Christian Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I thought I would add a little to this mystery. My Batmobile(bought from S@H Denmark) came with the american rims as shown on the box. This means that the rims are not in every european set. Quote
Hinckley Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Likewise, I bought mine at Shop @ Home USA and have the rims not pictured on the box. This is annoying as I like the rims that are in the picture. Quote
JoeMI6 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 My Batmobile that my aunty got from TRU in the US has the nice gold rims (the ones on the box pics). Quote

All the models coming from the US/Canada had the good ones (Bloody Jay, Vader, Joe...) until your post. The mystery is nowhere to be solved then ? The hunt for an answer still goes on ;-) *yoda* Quote
ApophisV Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Yoda, could you show us a picture of the rim without of the balck rubber part? Maybe the original rims are glued together using an inner and an outer half and yours are made by accident of two inner rim halfs? Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 There you go Apo ;-) Hope this helped ;-) *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 So the mystery is still unsolved....perhaps we need scooby and his team to solve it :-D I for one have never heard of this sort of thing happening before and it baffles me why its happening now :-/ Quote
ApophisV Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 *wacko* As I'm chatting currently with Jipay about mechanical engineering, maybe TLC thought that the Europeans need much more technically usable parts (thats why stud holes at both sides) while the American need "only" stylish ones???? ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Good one Apo :-P but unfortunatly hinckley39 has the same and bought his from US SAH *wacko* The mysteries Indeed continues :-| *yoda* Quote
oo7 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Good one Apo :-P but unfortunatly hinckley39 has the same and bought his from US SAH *wacko* The mysteries Indeed continues :-| *yoda* I'm from the US and I got my batmobile off S@H a week or two after it came out and it has the hub caps on the box, I think it's quite possible that Lego origianally had the box wheels and then revised them without changing the box so the early buyers got different hub caps than the later ones. It might not have any thing to do with different countries. PS inside the rim of the inside part of the wheel there is the code 51337 11-01 Quote

natelite Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 this is annoying. i got my set from ebay and it has the european rims. i like the box rims more... will they become rare? i would hate to have to buy them for $1 or more per piece. did anyone get any answer from lego? can i send in a replacement request? :-P Quote
snefroe Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 maybe we need to urge Lego reps for a serious explenation again. saying "they didn't tell me" or "they didn't know themselves", or whatever doesn't cut it for me, honestly. If you buy a car and you get a green one instead of your wanted, ordered and payed for silver grey, i'd think you'd complain and they either correct the mistake or compensate you. I hear everywhere that Lego has to adapt to a new world of globalisation where competition is very stiff, well, a good way to fight your competition is to deliver the goods you promised and if not, at least respect your customer by explaining what went wrong! >:-( Now, we've asked reps before to find out what the problem is, "demand" however, would be a better course of action. Lego is not cheap compared to many other toys, the least they can do is to give a decent explenation! g... i'm not even talking about sending replacement parts to all who want them! Quote

Don't you think you're taking it a BIT too seriously? I mean a few rims hardly make or break LEGO, who not only has an excellent reputation for quality, but also for customer service. Look what they did for Striking Venom, sending out the correct parts to fix their mistake. Why does it matter what the reason is? I mean we're talking about four tiny pieces of plastic which affect play in no way (which is really the point of LEGO). They've already shown that they can send out replacements with the SV, which you admit is more of a deal than an explanation. Does it really matter why the rims were changed? I think people are just making too big of a deal out of a very minor thing. Quote

I think people are just making too big of a deal out of a very minor thing. no I think it is serious thing. It can't hurt to tell multinationals they have to respect their customers. in the case of lego, it's not just the rims... we've seen several other mistakes in the last year, like giving the wrong bricks in the case of the uplink, giving the right bricks but the wrong colour in the case of the chopper i believe, ... Customers need to push companies to provide the service and the goods they promised. If that means they have to spend more time on checking their machines, then so be it! Quote
natelite Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 i'm just going to order from bricklink. they cost less than $0.10 per piece. Quote
Hinckley Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 UPDATE! I wrote to LEGO and asked for repacement parts explaining that I received pieces that didn't appear in the picture. And they sent me the parts (twice, as always) and they were, guess what?...the new ones that don't appear on the box! Anyone surprised? I wasn't. I also ordered some from bricklink and received, guess what?...the new one's that don't appear on the box. Of course, this one was easy to fix and contacting the seller got me the correct ones. And he said some of the boxes he opened from TRU had the correct ones and some had the newer ones. Obviously, LEGO changed the mold and not the box or directions pictures. What can we do? I don't know. But, I just ordered mine from Bricklink before the prices went up and they became a rare piece. I posted the problem on the message board there to warn sellers that the auto-inventory may contain the wrong part. I don't want this to affect an innocent seller's feedback rating, you know? So, that's where it stands. Hope this helps some of you out. Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 Tks a lot hinckley39 for the heads up *y* ;-) Yeay that helps ;-) Now I wonder why TLC created 2 molds !! That is really cost effective *y* *yoda* Quote
Hinckley Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I have to point this out: "BATMOBILE'S LOST IT'S WHEELS" I guess the Joker got away! I would love to take credit for this but it was someone on BrickLink who pointed it out to me. Hilarious, I say! --Mark Quote

It fits our topic pefectly lool :-P ;-) *yoda* Quote
