BlueBard Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Hi everybody! I didn't have many time these last weeks because of my job and my exams but finally this weekend I decided to keep a few hours in order to finish this eight building for my never-ending (I know...) City Display. This is going to be one of the last structures included, so pics from the ultimate model are coming very very soon, in three weeks or less! Now, let me introduce this strange house. It's some kind of club? Maybe a retirement house for crazy old people? It's the weirdest social club in Lego city! (sorry for the dark interior pics ) As usual the whole gallery can be seen here (flickr) or(more) here (brickslef, when moderated) I hope you like it! Comments are welcome! Quote
BrickClick Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Nice and crazy I love the toy airplane on the roof! Great job! Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Wow, you have such a great way of building modulars, think I'll have to use it some day I love all the detail on this building, the outside is excellent, and the dummy gun range in the back sold it for me. I personally would LOVE a club like this! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Another AWESOME MOC from you 'BlueBard' - that guy with the guns is a bit of a worry ! Fantastic model airplane, great band and a sweet little old lady to boot ! Excellent designing again 'BlueBard' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 That is a nice building. I love the model airplane and the flowers at the windows. My only remark would be that the ground floor looks not high enough compared to the first floor. I normally make the ground floor about two bricks higher then the other floors. Quote
Rick Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Lovely modular BlueBard. I like the exterior styling and color scheme a lot and there's plenty of interior detailing to enjoy. Buena Vista Social Club inspiration? One nitpicking comment would be that I don't really like the transparent piece above the ground floor door. It looks like you just placed the door in there and it's not secured with those four studs showing. Quote
Zorbas Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Great work BlueBard! The whole concept is weirdly funny! I really like the way you've placed the minifigs, especially the piano player (Sam?) and the marakas shaker (Jim Carrey?) They look very natural the way they are like that. Btw, ZZ TOP rock! Quote
BlueBard Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the nice comments, people! First let me say that credit for the RC plane's design inspiration goes to BS member nermal My only remark would be that the ground floor looks not high enough compared to the first floor. I normally make the ground floor about two bricks higher then the other floors. Could be interesting to try that, I think it would look more "real". Maybe next time, I'm really out of bricks by now with all those buildings! Buena Vista Social Club inspiration? Not specifically, but it could be One nitpicking comment would be that I don't really like the transparent piece above the ground floor door. It looks like you just placed the door in there and it's not secured with those four studs showing. Mmmh, I know I'm not a fan of that part either, but I kept it because I liked the look of the door from the outside. Btw, ZZ TOP rock! Thanks! Edited July 5, 2010 by BlueBard Quote
prateek Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Very nice! That plane is great, but I'd flip the wings so they are pointing up instead of down. Quote
BlueBard Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Very nice! That plane is great, but I'd flip the wings so they are pointing up instead of down. Thanks! Sorry I don't understand at all what you mean with flipping the wings of the plane Quote
prateek Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Make the wings like this. The two 1x2 ties should be flipped so the flat side is down, so they would fit in the 1x1 clips like the picture. Another way would be to rotate the wing assemblies 180 degrees. Quote
Carbohydrates Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Very nice MOC! For some reason, I love the idea of a building dedicated to weird people doing weird crap. It's charming in a way. edit: Using tooth plates as keystones is a very nice touch! Very nice detail. Edited July 6, 2010 by Carbohydrates Quote
Brig. Brick Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 strangest thing for me is that there is a shootout in the alley... and nobody seems to care , ha ha, very good MOC Quote

Thanks for the idea, maybe I could tray that for the final model. strangest thing for me is that there is a shootout in the alley... and nobody seems to care , ha ha, very good MOC Well, it's a private property, he can do anything he wants in his own alley Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Great MOC. I am in love with that remote control airplane! Really cool. Quote
