Posted July 21, 201014 yr To mark the end of my summer break, I created this summer-spirited vehicle, the latest installment in my series of Star Command MOCs! It's loosely based on the vehicle from the beginning of the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins movie (Skip to 2:40 to see it). I modified the color scheme quite a bit since it looked too much like a Zurg vehicle in the movie in my opinion. "Greetings, I am Buzz Lightyear. I come in peace. This is the Star Command Dune Buggy, our most powerful vehicle for exploring sandy and uneven planets! It seats up to five space rangers and features opening doors, adjustable lights, and suspension for each wheel. My partner, Oky Wan, and I will demonstrate it for you." As you can see, it can climb even the sandiest dune! Wherever Zurg hides, we'll find him! It has a big Star Command symbol on the back. It's big, heavy, and roomy. A bumper sticker on the back expresses the driver's opinion of a certain evil emperor quite clearly. As mentioned earlier, each wheel has its own suspension. The technique used to achieve this is the same as in 8059 Seabed Scavenger. Here are some pics to demonstrate the suspension: Testing the suspension: Let's get into further detail. Here is a close-up of the cockpit. It features a radar for locating life forms and other things. The doors open smoothly. The trunk opens as well and has plenty of room for storing Space Ranger equipment. Oh no! Looks like we got a stowaway! We better bring him back to Star Command. Here is the trunk without the alien: More pics in this Brickshelf folder. I hope you like it. Farewell, and have a nice, Zurg-less summer!
July 21, 201014 yr Nice MOC Oky! It has a great summer feel to it! I love the license plate... "FUZURG"
July 21, 201014 yr Another great MOC Oky! The color scheme of the dune buggy really fits Buzz (and of course you). The suspensions are an effective functional detail, and the spacious 'interior' can fit a few LGMs there! The overall presentation is very professional with a bit funny side too. Good job Sir!
July 21, 201014 yr Hello Speed Buggy...... AWESOME MOC 'Oky Wan' - excellent designing and I'm a conformist! !
July 21, 201014 yr Nice MOC! And there is place for 3 LGM's in the backseats! Just like in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins. Edited July 21, 201014 yr by It All Ends Here
July 27, 201014 yr OK, now that's just showing off how much talent you have! It's absolutely beautiful and the colour scheme is outstanding, well done!!
July 28, 201014 yr Author What kind of pieces did you use for the suspension? These. I love the license plate... "FUZURG" Hehe, thanks. I hope it's not too raunchy for it being a Disney MOC. Awesome! Now Buzz can take Barbie and all her friends for some partying Beach party anyone? And there is place for 3 LGM's in the backseats! Well, they wont have much elbow space, but yeah, technically there is. Your creativity never stops!!! OK, now that's just showing off how much talent you have! It's absolutely beautiful and the colour scheme is outstanding, well done!! Thanks! About time this gets frontpaged. Indeed. Thanks, Svelte!
July 28, 201014 yr Fantastic creation Oky. The size of it is odd but strangely works. I love how you've done the colours, they work very nicely while still looking appropriately space...buggy...ish. The boot is also very cool, a neat simple function, and the rear message to Zurg has me laughing at its complete lack of subtlety. Well done getting front-paged too, it deserves it. The sidekick looks like a bit of a pansy though Batbrick Away!
July 31, 201014 yr To mark the end of my summer break, I created this summer-spirited vehicle, the latest installment in my series of Star Command MOCs! Brilliant dune buggy! I admire and really like the color scheme. It genuinely feels like a Star Command vehicle. Well done!
