Hi all.

I have a problem. I downloaded the barcode pdf-file from Brickset.com

http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/miscellaneous/8684Barcodes.pdf

and of course since I am living in Belgium, I have used the "european" column.

The problem is that I've been able to spot all the minifigs unless the spartan which is the more interesting for me. I even opened new boxes in the shops but I was not able to find one single bag that has the corresponding barcode.

Is there a mistake in the brickset file?

Can anybody help me? I am desperate.

Thank you in advance.

Andrea

You're not alone! :cry_sad: I got the exact same problem.

I have also gone through several well-filled boxes and one completely new-opened box without finding a corresponding barcode to the spartan on my list (the same as yours). But as Rick points out, in Superkalle's topic the bag barcode does match with the one on my list.

I really don't understand what we are doing wrong

I checked them before I published the PDF.

the bar code are correct! you might want to print the PDF on a laser printer some older inkjets have problems printing fine lines.

I think you just might have gotten unlucky and they where already gone!

Yeah, I don't believe there any wrong with the list either. But it was very strange that I couldn't find any spartans in the newly opened box (I saw the cashier open the box and I was the only one going through it). I guess I either didn't look hard enough (possible, but I thought I was very careful), or it was a box without spartans (very unlikely, but shit happens). It was in any case very frustrating to not find the last minifig after having biked through half the city in the rain. :cry_sad: But I will visit my brother in another town soon, so I guess I'll raid their toy shops for the spartan instead.

Believe me that I've checked at least 100-130 bags in two days and I haven't found any spartan.

I printed the list with a laser printer...

If you get a case, you'll get 3 sets.

Thanks for the answer!

But the "spartan issue" make me a bit trouble!

Similar problem for a friend in germany.

He had the chance to examine some boxes in germany in different shops, and there was no trace of spartan minifigs.

Perhaps there is a problem with European boxes...

Packaging errors happen from time to time. I came across a new box today (still sealed) that only had two Spartans instead of the usual three. Despite this, the box still had 60 figs. It was a bit frustrating considering that almost every time I've come across a box of series 2 figs the Spartan seems to be hand picked out of the box before I arrive. Still, I shouldn't complain too much as I've managed to nab more than my fair share of these guys.

Keep hunting!

Today in another shop I finally found 3 spartans and they were "in a row", one after the other.

Don't kwow why in the other shop there were not, but I'm glad I found them: it's one of the best minifigures ever.

Cheers.

Great to hear! Now I have good hope of finding some too :sweet:

Terrible news for me!

So I only have to wait the package arrives... hoping for 3 spartans! (and tree complete series, obviously)

I'm pretty sure that this was just a packaging error. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you as case selections for both series 1 and series 2 have been overwhelmingly consistent. Considering the large quantities of collectable figs I've purchased thus far, I'm actually pleased as I really haven't come across any other packaging or quality control issues. I've had one extra accessory with a caveman in series 1 and no missing bits.

Doubt it! More likely to be the greedy German sellers on BL snapping them all up!! Take a look at the sheer volume the German sellers have of them to find out why nobody over there can find any!!

Well I just totally lucked out! Went into Jarrolds in Norwich to see if they had the figs in yet (WHSmiths had a few behind the counter but a massive queue I didn't feel like standing in.) Turns out that not only do they have them, but they've numbered the bags so you can see exactly which fig you'll get. The nice assistant lady helped me fish out a complete set, not only looking into the other open boxes under the counter but even going so far as to fetch an unopened box from the stockroom and scanning the packs to find me a Spartan.

Wonderful service and I'd highly recommend anyone in East Anglia wanting a set to pop in. :cry_happy:

A tragedy in Taiwan...

My TRU got another box in Friday, so I completed my Series 2 collection plus two more Spartans.

Here's the funny part: When they sold the contents of their first two boxes, they went back and filled the boxes with unsold Toy Story aliens. A minifig and a poor excuse for a space ship did not justify $3.49, so I guess they were trying to combine the Series 2 frenzy with parents' lack of knowledge to sell them.

I was annoyed when I got to the register with my final three minifigs of the series. While I paid $1.99 last week, they got me for $2.99 this week. They only jacked it up to $2.49 last series.

I stopped in Target today and they now had them in stock as well. Target has them in the Halloween section with some other small bagged sets as well as other random Halloween toys. Best part is they are $1.99, not $2.99 like Toys R Us in the area.

Finally my box arrives, and fortunately it contains three complete series.

Here is the content of the box:

- 3 Spartan Warrior

- 4 Life guard

- 4 Witch

- 3 Pop Star

- 4 Weight Lifter

- 5 Ringmaster

- 3 Explorer

- 5 Karate Master

- 3 Surfer

- 3 Pharaoh

- 4 Vampire

- 5 Traffic Cop

- 4 Mime

- 3 Skier

- 3 Disco Dude

- 4 Mariachi

My apologies if this was already posted in this thread, but in the US, the barcodes in question are on the right side of the bag and have a different bar sequence than the ones in the first post. According to those pics, I've got eight minifigs that don't exist. :sceptic:

EDIT: Never mind.

On the happy side, some LEGO Store employees will pick out and reserve specific minifigs for you- I got two Spartans without being present when the box was put on the shelf. :sweet:

My Target put them out yesterday. I got there and found 2 full boxes and went to buy 20 packs. I was literally about 10 cents short, so I had to put one back and I ended up with 19

I used the barcodes to make sure I at least got one Spartan and Mexican, and picked the rest at random. I ended up with 11 unique figures, a few doubles, and the only triple being the Spartan. I feel bad about clearing out all the Spartans in a box...

I went back today to get the 5 I was missing with the barcodes, and found a box and a half left. I had tipped off my new Lego buddy Infomaniac () and he went and got a few, but it really didn't look like anyone else bought any. I find it interesting how there have been places where these fly off the shelves and then there are places like my Target where they serve as shelfwarmers.

I'm interested to see what I get in my 16 from S@H that I ordered before I knew they would be at Target...

These reports of boxes "short" on Spartans (having fewer than three per box) are odd, but it does seem to bear out my perception that there's a bit of actual randomness to the packing. I personally opened the two boxes I found at Target the other day, and while each of the two contained three Spartans (Ok, yes, I was cherry-picking these soldiers  ), I could swear they were in different locations in the two boxes - IIRC, one box had one in each of the three rows / columns, whereas the other had none in the middle one but two in one of the others.

Yesterday I went to the second-closest Target to me and picked up three more Spartans; these were all the ones remaining out of the two boxes there. I initially assumed someone else had beaten me there and gotten half the Spartans, but I now wonder whether there might have been fewer than six between the two boxes to begin with.
