cannot think about another way That I wouldn't be with you to say I love you my dear Chantelle Each and everyday I'm away It pains me to just to say I miss you But then I go think it through And I realise that I do love you Oh my dear, Chantelle. I hurts just to think you'll say "No" to me just some day Oh please my darling won't you say That I love you... I love you... I dreamt about your lovely smile As we were walking down the aisle The crowds of people all filled with glee I realised it was our family I love you... When I close my eyes and think of you, I know exactly what to do, To make you feel like an Angel You are lovely dear Chantelle, My love for you, Only god can tell!, Oh how I wish that I could just yell, That I love you! I love you more than time can tell, I love you my dear sweet Chantelle, You are the only thing to me, That makes me feel so happy, I wish I could embrace you now, And be there with you now somehow, We may live many miles away, But that is not going to stop me to say, That I love you... Whenever I think of you, I realise, how much I do love you. Your the greatest thing to me, Now if I could only be, With you right now, Right there somehow, To hold my arms around you, To tell you that its very true, I really love you. Oh, I love you. You are so wonderful, Dear Chantelle, From the heavens, you must have fell, For you are a true angel, From the Mountains I would yell, That I love you, my dear Chantelle. A long long love poem I wrote for my Girlfriend, She loved it! I like to write other poetry but I can't find the files! Quote

The Crazy One Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Er, well I know a few, but mainly rude ones, and not wanting to cause offense, I won't tell. I haven't written my own poetry for years. I remember the competitions at school and when I won one with a poem about the Nile. Ill try and find it and post it here later. Quote
Righteous Squid Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 A Feeling I’m Forgetting. You go the way that memory fades, Reliving the old scratched record plays As the glorious revolution adds Another twenty four hours To your catalogue of days. You go the way that memory fades And in shadows hope that heaven waits Where saints of patience walked and talked Or cried aloud with God While waiting on a breath or whispered word; And the mournful daughters, lovers spurned and driven To cloistered cages where their passion slowly burned Over every sacred page they turned, still unable to consume The bitter taste that youth abused had given. You go the way that memory fades, This crumbling in the clay God made And shaped and formed While dreaming the shapes of mortal men Before we left to dream our own. Now dust settles on every surface of my soul, The fire low, the ash turns cold, And we sleep, and we grow old. You go the way that memory fades, The road proceeds, the horizon stays, and you somewhere beyond it. Quote

Aanchir Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Here's one of mine. I tend to be most comfortable writing sonnets. I ought to expand into more creative meters, but every time I've tried the end result just ended up feeling like a ripoff of better-known poets like e.e. cummings. Quote

BrickClick Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Great poems everyone! I am silently reading them all! Okay. I'm scared now. I'm home schooled, so I've never experienced that. I think it was for the better. Well, other than the fact that the first time I joined an online forum, I had to ask a kid what 'lol' meant. God you don't want to know the kind of stuff people used to say when I was in school Quote

I tend to prefer the poems that have the A-B-A-B rhyme scheme, so yours is especially appealing. God you don't want to know the kind of stuff people used to say when I was in school I doubt it's improved. We even have acronyms for phrases that kids say because they're not supposed to say the actual phrase. Quote
Joey Lock Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I wrote a new poem, it's been a while. This is a little poem I wrote to ex-girlfriend who is still my closest friend. Thank you for being a friend Your always with me in the end Your the greatest friend I could ask for I never seem to be such a huge bore Your always there to open a door Thank you for being a mate You always think Im really great Your there at my toughest times I couldn't think of many rhymes Apart from um...dimes Thank you for being a buddy Your always there when things get muddy All the times I've felt down in the dumps You lifted me high over those big bumps And saved my heart from all the thumps Thank you for being a chum Around you, I'm never glum I'm not ashamed to say I always hope it will stay this way I always will love to say "Hey" Thank you for being a friend. Ok, I took some lyrics from "Thank you for being a friend" song but most of that was oriented around her. So anyone else got any new ones? Quote
Inconspicuous Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I've written some poetry over the years, nothing significant. My specialty is rhyming riddle-poems. Answers are in spoilers! ------- I'm a many-headed monster that can grow and shrink, yet I cannot move and cannot think; I'm highly sought and locked up tight, yet I'm never distraught and never fight. Answer: Money I'm a special language rarely spoken, a complex code rarely broken; an expression of emotions bad and good, conveyed through devices metal and wood; an ancient ritual from ages past, sometimes slow but often fast; you cannot make me go away, for I'm profession, pastime, work, and play. Answer: Music Twice and sometimes thrice a day, I'm quickly grabbed and whisked away; drowned and smothered, drowned again, then set back down where I had been. Answer: A toothbrush We are all unique but are viewed as the same, we are technically not special but are given great fame; we're a beautiful, silent, and simple medley, but despite our clean looks we are equally deadly. Answer: Snowflakes I'm a silent sanctuary that's commonly found, in air and water but mostly on ground; although I'm pretty I'm important too, for without me there'd be no you. Answer: A garden I'm a master of dance, of geometry, and flight, I build immense structures but am incredibly light; these are the least of my many talents; for I help keep all of nature in balance. Answer: A honeybee I'm a simple web, home to two spiders; one makes me short and then back again wider, the other's four feet dance in place and cascade; without each other their purpose will fade. Answer: An acoustic guitar Enjoy! Quote
marcosbessa Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I love to write and I even have published a novel about almost 4 years ago (when I was 17). I do write some poetry, though it's not my favourite kind of writting... I would love to share some poems with you, but they're in portuguese..... :( Quote
