Adam the Ant Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 (edited) Hello everyone, here goes with my first model. This design first started out on LDD and I thought it was worth having an attempt at making it. Overall it took me about 8 weeks to build, most of that time was spent looking for the pieces I needed and having to sort out a serious design flaw where the arms would fall off As this is my first design I was going for visuals, so the arms can't move very well due to the large shoulder guards blocking them. Bit of info about the model. The engines on back can move into a lower position. On the back at the bottom of the legs are some smaller jets, which are hinged so they are directed straight ahead rather than down. If anyone wants photos of these, or any other parts close up, I'll happily take some more photos and post them for you, just send me a message. Here's the front and back views. A close up of the head and top of the torso. If you want larger images here's the link to my flickr LINK At the moment I'm working on a spaceship design, but at the moment all I can say about it is that it's going to be red Edited July 17, 2010 by Adam the Ant Quote
nismogrendel Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Very nice. I really like the head, it reminds me of Dog from Half Life. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Now that's very nice indeed 'Adam the Ant' - excellent use of sloped curved pieces ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
feanor Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Looks very professional for a first design, wow... ...and attractive, too Quote
QQS Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Very attractive model :) Engines on it's back were excellent idea. White and black colours reminds me of new Space Police. If it could transform... however, it's excellent work and I'd like to build something like that one day... Quote
Adam the Ant Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Thank you to everyone who's commented and I'm glad you all like it I think I tried at least five designs for the head before I settled with the one you see in the photo. I'm just going to add a couple more bits of info about the model in the original post if you want to check it out. Quote
Blackicep8ntball Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) As the others have said, it is indeed an excellent build, especially as it's your first. Thanks for sharing! Edited July 19, 2010 by Blackicep8ntball Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Wow, that's totally impressive for a first attempt on a mech, very well done Adam_the_Ant! I love the overall design, it really looks like one of those Gundams. Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Wow, quite an impressive first design, I love how well you used all the slopes and curves to give it a very distinct feel, and how well detailed it is. Good job, and for a first, amazingly impressive! Quote
Adam the Ant Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Thank you to everyone else who has responded. I've had a request for close up photos of the feet design, while I'm at it does anyone else what close up shots of any other parts? Quote
prateek Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Wow. If this is your first design, I can't wait to see how awesome your second one will be! Quote
evildead Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Wow, lovely creation! I like the scheme of colors too! Quote
Hoboman Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Well Done. I think it has a clean look to it. Quote
Adam the Ant Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 Wow, lovely creation! I like the scheme of colors too! Thank you. Originally there was a lot more grey pieces, because I wasn't able to find the pieces I needed in the right colours And thank you to the other people who have commented. At the moment I am not working on a new model, as I've finally decided I need to sort my Lego pieces, they're currently in several large boxes only separated by colour and I really don't want to spend more than half the build looking for pieces like I did for this design.
