crossmr Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) I'm making this thread as a guide to the Oxford Military Sets. As cool as some of the new sets are, I've just discovered that the older sets are even cooler. Sets are prefixed with Oxx-xxxxx or Nxx-xxxxx, O stands for "Old" and N for "New". While a couple of "O" sets are still in circulation (I reviewed the two of them) most are not easily acquired. Which is a shame, because they are cool. The number refers to the suggested retail price. Most shops sell for much less than that, first post is O as that is likely to not change, while the second post will be N. 1. OCM3000 - Helicopter 2. OCM4000 - Jeep 3. OCM8000 - Tow missile Jeep 4. OCM10000 - Ambulance and Jeep w/machine gun 5. OCM12000 - Armored Car 6. OCM14000 - Hummer 7. OCM15000 - Korean style K1A1 Tank 8. OCM18000 - Chinook Helicopter and Tow Missile Jeep 9. OCM25000 - Radar Truck and Anti-air tank 10. OCM28000 - Joint Security Area, DMZ 11. crossmr Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) Here is the current military model list. All I can say is that I hope it's expanded soon. Half the models of the original, and while 2 are still available, everything else is scarce. I've found one on an auction site I'm going to grab, but right now there are no bases. The old set had a control tower, an army base, and a naval yard. If you want helmets and guns though the small armory and small check point is your best bet, only around $1.50 for 1 model and guns, unfortunately the armory has a cap not a helmet. For a tank you get 4 models and 1 set of guns for around $9.50 same price you could get 5 helmets and a set of guns by buying 5 checkpoints and 1 armory. 1.MC2000-7 Mini-collection soldier and gate 2.MC06022 Jeep Car 3.MC0825-6 Check point 4.MC0825-7 Small Armory 5.MC5000-2 Mini-collection Jeep 6.NCM5000 Check point w/armory 7.NCM8000 Jeep 8.NCM35000/0835 second style Tank and Jeep 9.NCM48000/0848 Transport Truck, Missile Launcher, Jeep 10.NCM72000/0872 Chopper, Radar Truck, Transport Truck, Jeep and second style Tank 11.NCM80000 Navy Cruiser w/Chopper Edited July 19, 2010 by crossmr Quote

crossmr Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Hey crossmr back online I see! yup, been busy, but just saw this and had to post it. I'm really looking forward to the chopper. Not sure how I feel about the Jet. Something seems off about it, but the rest looks great. I dig the Humvee too. Quote

Something seems off about it, but the rest looks great. I dig the Humvee too. yeah, I know what you mean - I think it's the nose, looks a bit too cobbled together with the rest and a wee bit too long. But otherwise I'm really impressed with this whole line - I don't care too much for the military theme but the designs are decent and in a nicely scaled size! I don't know much about Oxford - is the quality okay? Quote

It's not remotely like the Chinese brands which are much more available world wide. Quote

crossmr Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) That jet looks good to me I hope your tests with shipping to North America? works well 'cause I want some. I suspect it will be fine, I just want to make sure he receives it in a timely manner. I've previously sent out a few sets on my own, which all generally shipped very fast, except for this one guy. For some reason his got majorly delayed somewhere. Perhaps because it was a much larger box. He likes big sets. This time, I've had him order directly from a Korean website that is in English and does international shipping. He said he paid around $40 for the Helicopter set with shipping. The way this site works is that items are shipped to the main company warehouse from sellers, and the company itself sends the stuff overseas rather than the sellers. It's an interesting idea. he ordered about 6 days ago, it should have hit their warehouse 4 days ago and been sent on. I expect within a week he should receive it, and if it all arrives okay, I'll post full details on how everyone can quickly and easily order Oxford sets directly. Jargo Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 11.NCM80000 Navy Cruiser w/Chopper I love the hull on this one. Much better than the previous ships. Might have to indulge myself and buy the set just for the hull. Quote
jonwil Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 That helicopter in the latest series reminds me a lot of a Huey. Quote

frogstudio Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I must say that the site that Crossmr provided is really great. a bit difficult to get it at first, but it seems to work fine. I've just placed and order for the Antiaircraft tank and for the new battle ship. The price difference between buying them from this site and from a2zever in eBay was of almost U$S100!!! So, if everything arrives in good condition and as planned, it it trully a winner!!!! Thanks Crossmr!!!! Quote

So, if everything arrives in good condition and as planned, it it trully a winner!!!! Thanks Crossmr!!!! Glad you find it useful. I should mention some additional information. The OCM15000 tank and OAF28000 bomber jet are quite old at this point. They obviously made far more of them than other things, so if you are interested in them, you should order them sooner rather than later, eventually they will run out, and they aren't likely to make any more. Also any smaller impulse sets from the NCM line (and other associated newer lines) should probably be grabbed sooner rather than later. I've seen some of them sell-out already, and who knows how long they'll be kept in stock. So if you want to do army building, you might want to order some of those up. Also if you want to grab the unique head with the military police sunglasses, or the unique military cap, you'll want to get on top of it. For searching purposes, people are still listing the MC0825 series as MC2500 (the old series name). Though I can't find any international sellers with the sets still in stock. So if they do come up, you might want to grab them right away. In fact if you want to army build, the only one I can see still selling single soldiers cheap is this one and this one The military police officer, and armoury guy with unique hat are sold out. This also seems to be the only guy who has the other armoury (NCM5000) in stock, as well as the Korean Hwacha, which is a pretty rare find. Quote
crossmr Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 I'm going to bump this as I've added two new sets to the new oxford military line. I must say though, as a huge fan of Oxford, I'm underwhelmed by the latest additions. Previously Oxford gave us a nice large set of multiple vehicles. NCM72000 This has a new chopper, new radar truck and new transport truck. The Tank and jeep included could be gotten in other sets. In these new sets, well they just don't provide much for someone who has already bought the other stuff. OM3305 only gives us the sniper tower and small chopper as new items. OM3306 really only gives us the sniper tower. They're identical except for the chopper It is nice to see a military building of some substance though. I wish they'd issue a new base. The last line didn't have one. But I guess you don't need to defend since we still don't have opposing forces. I don't know what the retail price is yet, as Oxford has just issued them, and they haven't made their way to the shopping sites yet. These are reasonable sets for people who haven't bought anything yet though. If you haven't bought an Oxford but want some, I'd highly recommend the 3306, as it gets you the awesome blackhawk chopper, the Humvee with anti-tank gun, and the artillery. Those are 2 complete sets, 3301, and 3303 as well as half of 3304, and the sniper tower. You could then buy 3304 to give you 2 humvees. The humvees are pretty great, so it doesn't hurt to have more than one. Quote
crossmr Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 Another little update: Oxford seems to have removed OM3301 (the mobile howitzer) from their military site listing. This makes the new OM3305 and 6 the only way to get that now. There are still people selling it on Gmarket if people want one though, I don't know how long they'll have it. I got one and I've been meaning to post the review of it. Maybe later today. OM3305 is coming in at 43,800, which is $39.78. This is slightly cheaper than the NCM72000 I compared it to before. By about 10,000W maybe, if I remember correctly. This gmarket auction is the only person I found selling it, and they have some nice up close product shots of the new chopper and the small tower in the preview: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=230351365&pos_shop_cd=EN&pos_class_cd=90000001&pos_class_kind=T&keyword_order=om3305 I'll definitely be getting this one after I move next month as my current shelf is just about at the limit. The little chopper is a small attack chopper, but it seems to have some passenger space for 1 or 2 guys, and the tower looks nice with a lower gunner position and a higher look-out/sniper spot. OM3306 is going for 54,600, or around $48.86 at today's exchange rate. If you wanted to get some Oxford military and were waiting, I'd say start with OM3305. It's got unique stuff, and you can buy the bigger chopper separately. Quote
Andyroo Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Cheers for all the reviews. I had bought a couple of very cheap Chinese clone sets which were awful quality but so cheap $1-3 it didn't matter and we had fun with them. Earlier this week I bought a small set from Enlightens Corsair (Pirates range) and it was a huge improvement in quality and I started doing some research which led to your reviews. All the information about Oxford is really interesting. The new tanks look different to the one in NCM72000/0872 and I like the look of the older ones with their more solid brickier look. So I should pick that up now as I am pretty sure that set was at my local homeplus. Edit: From their website looks like http://oxfordtoy.co.kr/pro/detailox.asp?m_code=12581&p_code=10 should be coming soon as well. Edited January 18, 2012 by Andyroo Quote
