Post Count?

I can understand having post counts, it definitely shows what members are posting on the site. It also shows who is making tons of posts. As for a status symbol, I guess. I always figured members would want to be remembered for what they say and what tags and titles they were given. Quality vs. quantity in my eyes.

Earlier today I checked how many posts I'd made today. It was 11.

Now it's 7.

Any reason?

I think the post count for "today" is a 24 hours back counter.

Or something like that - imagine how difficult it would be to count everyone's post depending on their time zone...

Agreed - it seems though when reading the EB ranks thread that post counts are a status symbol. Perhaps this could be ammended so as not to provoke members to post for the sake of posting?

What do you have in mind? Sad to say a post count is a status symbol in many ways, and it's hard to avoid that. We restrict many board features purely based on post count afterall. Besides; it does say this;

However, please don't get fixated on the ranks. Just try to be a good member and have fun. Excessive posting to achieve faster promotion is obvious and will result in a post reduction... or worse.

Isn't that good enough?
