thire5 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Hello My another neo-spyrius creation. This one is remake of the original Spyrius set # 6949 Robo-Guardian. Brickshelf galerie or flickr. Enjoy! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Very well done thire5! The red-black color scheme works for me, and the details are just right. Though the arms are a bit thin, unless it's intended to be that way. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 That's HUGE. That's AWESOME ! That's a big head on that robot ! Excellent designing there 'thire5' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
TheWarden Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) Now that is just gravy - 1000x better than the official set. I don't care much for the original set (though I do love Spyrius) but I love this. The wheel base actually looks functional and the Bionicle pieces are a nice touch. The greeblage on the back is great too! Edited July 11, 2010 by TheWarden Quote
TGping Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 This is a nice aesthetic update, but I would have loved to see you take the robo-guardian concept further and make it your own. For instance, keep the fact it has wheel/treads and a disengaging cockpit. And base your design on that rather than keeping the initial shape. Maybe think about what spyrius is all about: Spying! And what do spies do? Sabatoge, intelligence gathering. In what way does this vehicle help with those goals? Does it serve a nother purpose? I hope this starts some healthy discussion :) Quote
ProducePrincess Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 You really used those bionicle elements to good effect on this. What really makes this moc for me is the solid ruby like head ,it makes the whole mech seem bigger even thouh it's actually pretty small. Quote
Apollo Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 thire5, I applaud this excellent remake. I have never before seen such a well-executed homage to an old set, and I think you are one of the only MOCists that can truly bring out the energy and impression of these classic themes. From the distinct stance of the detailed robotic arms, to the beautifully updated trans-crimson cockpit, this update really captures the spirit of Spyrius. I especially love the returning circuit-console thingy It must be exciting to know that you have built this fantastic rendition! Brilliant work my friend! Quote
Artanis I Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 My comment disappeared? Anyway, I think this is brilliant... one tiny criticism: slightly less red on the front, slightly less black on the back, add some dark grey and it's perfect! Well done! Quote
