Superkalle Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Hear ye, hear ye! I'm calling out to the mighty collective knowledge of the EB community My simple question is: In which sets has the following part (4151b) been used where other bricks/studs in some way have been attached to the diagonal lattice area? (Just to make it double clear, I'm not talking about the 1 stud wide border area or the 2x2 center area, but the lattice in between). Quote
Siegfried Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 How about 4151a and 4151? (No hole.) EDIT... 10210 Imperial Flagship and 7744 Police Headquarters do. Quote

Aanchir Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 8707 Boulder Blaster, 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat and Tower, 7596 Trash Compactor Escape, 4210 Coast Guard Platform, 8709 Underground Mining Station, 7754 Home One Mon Calimari Star Cruiser, 8964 Titanium Command Rig... the list goes on. Most of these I learned by checking what sets the part appeared in using Bricklink, then checking the building instructions to see how the piece was used. Of these sets, the only one I've ever tried to build on LDD was the Boulder Blaster (that's where I discovered the part issue there), but I own the Underground Mining Station and Titanium Command Rig. Note that the Titanium Command Rig goes one step further by attaching parts upside-down, with the studs attached to the top part of the lattice. Quote
Superkalle Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks a lot everyone. EB is THE source for this kind of stuff Cheers! EDIT: @Aanchir - what do you mean that this sets have studs that attach to the lattice area. I looked at Mon Calamari for example, and that did not have it. Did you read my question carefully? Or am I completely blind looking at the Mon Calamari instructions EDIT again: apperantly yes, because you are right! Also @ Siegfried - the 7744 does not seem to have studs attached to the lattice area. Or where did you mean? Quote

Well, you Sirs have sharp eyes! You are perfectly right - I stand corrected. Quote

gotoAndLego Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) There are two in 7676 Republic Gunship, and 7754 Home One has a few. Edited July 20, 2010 by gotoAndLego Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 They were used as the roof pieces to the jail cells in the police station 7744 ! Dam it I was also going to say some of the coast guard sets from 2008 as pier decking, aw well - I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Carbohydrates Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 It's been done for practically as long as the piece has existed. The second set ever to feature the original iteration of this piece, 6988-1 Alpha Centuari Outpost, had studs from both a 2 x 16 plate and a 1 x 6 plate pressed into the lattice/grille part of the piece. You can observe this here: http://peeron.com/scans/6988-1/13 Quote

But it's neat to know some of the history behind that piece! Quote
